It's time for another update on my poison dart frogs, and this one is really exciting! My dart frogs are doing super well, they're doing so well that they just won't stop breeding! I keep finding eggs, so soon enough i'm going to have an army of dart frogs!

That is so exciting! I'm getting a pair of dart frogs (azures) in two weeks at an reptile expo! I've had their enclosure set up for months now and am so excited to finally bring home my first fogs! I already know that I'm going to instantly fall in love with them! I would love it if you could do a video about caring for the babies from eggs to froglets. I've don't tons of research on breeding darts, but I personally feel like you can never research too much and would love to see what you have been doing to raise your frog army!

I've literally set up a bioactive just for a day or two because supposedly I went to a reptile store I was suppose to get another auratus but they sold out and I didn't want to drive all the way to the reptile store and grab nothing so I just picked up a juvenile Azureus he or she is doing fine wit the tank I just made a couple days ago lol

I think that I definitely want a pair of the D.Azures like you have but I also really like the little Blue Jeans.They are orange with blue legs. I think that they are imitators? Also I really like some of the other variaties of the thumbnail frogs.The place I found had frogs like yours and a ton of similar, but slightly different looking frogs.they all had blue with different amounts of yellow markings.I was really surprised at how many different species that they had in stock.

I am very surprised at your setup because I have been pricing the same setup, same terrarium and same azures frogs☺ I love the way they look. I was online pricing pairs and tadpoles and I found a good deal, but the shipping is on hold because of the weather☺

Maybe!! This species does best in pairs so I likely wouldn’t do a group of this particular species, but maybe with a different species of dart frog!

Yeah when I just had my one beardie I said if I ever get a second pet I will not have a favorite welp needless to say one ball python later I have a favorite and it's the ball python! I can't help it he's just the sweetest boy! 💜

I got my first dart frogs a few months ago, & I too am obsessed! I have 3 Ranitomeya imitator 'tarapoto' & I just can't wait until they're old enough to have babies! The male calls all the time, but no babies yet. they're still young :) What is the flowering plant? ❤

I got 2 blue dart frogs(Azureus) just like yours in April of last year (2021). They were only 1 month out of the water froglets. They are now 12 months old maybe? They still aren't breeding or perhaps I did not get a male and female.

Do they make a lot of noise? Like calling etc? I’ve kept free frog species and certain times of year they would bark all the time. Wondering if the dart frogs due the same.

TIP - scanned the comments didn’t see anybody mention yet, just before the 19 minute mark there’s 3 tads from the same clutch in one cup. …With tinctorius darts (like your azeurus here) and at least one other species i can’t recall right now which, it’s typical to place only one tadpole per cup because they release hormones that inhibit the growth of other tads. I suspect this is why you have one that is much larger than the other two which are the same size. Had they all been in separate cups they would likely all be the size of the large one.

have you been emulating a wet & dry season inside the tank to get them to mate? or did they just do so despite tank conditions being the same? i have a male and female that i don’t want to mate because i don’t have another tank to raise any potential babies lol, and i’ve been trying to keep tank conditions the same so they aren’t tempted to breed

dart frogs that are bred in captivity actually aren’t poisonous! poison dart frogs that are in the wild are poisonous because of the insects that they eat. it’s pretty cool :)

Are you keeping the same species as me? (Dendrobates tinctorius azureus) they breed best when kept in a male female pair, so you might have more success with just two frogs instead of 3

They just breed a lot! Doesn’t matter if you take the eggs or not. They can lay up to 200 a year
