It is so nice to watch the things you do. It is so different from my days it really makes me aware and appreciate all farmers go through to feed us and provide for our needs and wants. This past week Ive been pup sitting for my grand doggie while his dad is out of state of a fun trip so I needed to drive 25-50 minutes each way home and back to take care of my home responsibilities and back to stay with my grandpup. ( through down town Seattle and it’s unpredictable traffic) my kitties do not like the dog…. Throw in getting a load of gravel delivered 20 minutes in a different direction and slowly shoveling and wheelbarrowing it to where we want it as well as sealing/ painting in an empty rental house. I’m so blessed to be able to do all that as next month I’ll turn 77 and beat 2 different cancers! I bet at 77 you will be running circles around me with all the irons you have in the fire!

Always love watching ,my dad leased the family farm my grand parent and the aunts and uncles had in the south west corner of Kansas ,My great grandmother convinced all the wives and sons to homestead the land,.My dad handled the crop and decided when the best time sell was, before he passed away 15 years ago,he sold it to the man that leased it.I just wish I had understood and appriciated the work and techniques that went into managing the land. I think dad made the right decision as all of the kids and grand kids were so removed from the farm experience, but I hated that is is no longer in the family.

I've been thinking about you guys all week. I recall the day you were talking about. It was beautiful, warm in the sunshine, and then, boom, just like that the clouds rolled in and it was cold and breezy. It was a bit rainy. I thought maybe you guys could catch up on drying the corn, and taking turns sleeping while it rained. I'm in Warren County, sometimes your weather is much nicer than here. I have relatives from Decorah, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Warren County. My mother grew up on a farm during the depression, and moved to Decorah, the to Waterloo. She went to school with Dan Gable, the Olympic wrestler and coach. I was born in Waterloo, but lived in Cedar Falls, and moved to Warren County at 3 years old. It's a very rural community, sadly a lot of farms are now apartments and stores. I don't see as many fields unplanted this year! I love watching fields all year long. You can tell the change of season just watching. Even in the winter...our city sometimes has to haul the snow away, into our fields. We've got many windmills and cell towers in our fields. Ive got pictures of our farmland while flying in a hot air balloon. I've flown several times while crewing for the first female pilot. We don't hold the Nationals anymore, but we still have a festival. They are beautiful to watch. Someday, I can send pictures, but my daughter will need to help me. I'm not very tech savvy 😅. Have a great week Daddy Cornstar 😊

My daddy and I always were sorting our tools out from each other. So to solve that problem I painted mine with a spray can bright blue ,he sprayed his red. Easy to spot my socket in his box and his tool in my box. Caution never paint them green they are hard to find in in the field.

A thought, DC; why doesn't the grain shack have a dedicated set of tools? Like the slide cranks and wrenches needed to open hand holes, break down clogged augers and such? Tools that should never leave the bin area. Cole's clean up certainly revealed enough loose tools to do most of it from what you have on hand. It wouldn't be a bad idea if all the trucks you commonly use during planting and harvest has a dedicated tool set- another possibility from Cole's "harvest" . ON the trailer slides, I'd make a crank from something 1" or bigger and weld a different socket to either end; two or three cranks like that , kept at the grain shack, would do you a treat.

To avoid getting moisture in your fuel tanks, keep them topped up. As I’m sure you know your fuel pump bypasses back into your tanks and heats up the fuel in there throughout the day or run time. So keeping them full leave no room for moisture to accumulate when it cools down while engine is shut down.

Love the vids DC !! Why not have Cooper make a handful of crank handles for the trucks bin gates since they seem to run from 'too long' breaking bars, crescent wrenches etc, to whatever's handy ? A few sockets, some bar stock with a long carriage bolt thru a length of iron pipe for the free spin part of the handle would be fast & easily replaced.

WOW harvesting your crops is hard work. I lived across the street from a farm once and late one night I woke up with my bed shaking. I looked out the window and all I saw was theses bright lights. I thought aliens had landed. The next morning my neighbor explained that combines were expensive and the guy who owned it hired himself and machine out to pay for it. There is a limited time to harvest so he worked like you guys did around the clock to get everyone’s corn or beans done. I understand a lot more now watching you and the boys work. I had a corn burner once and went to the co-op to buy corn. It is all making sense now. I watch Cole to get info and inspiration and I watch you for fun and relaxation. Wonder what grandpa would think of all these new fangled contraptions.
