I also have diabetes and the same problem. Thank you so much, sir. No one else touched on this subject as far as I'm concerned.

makes perfect sense to me, I've only been smoking for a few year myself and I found myself with about 20 high dollar pipes in no time, Also I found myself always wanting more and more pipes just to have them and since I can't afford to be like that I tried Missouri meerschaum corn cob pipes and fell in love! so ive been selling off about 80% of my pipes and investing into more Cobs. I'm also like you as in I'm a tobacco person much more than a pipe person so since I've made the adjustment I've been much happier and having a few bucks still in the bank instead of a new high dollar pipe is also a big bonus :) ~JC✌

Love the videos, Muttnchop. Your recommendation led me to buy a 320ks (Dolomiti) as my first nice pipe, and I couldn’t be happier. I have a Sav basket, and some cobs as well, but this is like a whole new experience. Thank you sir! ~Patrick

I agree Muttinchop, I am very finicky about the right pipe, I only smoke my staight long 6" Canadian styles with long wood shank.. I just love them the feel and the look. More wood than plastic for me, The ones I smoke in my videos Wes

Steve H - congratulations on your new acquisition, I'm glad you like your new pipe, I guess I am a Savinelli man, for me at least the price is right, the quality is top notch, and they are just good smokers. 👍👍👍

We are so similar. I’m currently deciding which Peterson shape I want to dedicate to each Peterson blend I decide to regularly smoke and cellar. Sherlock Holmes finish for the Sherlock Holmes blend, St. Patrick’s for Irish dew, Dracula for sunset breeze and so on, but all the same shape just different finishes and stem colors

I have a little Jeantet leather clad apple, that I dedicated to Christmas Cheer. It is not the recommended 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 ratio bowl most recommend for Virginias, however it delivers flavor on a level unsurpassed to any of my other pipes I have sampled Christmas Cheer in. I noticed after smoking a couple tins from the pipe, and allowing the briar to become saturated, it did kick the flavor up a level or two. I think this is because briar seasons, similar to an iron skillet, and even with minimal cake, the pipe will produce a much better quality smoke when dedicated to a particular blend.

Great vid! Several years ago, I made the same decision to realign my pipe collection to only Savinelli 320's. I have seven 320s... all of which are KS models. I rotate through these pipes on a weekly basis, smoking a different one each day of the week. They are all exceptional smokers. I do disagree with you on one point. Not all of my 320's are top quality. There are finish and construction issues on several of them. I have a Trevi smooth that has lost its finish (Boston Briar experienced this same problem with his Trevi smooth. Check out his vid). The Savinelli logo on the stem of both my Trevi smooth and Trevi Rustic do not vertically align along the top of the shank. They are off center. I also have a Sistina Rustic with a beautiful yellow band. There is a gap between the stem and shank. These are quality control issues that were not caught by the factory. All in all, these are minor concerns. I love each of my 320's. I'm looking forward to watching your 320 collection grow!

The nice thing about having different pipes is seeing how the same tobacco smokes in each style. Enjoy it as you see fit, nice tobacco cabinet.
@MuttnchopPiper8 жыл бұрын
I agree, my decision to dedicate 1 style of pipe to 1 blend of tobacco was made in consideration of several factors, these include; Style, Finish, Manufacturer, Health, and Price. I initially purchased 2 of these pipes one dedicated to aromatic blends and one to non-aromatic blends, as I smoked each category of blends in their respective pipes I consistently enjoyed a pleasant smoking experience each time I smoked. Most pipe smokers chase what I call the nirvana experience when smoking their pipe, although I did not experience this every time I did experience it with this pipe more then any other pipe I owned. Pipe smoking is a personal experience for each of us, what works for me, may not work for someone else. What I am doing is radical, I know, and I intend to retain different sized pipes in my collection, but I do not have the resources to purchase a pipe in hopes that it will be a good smoker. The 320 is sold at a manageable price point for my budget and it is a good smoker.

@GianfrancoMontebello8 жыл бұрын
You nailed it when you mentioned Savinelli is all about quality. My girlfriend bought me a Savinelli Primo Fumo, basically one of those "lower-end/bastar" pipes that have a natural finish. The flaws on them are incredibly small, I have been smoking it for a while and it smokes just as good as any of my other Savs, maybe even better. You gotta love a brand that delivers excellent quality at an amazing prize.
@MuttnchopPiper8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gian, do you know where she got it?
@GianfrancoMontebello8 жыл бұрын
I know she bought it at a local Tobacconist in Torino, Italy
@MuttnchopPiper8 жыл бұрын
+Gian M the reason I asked is Savinelli has a brick and mortar store somewhere in Italy, and I have heard that is the only place you can purchase those unfinished flawed pipes. I would love to visit that place one day. 👍👍👍😃

My pipe collection includes several clays--a couple of them churchwardens--and I have heard that clays are just the thing for testing out a new blend, since they do not "ghost" or influence your present smoke in any way and deliver the pure taste of the tobacco you are smoking at the time. You plan to use cobs for the same purpose, although I think, rightly or wrongly, that cobs do influence the taste of tobacco (not in a bad way, but it is still an influence). What are your thoughts?

