Potential fix for the bipod issue is you could get an ARCA adapter for the bipod and put like an 8-12” section of ARCA on the bottom of your hand guard. This gives you more adjustability of bipod placement and could gain you some more height out of your bipod by mounting it closer. The flat base of the ARCA is also nicer for positional shooting due to the flatter hand guard resisting tilt.

Tip for in the field bipod fix, if you can move the bipod closer to the rifle, it will allow you more room for when your bipod is not tall enough. That's if you can move it in the field

I have that same scope and I agree. Grouping at 100m is hard because it covers the whole target. But I've also made practical hits out to 700 with it.

For prone shots at extreme distance you can use a 10 or 20 round magazine. At that distance, you have time. And the general rule of thumb for a practical rifle is 1x per 100 yds, which puts the Razor 1-6 in the sweet spot for 5.56

I dont have your schedule but I have the same conversation with myself. Limited time, which skills to I want to work on. LR stuff isnt a priority. Pistol is for work and CCW. Without question. The a lot of my rifle work(which is like 25% or less) is doubles and 100Yards plus.

I love my atlas bipod. That said each situation is different and Atlas has tall models. I have a 4x Acog on my IWI X95 and was able to hit 660 yards with a little wind in like 10-15 shots. Was my first time shooting that far w 5.56. Love the video Ben, glad to see you got some more carbine time!

The NF ATACR or NX 1-8 or vortex 1-10 have better reticles for long distance Also the center dot for the new NF DMX reticle is smaller making it better for precision shots
@Blue.memetics2 ай бұрын
I firmly believe the FC-DMx reticle is the overall best reticle available for LPVOs but the reticle in the Razor II probably makes more sense for the type of shooting Ben is more likely to do.
@MellowFellowOfYellow2 ай бұрын
@@Blue.memeticsthe FC-DMx is terrible on 1x without illumination. Really defeats the purpose of it being in an LPVO.

Isn't the olympic style shooting overall a different skill than IPSC -style fast shooting? It looks same, but requirements are rather different; No time pressure, but need to be ultimate accurate. Same can be replicated when shooting pistol.

I highly recommend looking at 6mm ARC or 6mm Max. Both cartridges are small frame and can reach out to 1000 yards easy. I’ve shot 2 rounds at 800 yards before I hear the impact of the first round, super impressive and a ton of fun.
@MichaelVain2 ай бұрын
Good video. If you are going to go into large frame AR, I would go get a KAC SR25 and get a course from Jack Leuba and Ash Hess from Quantified Performance. They are both employed at Knights. They host matches, etc. Thank you for continuing to post videos!
@HWG-wm8ld2 ай бұрын
You don’t need to spend that kind of money for a rifle. Plenty that are the same quality for less.
@MichaelVain2 ай бұрын
He just spent $5000 on a Staccato XC which is just a pistol. Pretty sure money is not an issue. Reliability, performance and durability seems to be attributes that Ben looks for. The SR25 family checks all those boxes especially the bolt.

Are you still hard target focus, with your reticle blurry, like when shooting a red dot?
@hajduk_lives2 ай бұрын
You’re target focused when shooting a scoped rifle, but the reticle and the target are on the same plane, so the reticle is not blurry, nor is the target.

In keeping your rifle as more of a generalist setup with the 1-6, do you plan to keep the bipod on it? To put it differently, would you rather run the long range work (matches, classes, etc) without a bipod, or run close range work with it?

Exactly once you get past right at 600 yards the bullet starts to open up significantly. No way you're consistent with wind holding and adjusting. Bullet just doesn't have that much going for it at sniper ranges.

I dunno Ben, I get what you're saying about training on those 2moa targets at 100. You definitely can develop skill that way in terms of fundamentals and such. BUT...I think for you that might actually be a waste of time. Don't you already have those skills? Like, you know how to shoot a rifle. You know how to pull the trigger. For someone at your level--wouldn't reading the wind be the main thing you would need to develop? I guess I don't know what would really be different from how you normally shoot a rifle. I only practice out to 500m cuz that is what I have available.
@bruiserindustriesllc2 ай бұрын
I do more work at 100y then I do anything else. I also have chatted with Bryan Morgan at hat creek who says same thing. Distance is data and wind reading. Fundamentals and position building can be done a ton at 100y.
