Hey Adrian, thanks so much for watching! Those are all great lenses as well, which just highlights how many options there are for the m4/3 format which is of course awesome. While I don't have either Sigma lens, I do have others in those focal lengths. I personally really love the longer reach of the 75mm, so I wouldn't trade it for 2 shorter lenses that overlap other things I already have. I can totally see your reasoning for choosing those 2 for yourself though. I like the 17mm, but I still prefer the Leica as it feels better in hand to me, as I really love the manual aperture ring. I am a huge fan of vintage lenses, and this is a modern version of that older design but with auto focus of course. As I mentioned, I have some other similar focal lengths but the Leica remains my favorite. Thanks again for watching and happy shooting!

Hey David, thanks so much for watching! I also owned the 40-150 Oly lens for a while but I ended up selling it. It was a bit large and heavy for me, and after I got a closer look at a friend's Leica 50-200, I just fell in love with that smaller lens with a bit longer reach. It's actually my number six, so just one point shy of making this list! lol. I agree 100% with you though on the combination of the 12-35 with the 40-150 + extenders. You really have nearly every focal length covered in just 2 lenses, and if you add the Oly 45 for portraits (and maybe the Laowa 7.5 for wide angle) you are totally set for every situation. If it weren't so beat up and "ugly" I would just sell it and get the Leica, but no one wants to pay much for a lens that looks as ugly as mine LOL. I love the smaller Laowa primes too, just makes more sense for me to carry something smaller since I only need a super-wide angle every once in a while. I do hope you enjoy it though. @@JeevesTCW hey Richard that’s awesome, congrats on the new lens! I’m sure it’s an amazing lens, I never have doubted that for a minute. My issue is I find that I leave my 7-14 behind in favor of smaller primes, and the Laowa is the smallest, so I can carry more primes and only 1 zoom. I’m sure I would love the lens, but I would likely not want to carry it around if it’s similar to the 7-14, which i know that it is. Enjoy it tho! I know you will get some great images with it. That is funny, we have many of the same lenses! I still have not sprung for the Laowa, but now I am eyeing the Panasonic 9mm f/1.7 instead. LOL So happy to hear you also love the 15/45/75 trio, it's pretty hard to beat IMO. Thanks so much for watching, and happy shooting :)

Hey Niklas, I have a friend who loves her 14-140mm for the same reason. We all have a our priorities and preferences. I love primes myself and I don't care for variable apertures, but it is nice not to have to change lenses all the time. There's always a trade off, I guess. Hey Mathieu, thanks so much for watching! That a great list, thanks for sharing! I don't have the Meike either (I have the LUMIX 8mm f/3.5 fisheye lens). I'm not a big fan of the hard black vignette, but if you like that effect, you might want to consider a cheap fisheye/macro adapter just to give it a try. Not the greatest quality, but it will give you that look on a wider lens (like a 12mm, for example). Here are a couple of options with different thread sizes if you want to take a look (make sure you get one that will fit on the lens(es) you already have). amzn.to/3hmo7In amzn.to/3w1AFci I am also very curious about your 60mm macro, which you say it would be your one and only if you had to choose, but it's your #2(?) I of course love the 75 and obviously agree, but what is the reason it beats out your macro 60? I have the 45mm f/2.8 macro by LUMIX and it is an awesome lens, but I rarely shoot macro, so it doesn't get as much use from me over the 45 f/1.8. I like the idea of the 60mm focal length being in between the 45 and 75, so perhaps if I had that one, I would like it more? Ah, so many great lens out there, wouldn't it be great to just have them all, lol.

@@graphiknation Hey Lauren, thanks for making this video! Thanks for the tip, thats a much more affordable option for that fisheye effect. I currently only own the 7-14 pro by Olympus in that range, and also the Zuiko 14-150 II which is a decent zoom for a kit lens (but not very good f stop). I'll see if I can adapt those. I like the effect of the hard vignette fisheye, but I know that is probably a novelty that I'll eventually get over with once I shoot several times with it :P For the 60mm macro. I rank it lower than the 75mm for the sole reason that I just get more raw enjoyment when I slap on the beautiful 75mm. The combination of great bokeh, and a focal length that I prefer is just sublime to me, unbeatable and an argument against this sony full-frame craze. But technically, I consider the 60 a more "versatile" focal length, and it can also shoot mind-blowing macro shots. It was always on my camera before I purchased the 75. As for you already owning the 75mm and 45mm, it's a bit of a hard sell... The 60mm in non-macro use "feels" a bit more like a 45 mm than the 75mm (I know that technically makes zero sense, 60 is its own length, but maybe you'll see what I mean haha). Consider it if you want to go take walks in the forest and are only bringing one lens. You'll be able to slow down and take occasional macros of what you encounter, a meditative experience really, but you'll also have the capability to take a 45mm-like portrait shot of whatever comes at you. It is also weather-sealed and quite affordable! Pretty much a perfect lens really And yes so many tempting lenses out there... Currently eyeing the new non-pro Oly 100-400mm but its so darn expensive. The reasonable voice in my mind says I should hold off at least a year, but its so hard! The 40-150 f2.8 Pro is also beautiful, with a 2x converter, but do I "need" it? :D ahhh!

