This is awesome! I was recording audio straight into a Screenflow project, but after this I started using Garageband so I could work with the audio a bit more. I bought the NS1 plugin and made the adjustments to match yours. My audio sounds way better now, thanks!

Thank you Graham. I have the option of plugging my Blue Yeti X mic directly into my dslr and then tweaking the audio in FCP X when I bring the whole thing in from my sdi card. I'm wondering if you know of any limitations to doing that way as opposed to capturing the audio in GB and applying the filters there. Might the audio adjustments be easier in a program like GB that is designed for audio? Also, are you shooting the video at the Lumix's full capacity 4K at 30 fps and if so, at what resolution do you export out of FCP?

Thanks again Graham. I appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions. Does the Lumix have the 20 or 30 minute restriction for shooting video? My Nikon D6750 can only shoot for 20 minutes at High Quality and 30 minutes at Normal Quality. If so, how do you address this for you longer videos?

Hi Graham! I just want to say something different. I have a growing interest in digital marketing over the past year and have been building my knowledge and strategies to make my marketing effective. I am a music arranger and producer but it is very painful for me to watch webinars, podcast or marketing videos that people offer solely for the reason that they have super-duper bad audio quality. Your 45-minute workshop, however, was the exception because I enjoyed learning from it. I watched it on my tv to see your slides better and turned up my studio monitors because your audio is such a treat against most and the thousands of marketing videos out there. I want to tell you I'm learning a lot from you maybe because I can resonate with you but most of all, the audio is just so much better than most marketers out there. Keep it up and stay awesome!

Hi Graham, thanks so much for all the great content and advice throughout. One question about recording set up - I have a nice mic, I know my way around logic, etc, but I wonder how to make the sound of the person I am interviewing sound good. When I interview musicians I make them record themselves and send me the track and then I can mix it but that's not possible for everyone. Any suggestions for recording audio for a podcast interview online? thank you!
@GrahamCochrane
@GrahamCochrane 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah - unless they record themselves with a good mic you are dependent on the quality coming in through Zoom or Skype. Just request they use a decent USB mic either way as it will help their quality improve.

Hi Graham do you record into a GarageBand track that already has those plugins and effects activated? For some reason I’ve heard other people say not to, but to record on a raw track and then add the plugins etc after. Why would that matter, or does it? It would be a hassle to worry about that every time you record.

Love it! A thing that I did that saves me time while making videos for my middle school students, is software-monitoring the fully processed audio from my SM7b directly into the microphone jack on the camera. (SM7b -> Interface -> DAW plugins -> Line out -> Canon t6i) The latency is low enough that there are no A/V alignment issues, and if your camera has manual preamp gain, you can pretty much get your final audio right on the original video file. (Been following Recording Revolution since the Golden Age Pre-73 video!)
