Each issue I experienced during this bike build can easily and quickly be rectified by Tavelo. I get the impression Tavelo “rushed” my frame out the door and subsequently overlooked a few small but important areas. Growing pains. But on the road it's a fantastic bike. Also, the production quality in this video is my best to date. Which means it took A LOT of time to plan, film, and produce. If you appreciate these videos then please consider subscribing to my channel. Thank you for your 3 years of support!

Nice build! Regarding the tight headset. Unfortunately it's not too uncommon even on some bigger brands. Pretty much all Kanzo Fast frames have the same problem with STOCK parts. Not saying that justifies anything, quite the opposite. Anyway, nice build and happy to hear Tavelo has managed to pull of a winner! In most regards anyhow ;)

Hi Patrick, just letting you know that I had no head stem or cable routing issues with my Tavelo. The only issue I experience was the seatpost and all the small parts required to install the saddle. I too am waiting the the carbon seat clamps. I too am very happy with how it rides. In terms of weight my frame was a little heavy considering it is advertised as lightweight. I am finding that the CRW wheels need a little time for the bearings to bead in but yes they handle extremely well.

It's surprising to see a Chinese frame so light and astonishingly at a large frame size. With regards to the issues please advise Joe I think he really appreciate the feedback and he takes that back to the manufacturer. Headset cover rubbing issue is VERY common unfortunately. Apparently plastic is harder to build to tolerance. I've built 3 separate branded bikes with different headset covers rubbing. All different manufacturers for the headset covers too. I'd say that issue is more on Farsports not Tavelo. Sanding down the plastic cover is fine. Another fix is installing a very skinny shim or 2 under the cover to raise the headset cover so that it doesn't touch the frame.
@PatrickLino
@PatrickLino 8 ай бұрын
Yeah I couldnt fit a micro-shim (post bike build) because of the design of FarSports' bearing race/clip that sits between the top bearing and plastic headset cover. The hydro cables prevent any shim from sitting flush.

As a Chinese frame user, many of Chinese frames, suffer from one common problem. Alignment issue mostly in axel area. Misalignment will cause wheel bearing wear out quickly and you also lose speed due to bearing grind.

I just built up a Vitus ZX-1 I got for a steal. That frame is absoulutely imaculate!! I didn't even need the cabeling tool to feed the brake hoses through. They went through cleanly on their own. I had a Metron 5D bar already. I have only ridden it on the trainer so far getting the position dialed in, so I cannot attest to how well it rides yet. But I am looking foward to it. Colorado Cyclist and a couple of others have them on sale for $1,900. And I went with SRAM, so I cannot attest to how a Di2 cable would run.

Thanks for watching, and offering your experience! I did see the Vitus ZX-1 on sale myself too. Very tempting. One of the pro-level crit teams here in the USA (Austin Aviators) use those frames, which is more than enough cosign for me. On the front mech/chainring compatibility with the Ultegra front mech I noticed the same thing that the FD8150 is only rated to 52t. I'm actually running a 53/36 with 9100/8100 rings ob the same magene PES and have absolutely no issues, not even clunky or slow shifting at the front. I reckon it's the non Shimano rings that contribute more.
@PatrickLino
@PatrickLino 8 ай бұрын
Upon closer inspection I noticed the chainring "ramps" that aid in shifting up to the big chainring aren't as robust on Magene's chainring as Shimano. This is most likely the culprit. Any shift issues (in with the rear cassette) using 11-speed chainrings?

@PatrickLino

The R12 is marketed as a race bike, but quite frankly everything about it lends to be more endurance including the geometry. This is of course isn’t a bad thing. It’s a very comfortable ride as an entire package and doesn’t beat you up. If you’re looking for an actual race bike with the stiffness, responsiveness, and handling to match…Winspace and Tavelo are far better choices for that specific application. SEKA's geometry isn't close to Tavelo at all. For my size 56 the SEKA Exceed has 21mm taller stack, and 3mm less reach. Considering I'm already on the extreme size limits for a 56, those differences are significant. Especially the stack height. Can you do a TIDEACE FM-CRO25 super light frame build and review? They seem solid but interested in what you might think if you can do this build.

I wish these Chinese bike companies would get some help naming their companies/bikes. Tavelo Velobuild Yoeleo Winspace Elves Tan Tan All these bikes look great but I would opt for a non branded version of these bikes to not have the name on the downtube.

That is possible. If you are company you can buy the frame+fork+seat post. No paint, hangers, bolts, headset or anything else.

@@pennetierphilippe8529 Even considering the $500 price, I have some questions about their build quality. Keep in mind Hygge is just a sales brand/agent. Not a factory or OEM supplier.

Those issues are pretty disappointing for that price tbh, especially the decals and issues screwing in the through axles. But it's early days for this company. Also, their Chinese competitors provide handlebars. Seems like a good crit bike.

I've built up tolerance with troubleshooting bike build quirks like these. End of the day carbon frames are being made by humans. Still annoying but not anything that can't be resolved.

Hi, is that the same frame like the lightcarbon LCR017-D? Do Lightcarbon produce this frame? It has T47 BB instead of BB86 but otherwise they look the same to me.