@@polyfission2776 Awe man, I feel you on the 40-150 pro, believe me because I paid full retail price for it a few years ago. It's obnoxiously enormous for me though, so I ended up selling it, with plans to buy the Leica 50-200, which is smaller, lighter AND longer (and up to 400mm with a 2X converter). I haven't pulled the trigger on that new lens yet either, just due to priorities (and again, overlap on a different system) but I thought you might enjoy my most recent video, since it's all about this focal length! lol You must have read my mind. ;) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f8eKgqyY27HVkYE.html Just a sidetone on the 100-400 LUMIX/Leica version), it's a superb lens if you shoot a lot of telephoto, like wildlife or sports or something. I personally don't mind the size and weight of this lens because of it's massive reach, it's totally worth it. I have rented it for specific shoots in the past, and that was a great use of money and resources IMO, since I don't need that long reach every day (it's only $105 for 7 days at lens rentals.com). It's a very personal decision to make, but for me, I would get the 50-200 Leica to start with, and maybe add the 2X teleconverter later down the road. But if you need that long reach, the 100-400 on M4/3 is hard to beat, on any system. :)

It's a great little lens, and I really enjoy that focal length, but I have the oldest version, and the auto focus is a little sluggish on mine. @@graphiknation I hate to say it, but I have version2 of the 20mm. The autofocus is still a bit sluggish. Of course "sluggish" is relative. I like light and compact, so it suits me. I can relate to what you are saying about the bigger lenses. I look forward to watching more of your videos.

@@datapro007 yeah, I can't really rely on the 20mm in auto focus at all when I'm shooting video, but it's totally fine for shooting stills. I do also enjoy manual focus so not a deal breaker for me anyway. I bought the 20mm years ago, and I still keep it around even though I rarely need it. I did in fact use it to film much of this video, since I had to have all my favorite lenses on hand to refer to in my list! LOL As for the size, M4/3 should be small and compact (IMO). It's the whole reason I switched in the first place, and I think most people on M4/3 don't want to lug around heavy lenses. Thanks again for watching, and I hope to get something new posted soon! :)

Hey thanks so much for watching and your kind words! I haven't been in too many extreme situations, but even in freezing wind, rain and sleet all my M4/3 gear has never failed me. Most are not even weather sealed. I only once had an Olympus camera stop functioning after getting caught out in some heavy rain, but I put it in a sealed bag with some rice and went to bed. When I woke up it was totally fine, still works perfectly to this day. :)

Hey Gary, thanks for watching! I understand the large hands like larger lenses preference. Gotta be something out there for everyone. :) Sad to hear about your Laowa, that is a tragedy. I think you would enjoy the 75mm, I personally prefer it to the 42.5 for portraits. The longer focal length has more dramatic lens compression, making the shallow DOF appear more visually pleasing. I use the 42.5 when I'm in a crowded space, like a small room where I can't step back to get a good frame, but if I have the room to take a few steps back the 75 is just a gorgeous portrait lens. @@graphiknation Just picked up a em1x I love my panasonic lenses 12-35 35-100 45.2 f1.2 45-200mm which works great on the em1x But no pro capture low so ive decide to get ride of all my fuji canon tamron panasonic to fund a few Olympus lenses 45mm, 75mm, 17mm Keeping my omd 135mm manual focus lens you got to get one That one ill never sell. keeping the laowa 7.5mm

I have not used the 56mm f/1.4 before, but I do have some sigma L-mount lenses for my S5 that I really like, so I am sure that one is great as well. I like the 35-100 too, but I tend to favor my Leica 50-200 f/2.8-4 for my longer zoom shots. I didn't yet have the Leica at the time of making this video, but I seriously considered adding it as a 6th or bonus lens, it just didn't make the final cut. It's so hard to choose only 5 from such a wide range of lenses available, I would try them all if I could. Enjoy the Sigma, and you never know, you might come across a great deal on the 75mm one day and give it a try. If not though, it sounds like you are all set. :)

