I love the setup on the back porch. So peaceful where you live. I think the quality of the bow has a lot to do with it. I bought a Samick Sage and built up my strength then bought a custom bow from P. A.W bowyers guild and it made a huge difference in my accuracy. I couldn't be happier. Awesome video and i look forward to seeing more. 👍

That’s some mighty good tip’s you’re sharing, especially the idea of the tip of the elbow at full draw to be like the rear sight of a rifle. That’s a new one for me and I like it, will put it into my very fast snap shooting shot sequence soon.

Easily one of the most instructive videos out! We all know how nuanced trad. archery can be for each individual, but I found the entire video impactful on how I can shoot better--without having to completely unlearn decades of instinct or muscle memory. On the other hand, all the wind and distance from the camera interfered with how well I heard the audio so may wanna consider getting a pop or wind filter; that's what comes to mind as a solution, but there could absolutely be some DIY alternatives available. Thanks for the content brother!

Good shooting bud. I started deer hunting in the mid 1980’s with a recurve and I know how challenging it was for me to be accurate. You make it look easy. I went to a compound in the 1990’s and switched to a recurve crossbow in 2010. I do have a tremendous amount of respect for traditional archers because I know the amount of discipline and practice it takes to be consistent. I should have stuck with traditional in the 80’s. There is just something magical about watching those arrows hit the mark without the use of sights. Great video and great shooting.

Very nice of you to share this strategy. I can identify with so much of what you said. Everything in traditional archery seems to be some kind of compromise. My technique has evolved by sacrificing “perfect geometrical form” by raising the anchor point close to my eye. There are a few advantages for this especially when shooting from unorthodox positions. I like what you said about gleaning from other shooters. Heard the pail drop analogy before, but it is the first i heard about the golf ball follow through though. I love your videos, short and sweet.

Great video. Excellent form and shooting accuracy. I have recently dedicated to using the feather to the nose technique. When I am able to execute my shooting is much improved but I still sometimes can not draw completely to get the feather to touch and am essentially short drawing. I believe my problem is having too much focus on the target and not enough focus on completing the touch of the feather. I would be willing to bet if you are getting negative responses it is due to some jealousy and low self esteem on their part.

Thank you for being a user of the closed stance 😊. It seems the open type stance is what most folk use or are taught. If I use open stance i cant line up in the target and if i try instinctive with it im missing a mile to the left and low, so closed stance for me, in fact ive almost got my back to the target 😄.
@caseysmith5442 жыл бұрын
What about those who use neither and do a relaxed shoulder width stance. I am one of the few doing this as this was how I was taught to shoot. At least I do this for my non seat shooting. Seated I tend to have below the knees more open but this is for stability so I am not moving around in the seat or what I am siting on.
@davewebster69452 жыл бұрын
@@caseysmith544 What ever physical stance/method that gets your body aligned so you naturally shoot straight at the target is the one to use, and were all going to be a bit different 👍.
@caseysmith5442 жыл бұрын
@@davewebster6945 Yep I agree, I was pointing out there is a 3 type of stance people do not think about or forget is an option like there is only the wide stance target guys have, or thick woods type closed stance for hunting, when there is a rocky mountain/odd terrain hunting we see some use even in more jungle or thicket type parts of the USA.
@caseysmith5442 жыл бұрын
I go back to the Ear front of canal cartilage with top finger to my set point on release and I use a modified Howard Hill/Split Vision though more with the object blurry then the arrow as if the arrow is blurry then I get odd eye pain, sometimes in worst case head pains when aiming. Other thing with this is I can focus on the object I am trying to hit more with the arrow not blurry as the arrow also likes to go double in my vison when I let it go blurry as close items to my face tend to do when not in focus due to going cross eye when trying to focus outside the closer object. Then other times I have to have both in almost focus, mini blur to both if I am really struggling to hit the object on those days or having eye pains with either object or arrow being blurry. There are also some rare days the arrow needs to be blurry to shoot but those are often due to a rare thing if the target is going double vison more then the close object when they are blurry. Edits: I forgot to mention I am split finger so only the top finger above arrow is touching the spot. I am using glove though the almost string type unless I am using a set of all leather gardening/work gloves with the smoother fingers to them, both in the pair for winter.
