I also had a very positive experience - 3 years of trying to conceive and finally having a HSG booked (I live in the UK so we have to wait a long time to have it free on the NHS). I can't lie and say it wasn't painful, but the whole procedure is so quick SO worth it. I was told they found I had a slight block in my right tube. They removed the block, I fell pregnant 2 weeks later and I'm 5 weeks away from meeting my baby boy! If you're debating doing this and are having trouble conceiving, please do this!! you just never know what's stopping you from creating your baby - I wish everyone so much luck in their journey.

The hsg can act as a therapeutic exam as well and if blockages exist, usually the dye pressure will be enough to remove those blockages.

I had my HSG Test today! I wouldn’t explain the experience as pain, just uncomfortable. Very fast test, so if you’re hesitant about booking (because of “pain”), don’t be! Best of luck

I just got my HSG procedure done and it was painless. I did get an ultrasound a couple of weeks before and it was very painful. I was scared because I thought the pain would be like the ultrasound but nope! Great experience. I did find out that my left tube is blocked but hopefully I will be able to conceive soon! 😊

Thank you for sharing your experience. I watched your video and the one you recommended before my procedure and they were very helpful. I felt exactly like you did and I will say that my providers were wonderful and walked me through each step of the way. I had very mild cramping during the process and it only lasted a few minutes and then we were done. My anxiety was really high going in but after it was done, I was releaved at how smooth it really went. Thank you for sharing your positive experience. There should be more videos like this instead of women sharing bad experiences to make us feel more at ease.

I had mine just 3 days ago, and it's 'bearable'. I have had bad cramps for years (since I have endometriosis) so prolly that's the reason why it wasn't 'that bad' for me. What sucks the most was my experience post-test. I had bad cramps a few hours after (as the pain reliever's effect subsides). And for the next 2 days, I felt really gassy 😅. If you're looking for a sign, this is it- DO IT! I hope the HSG helps us *finally* conceive soon! 🤞Baby dust to all of us!

My HSG experience was positive partly because I watched your video right before going in:) thank you so much for positive vibes. I understand everyone’s bodies are different but trust me when I say it’s not as bad at all. The test itself literally took 2 mins from speculum placement to contrast to withdrawing the equipment. I didn’t feel any pain or burning with dye whatsoever. I was surprised. The only discomfort I felt was with speculum and when they manipulated my cervix to get into the uterus. That’s it. Overall not bad at all. I’ll do this test again in a heartbeat if I had to. My doc gave me a clean bill of health - no blockages and even showed me my uterus and fallopian tubes on the monitor.

I don't tolerate pain well.... The HSG to me felt like labor pains, not period cramps 😣 BUT I can say that it didn't last long.

@@ireneveraperez REALLY REALLY GOOD!! My pain level 1-10 was like a .5, not even a 1. I was sooooo scared for nothing. 🥳 I drinked Ibuprofen 600 and a tylenol 30min before.

Just had mine this morning! I didn't even feel A THING! Now to be clear, I took 2 hydrocodone pills (10mg total). My husband had nose surgery 2 weeks ago and he didn't finish all of his hydrocodone pain killers he was prescribed for pain after surgery, so I saved 2 of the pills to take for this procedure. I truly didn't feel anything, and now I'm not sure if it was because I had the hydrocodone OR because of what my doctor told me. Here's what my doctor told me: He said that a lot of the horror stories we read online about how painful the procedure is, is because of WHO is performing the procedure. He is a very experienced IVF doctor who has done 1000's of these procedures, so he is really good about doing it gently. However, some people get this procedure done by people who don't have as much experience doing them, and so they are a lot harsher. He said it's all about WHO does the procedure. In the right hands, it shouldn't hurt.

I go for mine on the 28th! Hopefully I can move forward with conception! I have 2 living children. I ultimately had 1 AB. 1 live birth. 1 AB. Miscarriage. Live Birth. Miscarriage. And now I’m trying for another baby! But it’s been 2 years and no pregnancy: so this next and then clomid!!

Thanks for sharing your experience. But I have heard that if you have blocked tubes or anything wrong it's the worse pain. So if yours were great then maybe that's why you had a great experience. I'm super scared of mine and i haven't even made the appointment but my Dr. Said to schedule asap.

@@macdingle I also get horrible cramps. I'm just scared mine will hurt a lot. Because I only have 1 ovary and 1 tube. So I don't know where the liquid will go if it dispersed to the other side.

@@1251idobelieve these are concerns you can tell your tech long before the procedure even begins! As soon as they inserted the dye and saw it coming out my tubes, they pulled everything out and the dye came out with it, any pain subsided - 20 seconds max of everything in there ❤

Is antibiotics a standard procedure for HSG? Or Just if you get a infection?

For my experience antibiotics were only going to be necessary if I got an infection :)

My experience was very painful. Whenever I think about it it’s as if my body remembers the trauma and it was emotional. Everyone is different. Depends on how your uterus sits, some doctors are rough, my doctor was very graceful but it did not make a difference with the pain. I had to take a moment to breath after they inserted the catheter and expanded the balloon. My body was sweating and I screamed like I never have in my life. The dye is supposed to be even more painful. I waited 30 seconds before giving them the ok to insert the dye and then it was super painful I had to tell them stop I don’t want to do this anymore. And they said that I was done and the liquid followed through my tubs. Yes the pain went away, but I felt mad and emotional after this. Not because of the nurses but because of the pain. It’s been a week, I still remember the pain in my mind when I think about it but I’m still emotional about what my body went through. I was also on 600mg of ibprophen. Some people feel it more than others. But I do know the doctors downplay the pain because then no one would want to do it.

That's a great question and I don't really know! How does somebody actually know if they have a high pain tolerance if we can't compare how pain feels to somebody else...I've never thought about that lol BUT it definitely was very painful for about 20 seconds and then totally subsided and I was so relieved ❤️
