The beat part of this whole event for me was the genuine curiosity people on the couch had for the games that were being played. Just made it feel like a bunch of friends hanging out showing off their skills

There is something purely comedic about a proposal, something that is a milestone for most couples to possibly start the rest of their lives together, being not only immortalized on twitch, but there's just a dude in a snowman costume in the background. Idk why this is so funny to me but it is.

The only bad thing about the event was the minority of elitist 'speedrunners' who hated on it. This event wasn't for you, go back to your obscure corner of the internet and act superior there.

I don't think it was unjustified to be irritated that a strong chunk of the initial runners announced were content creators who are competent runners, but not usually the top-level talent that a major marathon would pull in. Now, many people took it too far, I'm not defending the people who were vile about it, but there are a lot of decently popular top-level runners to choose from, people and games that would not normally get to be seen. It was never about elitism, it was quite the opposite, people felt like we weren't getting enough variety and that was a real shame. In the end, all of this backlash would've been avoided if Ludwig had made it clear it was meant to be a content-creator focused event. His initial teaser post made it seem like it was purely focused on showcasing speedrunning at its best, thus the backlash when the news dropped. What ludwig did was great and I hope this doesn't dissuade him from running another one, the setup was just handled a bit poorly.
