I really appreciate your desire to help us find the right Bible. I am new to premium Bibles and as I have invested in them, I find my tastes are clarifying. I have the five volume CSB readers Bible. I used it in 2022 for my annual pilgrimage through the Bible. It is a wonderful reading experience. More like reading a book

Awesome list! I may have to do a video like this! I think one Bible that it’s pushing it’s way up to one of my favorites is the “NIV SCR Personal size” has such a clean layout and nice size IMO.

I am so glad I found your channel. I am fairly new to reading and studying the Bible, started this year (2023). I have recently rekindled my relationship with the Lord and the more I learn about His words, the more and more I’m finding myself looking/searching at so many Bibles and translations. I thought I was going nuts about it too and I didn’t realize that there’s a big community out there (like yours) that are into it! So I got curious and looked here on KZfaq! And voila! having watched your NLT quentell review earlier i was really expecting to see that in there if not at no. 1 because of how much you were loving it in your review. it looked like an absolutely gorgeous bible i wish green ones were still available i missed out when they were first released. i love the blue of the NKJV too that ones really nice. eta i have a green niv psq which is my no. 1 i love it it's perfect

I also have that NKJV. It is a stunner. I added darker art gilt and Berisford ribbons to my copy. I have a spot booked with Logos. Considering a handy size LSB. Too many good ones to choose from.

My favourite is Crossway’s ESV Preaching Bible, Verse-by-Verse Edition - Black Goatskin - single column. Awesome! A.

I love your selections, Tim. Here are mine: The CSB PSQ in Tuscany Calfskin with the Full Yapp is in the 2nd spot. My number 1 is my preaching Bible, the Handcrafted CSB Verse by Verse in brown goatskin. The LSB 2 column Verse by Verse in brown goatskin is third. 4th is my ESV Quentel in slate goatskin (a gift from my family when I was ordained). And last is probably my ESV personal size study Bible with the Burgundy leathersoft cover (I teach from it all the time).

I like the PSQ/PSC. Thinking about getting the dark purple PSC. But on the rebind, what is your personal favorite rebind company? Watching the part 3 of the giveaway and those rebinds look nice! Thinking about maybe one day getting one of my bibles rebound. Hope to win that MEV though lol, and thanks for the videos.

Tim - really appreciate your insights and excitement about God’s Word. I know you shy away from these type questions, I’ve got an Allan but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Crossway Heirloom Heritage v the Schuyler Stridon. Also, are there other colors available beyond what Evangelical Bible shows?

I have 4 PSQ's, too Tim! These bibles have to be my all time favourite reads. Thye fit the hand beautifully and the text size can be read any time so easily. Mine are the Imperial blue NKJV, British Tan ESV, Marbled Merlot calfskin f y ESV, and Dark green ESV. Thanks for your top 5. Your ESV rebind #1 is gorgeous! Btw, I just ordered Crossway ESV personal reference single column in black and brown same as yours, here in Australia, for only $59 with postage!

I have a copy of the 1952 Revised Standard Version published by the Melton Company. Cover came in red and black. Bible is in great shape for being over 70n years old. My black cover fell apart and I was able to pick up a red cover version on ebay.

I have the #1, great bible. I just wish the font was a bit more bold, which would automatically make it my go to. Otherwise I use the NKJV single column compact reference in genuine leather. Phenomenal layout and font. I have the premium SC reference, but the compact always end up in my hands. Might get it rebound because of that.

Interesting…your personal preferences. I start with which translation. Not a CSB fan, even though translator were from various backgrounds, still printed mostly by one denomination. 2nd - ESV - clouded in my mind as another revision of RSV with a modern new name for marketing. Plus so like the NASB, that I prefer since I used for 40+ years…

Thank you, Tim. I would love the limited edition NKJV Thinline Large Print Premier in the blue goatskin (blue is my favourite colour), but like you I missed out when it was published. Have looked for ages online but can't get one anywhere (especially difficult from the UK). Even second-hand stores don't have it, which I guess is testament to the quality and look of this Bible, that no-one is letting it go.

uk here too i have the brown one green is my favourite colour including for bibles normally but my the blue one in the vid is the nicest blue bible i've seen shame it was a ltd edition for those that missed out!

The NKJV Large Print Thinline is such great value! In addition to their standard brown and black goatskin, they have now done limited editions in both blue and green... but, as one of those red guys, I'm still waiting for the RED! And they've been doing an amazing red goatskin (far superior to Schuyler's latest attempts at red) on other Bibles (the KJV single column verse by verse). C'mon Thomas Nelson, give us red lovers some love!!!

I bought my daughter a purple Schuyler Quentel in NKJV with the silver/blue gilding not too long ago. I'm actually a little jealous of her now. It's a beautiful Bible and very soft and floppy. There's something about a floppy Bible that I just love.

My top 5 are Cambridge NRSV brown cowhide, NRSV UE Zondervan goatskin, KJV topaz blue, NIV Thompson chain zondervan goatskin and NRSV purple personal size large print for carrying to church and bible study.

The Schuyler PSQ is what I take to Church/Bible Study. I did get the Sarah James cover- the same pattern as you have! I gave her the PSQ dimensions from the seller's spec sheet, and the Bibles fit like a glove. The NKJV in the PSQ is slightly thicker and a bit tighter. What are the dimensions she made for you? I might get another one slightly larger. I also got a larger one from her for my Quintels, but I tend to use that for study guides as I don't travel with the Quintels very much.

Awesome! I watched your review of the Bibliotheca Bible, and I’m still left wondering why you might prefer it above the 6 Volume ESV Reader’s Bible set. I see that the pages of the Bibliotheca don’t have headers like the ESV set and that the justification differs. Any other factors? I’m intrigued by it but not sure if it warrants another purchase as I already have the ESV set. Thanks for your reviews! They are so fun to watch!

Have you come across the Ronald Knox Translation of the Bible. It's one of my favorites, along with his book which discusses the trials of translating the Scriptures from Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek into Modern English (Trials of a Translator, republished under the title, On Englishing the Bible) He also published a couple of Commentaries, which are well written.

When teaching Bible as Literature, I found that each "book" of the Bible really invited a separate "book" approach. Since most of the students already had a Bible, I assigned the Oxford Companion to the Bible and taught primarly from The New Oxford Annotated Bible with the Apocrypha (RSV; 1977). Obviously I found Metzger a reliably objective scholar. But I also had to prep discussions from individual editions, usually the Anchor Bible in both older and newer series. We also looked at non-canonical books and Jesus Seminar publications. You have a more aesthetic approach to the physical books themselves: I was satisfied with sturdy buckram on a sewn binding. But like you, I found that one is rarely enough.

I don't suppose anything I have really qualifies as premium. I've never been able to afford anything really fancy or expensive. But my five favorites are: 1. LSB handy size 2. 1995 NASB Zondervan compact reference - specifically my "old ZCR" that I wore out over 20 years or so 3. Tolle Lege modern type reprint of the 1599 Geneva Bible 4. A hard cover ASV 5. Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible - this was my ordination Bible back in 1986
