Kapper Outdoors 2.0 Excavation & Land Management

Күн бұрын

Join me for a near live preview video of my 2nd time ever in the cab of our newest rental excavator out at Project 291! In today's episode I will be using our excavator rental a Komatsu PC88 20,000 lb excavator to begin clearing a destination food plot on our Project 291 property. During todays video I will be making some observations and comparisons between this 20,000 lb excavator and my bobcat e42 R2 series mini excavator which is a 10,000 lb mini excavator. The komatsu PC88 does have a lot of 'eco' modes, and also it does require def fluid and is very 'eco friendly.' However, I am pretty sure that this beautiful machine is sorely lacking the power that it ought to have for it's size, weight and horsepower, and my best 'guess' as to why it seems to be lacking power is... well, you know, because it IS 'Eco Friendly!'
Until now we have been using my Bobcat e42 r2 series mini excavator, but since we have many acres to clear, and many miles of new roads and trails to clear we decided to go ahead and rent a much larger excavator, hence this Komatsu PC88 excavator. Be sure to like and subscribe to join us for this epic land investing and land improvement project that will be ongoing for quite some time. So far we have sold one 20 acre parcel from this 291 acre farm, and the 2nd 30 acre parcel is under contract. Also we are getting a logging bid from several loggers from 4 different states, so you will definitely want to subscribe to follow along on this incredible land investing adventure! We don't yet know if we will be logging it or not, but we will be documenting the entire process of the land improvements as well as the timber broker's tree marking process and logging bidding process as well. Depending on the logging bids we will decide if we are going to have the property logged or not. But this project property will be such an adventure in so many ways, that it is sure to be a fun life learning event, as well as an educational land investing property as well! Thanks for joining us today and as always if you enjoyed this video please hit the like button and consider sharing this video as we are the real deal here.. We are the 'little guys' just trying to get ahead in life through hard work, diligence and land investing. Thank you. We hope to see you again on the next episode! #kapperoutdoors #kapperoutdoors2 #southernillinoisland #southernillinois #logging #loggingyourland #komatsu #komatsupc88 #diylogging #diyexcavator

Thanks man, and I know what you mean on the health curveballs! I've had several of them and I could easily sit home all day with the excuse of bad health. But I literally force myself to get out and do this stuff even though I may not feel up to it. As my mom used to say, there's no time for a pity party! Best of luck with your situation I hope you can make some dreams happen yet! Take care

Might be worth checking the settings as it's possible they might default to ECO settings when the machine is shut down for the day 🤔 nice video though 👍

Guy is running a 18k lb machine and expecting it to clear like a 50k lb machine. Also that size machine doesn’t take DEF fluid, it is under 75 hp.

pretty sure I saw the locking cap for DEF fluid.

Hold on Kap, there might be an ECO setting on the computer for that thing that will leave it underpowered. see if you can fiddle with the settings and find it or call the rental shop and ask the mechanic, they would much rather tell you on the phone than come do a service call on it.

Sorry man, I really had to use the restroom and made my comment before finishing the video; you addressed what I said. The phone call still stands. maybe even google could help.

yeah we did both. With it being a new machine the owner was not that familiar with the computer stuff (and judging by both Curtis and I spending time sifting through the settings, you need at least a 2 year computer degree to navigate it all!)

It would be nice for sure, but with such a high stem count it would take a long time!

If it's a rental machine it's probably turned down for longevity.

Do you have a video anywhere talking about your method with the bobcat? (Seems the easiest for a noob to use). I have an area I’m clearing with similar trees. Was going to rent something but I’m not sure what. Been doing it by hand lol

Well I started just like you! I'm not sure I have a specific video on the technique but now that you mention it, I sure could make a 'how to' for people that rent a machine to do some land clearing! I'll add it to my 'way behind' list of things to do! Thanks and best of luck.

That's too bad it seems under powered for it's size compared to your Bobcat. The thumb design could be better for grabbing smaller material.

I seriously doubt that. These newer diesel machines runs pretty clean, and they have to have the DEF systems as well that are supposed to be much cleaner.

@@KapperOutdoors2.0 that's pure political bullshit, the polute 1000000 times more that those older straight piped engines...i deleted everyting from my diesel engine and have better emissions then original
