My straight neighbor is like Max, and he wants so much to be accepted as a straight man among gays. He goes the distance, we in turn cut him a lot of slack just because we like him, and we also know when to turn down the gay "volume". "Butch boy", as we call him, has his limits.

Even if someone is straight and says he was bullied, you cannot get offended, what do you know about him...many are bullied gay or not gay.

I feel like it's crazy, yes what he said could be taken in an offensive way. Yes I'm aware this is scripted, but just educate the guy don't make him feel bad. You will have him second guessing himself around you everytime he interacts with you guys. He wins points from me because he is at least trying to understand and trying to fit in. We get upset about people making us feel small, and you do the exact same thing to him. Tell me how did you make him feel by saying what you did? We need to watch what we say sometimes. Because look at his reaction after what he said, he got reserved and retreated with his body language. Just saying.

@no name These people may not know the real suffering. I always say, look around you, broaden your horizons and see who really suffers in this world, with no choice.

@no name What you just said makes no sense at all. Max only said that he was bullied when he was in school too. Suffering is not the property of one group or another. In this case, they have chosen to take offense at something that is not offensive.

@no name He said "I know, I was bullied too so... I got you". This persecution and all the mistreatment you described only happen very rarely. Almost the entire population is against all this. In addition, heterosexual people can suffer mistreatment and crime for other reasons, which doesn't mean that the suffering is minor. Daniel and the other guy act like they're living in Baghdad, not California. In the West today, there are much worse things going on and being gay is no longer so difficult.

Hahaha, having a roommate like Max would be awesome. Open minded yet never judgmental or condescending - -just a chill guy. To be honest, the best skits are usually just between Max and Daniel. If a third person comes in, they should be more of a background character.

I wonder if Max living with Daniel is his first time getting to become acquainted with a gay person's lifestyle. Poor Max is just a little ignorant, but he has a great heart and is so willing to learn. It's heartwarming. ❤ I will say though that I was one of those guys that didn't want to be gay. I tried for years to de-gay myself. It really sucked. So I'm right there with you, what you said is true.