I had several really old Kaywoodie pipes my father gave me many years ago. They were heavily smoked and really in very bad condition. Most were drug-store variety. I threw them out after my Dad passed, which I now regret. Just sentiment i guess.

I got my step-grandfather's pipes after he died. I smoked them for a couple years until the wifenagging beat me down. I ended up giving them away. I, too, regret the decision. Now happily divorced and picked up a few estates to resume the enjoyment. .

I have several Savinelli pipes and really enjoy them. In general though Danish freehands are my favorites in particular Ben Wade and Nording. I'm also starting to branch into meerschaums and really enjoying them. It should also be noted that my collection is starting to get out of hand.

Cool. I am getting back into the hobby after some time off. Unfortunately, No longer had my grandfathers pipes. Still looking for that perfect pipe and tobacco. Got a couple of Rossi pipes right now and an old kaywoodie coming from ebay. Once I know what I like I will be getting a Savinelli Would love to hear your opinion on the old estate pipes with Stingers.
@MuttnchopPiper6 жыл бұрын
Gregory B - I don’t like stingers, I had 2 in my smoking life, both did exactly the same thing, I would get to about half way and both would clog with tobacco that found its way to the stinger. Just a personal preference. 😏😏😏

Thanks for the information in this video. Quick question once you get all of the 320KS pipes you need, how will you tell apart which pipe is dedicated to which tobacco? Right now, you have two of the same color and that might work for now, but how do you plan to differentiate between the several you plan to own down the line? Does Savinelli make the 320KS in so many different colors/styles to meet your future needs?

Good question, I will never stop buying pipes, once I get all the 320s I want, I will probably start buying other pipes to smoke tobacco's that are not dedicated to one of my 320s, very interesting question, I guess we will see in 2 years thanks for your comment 👌

hello , I want to start smoking pipe and in this video u speak about the savanelli shop in Italy. I live in Milan, do u really think thet a savanelli pipe can be a good first pipe for me ? can I really find a good pipe at a good prices in the savanelli shop ? tank you so much for your videos👍👍👍👍👍👍 set.
@MuttnchopPiper7 жыл бұрын
Francesco Set - yes, what I would suggest is when you go there ask to see their unfinished seconds, they are pipes with out finish, and have small flaws, for a first pipe this would be a perfect choice. 👍👍👍
@gapiper25648 жыл бұрын
Well I have all but stopped pipe smoking and started smoking cigars instead because I also smoked a lot and on a daily basis I was numb to the flavored that once enticed me however this does not happen with cigars and also with a pipe my mouth dries out slit due to the excessive puffing compared to smoking a cigar.
@MuttnchopPiper8 жыл бұрын
I hate that you had a bad experience, but as long as your happy smoking cigars that's all that matters ✌️
@owenjohnson50306 жыл бұрын
Are you still following this plan? What are your thoughts of using a couple Falcon Stems and just dedicating bowls to s specific tobacco? I can't justify spending $1600 for 16 pipes. I can certainly afford to purchase 16 Falcon bowls.
@MuttnchopPiper6 жыл бұрын
Owen Johnson - somewhat, the pipe I selected ended up hurting my teeth because it was to heavy, so I traded them in for 8 of the pipe I now use, 7 for non aromatics, and 1 for Aromatics. I think using Falcon pipes with several exchangeable bowls is a great idea, and a lot more economical. 👍👍👍
@UFO4X8 жыл бұрын
I really love that pipe, and just ordered one from smokingpipes.com, however, it's a 320 EX. It's looks almost exactly the same, so I'm wondering what the real differences are, if in fact there are any significant ones?

Sean Robert Ramuno - Thank you for that, you know when I was 16 I was subconscious about smoking a pipe thinking, I better not let anyone see me do this, because if they do I’ll be teased unmercifully for it. Well even to this day I still get that feeling, and it’s silly I know, but it’s there anyway. 😒😒😒
@searam16 жыл бұрын
I don't smoke now but if I did, it would most definitely be a pipe. When I was 18, I bought a pipe as I left for college. That was 1971 and I was hooked on reading The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit which is why I chose a pipe. My shape was a Danish. I am sure I looked silly, but so what! I probably looked silly, anyway! But I think your choice is perfect! Thanks for all the excellent videos and be well! Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Hello, nice video. About Savinelli pipes I recently bought my first Savinelli pipe, it´s a TEVERE 114 KG. I'm disappointed with it, it has a strong taste and smell of varnish. I've tried to clean up with alcohol, I've also tried to let it burn some old tobacco, but the bad taste is still there. I'm not sure if this is a common issue or what happens. If anybody have a tip of how to solve this I will aprecciate a lot. Best regards.

16 is a really good number ---it is quite a few blends, but smoking more is a path to confusion. The great poet, Chaucer had 16 books-- and one president of Harvard insisted a great education could be had through 16 books. He challenged students to create a library of just 16 books--each selected through painful deliberation. Master Funakoshi, the founder of modern karate. built his art around 16 forms or kata. He considered 16 to be the perfect balance between being too narrow and falling off into chaos. So with 16 you are in good company.
