I agree, those are really nice. I think the creases add character to the boots. From what I could tell from the video, the soles looked like they have plenty of life left. I enjoyed seeing the original box, too. I could tell from your pics the new Wolverines were not in the same league with your older ones. Seems to happen a lot lately, with brands going cheaper. Nice video, thanks for posting it.

Well I returned those new Wolverines back to Amazon. They were junk. I agree about soles not being done. Like I mentioned, I don’t resole until their is a failure. I’ve had one boot where the heel came loose (mentioned in video) so I had them resoled. I also have had a couple dress shoes that wore through to the cork or cracked, so they were resoled. I’ve found even with the stitching worn through, the soles still usually hold on for some time. Honestly with these virtually never being worn anymore, I probably will never resole them. I’ve worn them maybe twice in 2023.

@@EDHBlvd I've had several pairs of dress shoes worn daily, when I worked, that I had half soles put on them when the original (thin) leather soles wore through. I just got back from Redwing a pair of 12" Irish Setter Elk Tracker boots (that were my daily winter wear until I got my Nicks Overlanders) that I had them resole. They're still my daily wear when we have snow on the ground, which last winter was nonstop. The tread had worn enough I was slipping on packed snow instead of it digging in, so I sent them in to get new soles late last spring. They're Gortex lined, and with the 12" height I rarely need gaiters wearing them. Simply tuck in the pants legs. They're much warmer than the Overlanders, and of course, pretty waterproof.

@@rickc4317 Ya I use to go into the office 5 days a week and had some travel. However since all the pandemic stuff, my employer has been basically 100% work from home. A couple times a year we’ll have a meeting in the office, but I’m always home. Due to this, I’m 100% on the boot train now. Don’t ever see myself buying dress shoes again as I still have several pairs that work for the rare times I need them.

You could totally resole them when the soles blow. For now they look really good. It is nice to have something like that in collection from the good days that is not around any more.
@EDHBlvd10 ай бұрын
Ya its true. They are worthless as far as trying to flip them on eBay, but they are worth something to me as they are molded to my feet at this point. Even if they only get a couple wears a year now (since I’m always wearing PNW boots), its good enough to keep them in the closet. They are also the darkest brown boot I own. So if I want that darker color I have these.
@brunonjezic620810 ай бұрын
@@EDHBlvd i would totally go with that. It is a cool contrast to the genre of boots you have. Also in resole you can do something wilder if you want to spice them out

I have a pair of the centennial edition in bison leather, same brown. Soles are a little better but they are a couple years newer I guess. They have fairly light crease lines, they are there for sure but don't suffer from the same wrinkling look. Maybe hidden by the natural texture of the bison leather. I like a worn in look personally, like a well weathered denim

You didn't lose the CRXL lottery, that natural creasing if you had grain break you would know it.

Nice to see this king form mixed in 👍🏻. Is the cloudiness difficult to buff out in the chromexcel?
@EDHBlvd10 ай бұрын
No it buffs out fast with horsehair brush. These just haven’t been worn in like 6 months.

Yeah, that's just called "bloom." Oils rise and settle. A little brushing usually does take care of it. I gotta say: they look good! To my eye, better than the chunkier and so much heavier PNW--but to each their own! I've got a little obsession going on right now with suede Chelseas. Our tastes change...

@@jameslarue2878 ya I guess everyone has different tastes. Right now I’m really into the sprung toe PNW boot.

I probably need to give Nicks 55 a go in 11.5D. I’ll keep an eye on the RTS. I’m going to sell my last pair of Whites 55’s in 11D. They are simply too small for my foot.

@@EDHBlvd would appreciate the updates on the findings. a worn in 55 has the best shape. i still feel as though i’m off the mark & no clue if it’s length or width

@@wehrwxlf buying that 5332 Packer in 11.5D gave me some perspective on a 55 in 11.5D from Nicks. It could be right on the money. I’m uneasy about a 55 in 11E based off my Franks 55 in 11E being huge, but these I feel have something else going on. Either prior owner used boot stretcher or they were lasted larger maybe for insole or something

@@EDHBlvd arch also plays a huge part in where your foot is situated in the last. i got a half size up from my iron rangers & there’s way more room in the toes & the ball area feels ahead of where it should be.

@@wehrwxlf ya the 11067 has same or more arch than the 55. It definitely “shortens” the foot.
