I just took the Swedish nurse exam. I am an American who was educated as a nurse in the US and has been a registered nurse in America for 12 years. I specialize in diabetes management and intensive care. I compare the NCLEX from USA with the NKSE from Sweden and tell you how it went for me.

@@becurious2000 Also, with your level of experience and education I think you’ll be able to get a really good position when you pass the exam and feel comfortable with the language. I almost feel a bit embarrassed that the Swedish system treats educated people so harsh. And makes it really hard with bank accounts and personnunmer and other bureaucracy…

I would love to have that notes you use to study with. I took the nkse last August and I failed on the written part. I passed the calculation tho. I dont know where to focus since nursing is so broad. I took the nclex and passed on 75 and I would rather take nclex 10x than NKSE. Flew in Sweden 9 months ago and I am really eager to pass the test.

I believe it’s “specialistsjuksköterska”. It’s a master degree. In the USA you can assess patients and prescribe meds. In some states you can work independently without a physician

Here in the US I failed an interpreting exam that 1/3 of NATIVE SPEAKERS (of that language) failed. I took a 3hour workshop in how to present information for the exam. I called it a 'gift wrapping' workshop. This was the structure: #1: Here's the problem #2: Here's your real world answer as a working interpreter #3: Here's how to say #2 so you'll get full credit. I took the exam again and passed with flying colors!!!😂😂😂 Funny thing is that in grad school I took a course in test construction and we were taught it was a major no-no to have a difference in phrasing (as opposed to content) make the difference between a 'right' and 'wrong' answer.

You're talking about being *an interpreter.* Phrasing can be very important when interpreting since there are connotations and more/less difficult/ambiguous sentence structures, etc. Native speakers often don't talk or otherwise present information in clearest ways. (Just look at transcripts of some speeches.) An interpreter has to surpass that. Details may matter. So, what you're missing there is that phrasing *is* content. That #2 may be an incorrect answer because of it, and also actually a wrong thing to do for a working interpreter even if it is natural and "good enough" language for most cases. Not being clear and unambiguous may have catastrophic consequences.

What are the salaries like in sweden including col compared to the us?
@becurious2000

I should probably do a whole video on that lol. Its a bit complicated. Looking at it hour by hour its less than in America but its less stressful, better work life balance, you get 5 weeks paid vacation, 6 weeks if you're over 40 years old, paid sick days, paid maternal and paternal leave, and many other benefits. So I believe, if you average in all that other stuff, it becomes about the same or possibly more.

@@becurious2000 Yes you can try.. but its probably even more dificult then pass the nurse test? Becuse, after paying ones taxes in sweden, many things is free or at a low cost, when USA citicens have to pay a lot more for insurances after taxes! An example.. in sweden every employeer pays 33% above your salary to the state, that take care of a lot of goverment spending.. like ones pension funds, our military/police/customs, national infrastructure, sciens, payd sick days, parental payd leave.. that sort of things that every modern country have? Its like comparing apples and banans.. both fruits.. wich is best? Soo, it depend who you are, I think that an Lamborgini is cheaper in USA, but that a family living cost is cheaper in sweden? And I altso have contra question, how much is a universety student payd by goverment in USA? In sweden they get 3013 sek a month (about 300 dollars) to study.. and they can a small loan on top of that! Its alredy prepayd with taxes of there parents!
