I use the Yi 4k action cam. Its hard to find nowawdays and is not water proof, but it does match the gopro in video quality and I have never had a overheating issue. I did try having an external battery for my chest mount and it actually hurt my back after a while with the added weight.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. GoPro is absolutely trash and they keep dropping piles of garbage each year. Remote doesn’t stay connected, camera overheats, seizes, corrupt files, the whole 9 yards. Saving up my pennies to make the switch to a Sony for talking head videos which is 90% what I do.

I still have the overheating issues with the external power source attached, and no battery in the camera. You would think that a company as big as they are, with the money they have, they could come up with a solution. I just think that they know their brand is big enough that people will still buy based on name alone, and I don't think they care. I've contemplated trying one of the other brands, but don't want to spend the money currently.
