Citadels is a neat idea but there’s so much downtime even in a 3 player game as the active drafter stares at the hand of cards and tries to work out the best choice for themselves as well as what all the other players may have taken or may want to take. Selecting that one character is an enjoyable decision, but waiting for 5-7 others to do so while you do nothing sounds dreadfully boring.

My recommendations (both up to 8) - Saboteur and Killer Bunnies: Quest for the Magic Carrot. A friend introduced me and my husband to the first, and we immediately loved the play style. Faction of good/evil trying to reach/sabotage a common goal, with lots of accusation. The second is another friend favorite: there are so many expansions and fun cards that the game is always different and you never know *exactly* if you’re winning or not: everyone with a carrot has a chance! It’s such a chaotic and silly game, both for kids and adults.

Referring to some of the people asking for light games in the beginning of your video, my recommendation would be my most played game ever...Sequence. If anyone doesn't know Sequence it's for 2-12 players, is VERY light, can be played with kids to grandparents, and is especially good for non-gamers. I also love playing with experienced players where we use the "loss of card" rule whereas if you forget to take a card by the time the next player finishes their turn you lose a card and have a disadvantage for the rest of the game. Of course we skip this rule for kids and new players. They even have a "giant" version for people with bad eyesight. BTW great list Dave.

@@SKGuna_writer There are SO many games out there! And so many new and fantastic games every year! 😱 400+ plays is a lot but that's mostly because my primary gaming group really likes learning and playing new games, not necessarily replaying the same games over and over! 😅 I think really diving deep into ~100 games sounds great!
@SKGuna_writer

@@BoardGameDave You are absolutely right! I do play the same games multiple times so I can confidently say that I've explored every aspect of its design. And up until about five years ago, I played games at a snail's pace because I only had a single group of board gaming friends, and scheduling was a lot tougher as a result. However, ever since diversifying my gaming groups, I get more sessions in, and learn new games along the way that I've always been wanting to play. For instance, I recently played Trickerion - and it was fantastic! I love the theme; it reminds me so much of that underrated Chris Nolan film, The Prestige. I can't wait to dive back into that game and explore everything it offers. 😁

My recommendation for up to 9 players would be Tortuga 1667. The social deduction aspect of it usually resolves itself quickly (unless there’s an odd number of players and an extra sneaky Dutch player) and then you’re left with a light team strategy game. It is important to understand all the cards in the game when playing, so I’ve found players usually like it much more their second time around.

My recommendation is SUPER MEGA LUCKY BOX! It's gamer's bingo and it's so easy to teach. The box says 1-6 but the rulebook itself says you can use two copies of the game for a 12 player game. I understand that 1-4 is the most common player count for boardgames. Gone are the days when games tend to be 3-5 with 2p as a variant. 😂😂 I come from the Puerto Rico/Caylus generation of gamers. Still, for high player count, my immediate thoughts are 7 Wonders which was covered. A classic I still enjoy is Citadels that goes to 8 players. Another worthy mention is Antike which is the grandfather of rondel for Mac Gertz to play up to 6 players. I made a point for the recommendations to be non-party games. 😊🎉
