My Portulacaria afra, Baobab Style Forest, Show Prep, The Bonsai Zone, Sept 2023

I'm pruning the trees and working on the landscape to get my Portulacaria afra forest ready for the fall bonsai shows. These trees are styled to resemble the Baobab trees on Kabu Island. Kubu Island is a an island located in the Makgadikgadi Pan area of Botswana.

That main tree has come so far with you scaring the trunk and now that you have started doing the same to some of the younger ones they are looking great too. I definitely will start to implement this technique on my jades during the next growing season.

I liked the Range Rover in the landscape. But that’s probably better for greenhouse display and videos. You’re right, absolutely does not need it for the show.

Vey convincing composition! When you worked on the landscapes of the Chinese Village planting and then this one here, I wondered if lines would look good in the sandy parts that represents water. Just like the lines in a Zen-Temple's garden. I wonder if it could by a nice little extra detail. I hope the new pot for the Baobab style planting turned out well!

I think you should clean some of the green from your rocks. Especially at the front where the lighter sand is

Trees, moss and sand are good, but the cement in bigger rocks it’s too much visible. Maybe you can use some moss or sand to cover it.

You can buy minature rice fields from temu all seasons colour some look like African style grass other look like green grass would really make a bonsai landscape look a lil more realistic
