Bethany, Julie and Eric deserve better than that. Instead of trying to frame Eric by leaving the boy with him and sabotaging the DNA test results, Alex should've done the right thing by taking accountability for his actions and apologize for the inconvenience he's caused his family. He explains that he had an affair with Jamie not too long ago, but when he found out that she was married and her husband learned the truth about their affair from his PI, he destroyed her in that lawsuit. Realizing that he will tell Bethany soon, Alex told Jamie to get lost and ended their affair. He was trying to work his way to tell her everything and apologize. 9 months later, Alex found out that Jamie had given birth to their son, Sam, and abandoned him at his house. Rather than leave him with Eric, he takes the boy in to raise him alongside their daughter, Taylor. Bethany demanded to know why he didn't tell her this sooner. Alex mentions he was working his way to do so before Jamie ruined everything for him. She left him a note telling him that he can have Sam and she's going to look for another rich man to leech off of. Bethany mentions that Alex should've told her this sooner than wait. She would've been more understanding about his situation sooner and raise Sam. Bethany still plans to do so alongside Taylor, but Alex will have to pay for his mistake. She divorces him and kicks him out of their home.

Not only was that wrong but stupid. He did not have to leave his affair child at his brother's home. There are hospitals, first responder stations, and orphanages he could have safely left the baby at. No questions asked. He risked his and his brother's marriages for nothing.

Eric adopted the boy in the end. He knows the latter shouldn't be blamed for Alex's mistakes. As for Julie, she did apologize to Eric for mistrusting him and she should've heard his side of the story instead of believing others opinions.
