My Thoughts on the MAJOR Amex Gold Changes

How bad are these upcoming amex gold changes? The Amex gold and Amex business gold cards are receiving some updates for the future. With all things said and done, I do not think these are game changing blows. Yes, they make the cards worse. The personal amex gold card is objectively worse while the business versions is subjectively worse. Since this was a minor update to the personal Amex gold card we can expect some sort of major update to it as soon as 1 year from now (probably sooner).
What are your thoughts on these changes?

Honestly, I think the biggest negative change to the Business Gold is that they took away the 25% rebate when you book with points. That alone is a big reason a lot of folks had this card, so to take that away was a bad move in my opinion. Great video all around Chase! 👊🏼

Chase……I know you didn’t disrespect rose gold the way you did! (I’m back here catching up on videos now). The Walmart + credit really has me scratching my head on this one 😬 and I’m confused that they got rid of the shipping purchases category. Yo, I’m so happy that I didn’t get the platinum card as yet. At least I can still get a SUB for the platinum card. By the way Chase….dont forget to grabs rose gold card 👀

My original idea for the business gold was to get the sign up bonus and then cancel after the first year. With these changes and this being the only Amex card with good multipliers on gas, I am so tempted to cancel my personal gold card and keep the business card and my personal platinum as my "amex duo". Let my parents sign up for Walmart+ and charge my Business Gold card since I don't need two Wally+ subscriptions. 😂

@@Austin-mp7ci I would think they have the right to do so. Thus I plan accordingly which is why I mainly use my business gold for category spend like consumables (gas/food).

Got tired of waiting for CSP for an elevated offer from Chase, so I applied for Amex Gold personal yesterday and approved for 90k bonus no hard pull. I had to jump on it before annual fee goes up.

I'm making moves finish off the year strong. I now I will garden for 10 months and get the CSP for the summer hopefully. I got some renovations to do and appliances to purchase@@ImStillStealingSteel

I got the Gold Business in July and plan on dropping it when the renewal comes. I got it for the Sub bonus, but it’s not work almost $400 for me. There is also too much overlap with the regular Gold. Chase, the Bank, is looking better and better! Lol.

Totally Agree, Chase and thanks for the shoutout!!! This is Amex's formula and it's trade off for a ton of points, great benefits and CS. We are in the golden age of rewards cards with tons of options!