Hey, thanks so much Rob and yes, I am a fan of the 25mm lens myself ( I prefer the f/1.4 version). I have not heard of the Yongnu but I will definitely check it out. The Oly 12-40 is so similar, but a little larger than the Lumix 12-35. I have found most of the time the OLY zooms tend to be on the larger/bulkier side, and I just really prioritize small/portability in all my M4/3 gear. I sold my OLY 40-150 f/2.8 a while ago because it was just too big and heavy and lug around. I also have a 300mm on another system, so I didn't really need it. I will eventually replace it with the Leica 50-200, which if this was a top 6 list, Leica 50-200 would have made it into the video. LOL Thanks for watching and hope you are doing well. :)

hey Ben thanks for watching and for the great question. It’s a true, I don’t have any of the newer micro 4/3 zoom lenses. I guess there are a couple of reasons for that. I have a perfectly sufficient arsenal of lenses and focal lengths that meet my needs, most of which are either lighter, faster or both. I also really enjoy vintage primes and the super small compactness of CCTV lenses. I guess I like weird things? By design, modern zoom lenses don’t appeal that much to me. As it stands currently, there are 2 categories of choice. There is small and compact which is easy to carry but the aperture sucks or you can choose something with a brighter aperture. The problem for me is they just get bigger, heavier and more expensive, all reasons I left Nikon over 10 years ago for Micro 4/3 in the first place. A good example is the LUMIX 10-25mm f/1.7. Those specs sound amazing but that lens is a boat anchor. I would much rather take my $1500 and pick up 2, 3 or 4 much smaller and lighter primes that cover a wider range that I can carry more easily and are way more enjoyable to use. That may be a dramatic example but I guess I just don’t feel like I am missing anything. One might point out there is not a telephoto lens included in this list, but that is only because it’s limited to 5. I also have the LUMIX/Leica 50-200mm f/2.8-4 for longer reach, but it’s not included in this video, as it’s #6 on my list. Those are my reasons, all personal and subjective of course. What are some of your favorites?

Hey Henrik, thanks so much for watching! All great lenses you mentioned there. And yeah the 42.5 f/1.2 is a pretty special lens. I usually leave it at home casual/street shooting and take it out for portraits and client shoots. I would love to have the 25mm f/1.4 but I have some others that are similar and I just have never gotten around to picking that one up. Same with the 35-100mm, it's always been on my radar but I've never picked one up. Lately I am thinking the Leica 50-200 is going to be the best choice for my next big lens investment. So many good lenses out there, I wish I could have them all. Thanks again for watching and sharing your favorites. :)

@@graphiknation thanks for answering. I forgot to mention that I just sold the Leica 12-60/2.8-4.0 to finance the 35-100/2.8. I could never really adapt to being limited by the 4.0 as it was as soon as I moved the zoom. I also consider the 45/1.8 for my GX80. The used prices are crazy low in Sweden for m4/3 lenses now. The 25/1.4 and the 15/1.7 goes for around 250$. The panny 42.5/1.7 goes for 200$ so it is easy to go wild on just get all the lenses out there. Regarding the 75/1.8, would you prefer it to the Nocticron for portraits and long enough to replace the 35-100/2.8 at low light conditions?

@@wangmedia Yeah, that variable aperture is not ideal. I really like the idea of the 12-60 focal range, so I wouldn't have to change lenses as frequently. I think the 12-35 + 35-100 are great in covering more range, but then I would have 2 zooms in my bag, plus any primes I want to carry. This is my reasoning anyway for the 12-60, having just one zoom + all the primes I am so addicted to. The f/4 sucks a little, but I feel comfortable with it, as I also have the 7-14 which has a constant f/4, and it doesn't bother me on that lens. I generally use a zoom for walking around in daylight or long exposure at smaller apertures at night. I would switch to a prime for low light in any scenario and of course when shallow DOF is desired. Thanks for sharing your experience with that 12-60 though, it is definitely a very valid critique and one I have thought a lot about myself. It's funny you ask about it because I actually prefer the 75mm for my portraits, when I have enough room to step back from the subject. At the longer focal length, it gives a more dramatic, compressed shallow DOF background look than the 42.5. I also don't shoot portraits on the 42.5 fully open due to the problem of not being able to get enough in focus at that extreme wide aperture. I generally stop down on both lenses to about f/2.0 - 2.5 anyway, so an argument could easily be made that the 35-100 would be a more flexible option, at least for portraits. In low light though, the 75mm does make a difference at 1.8 and I can pull off a great looking portrait with this lens at 1.8 with the right distance. The thing I like the most about this lens is how it renders that shallow DOF and perspective compression when fully open at 1.8. I am not sure how close to that effect you could get with the 35-100 at 2.8, but now I will probably fall down a rabbit hole researching it on Flickr. The beautiful compression and bokeh is just wow. If I get it sold I might go for the 75/1.8 as well 🤪. Waiting for the delivery of my 35-100/2.8 so I’ll give it a try on 75-100 before I pull the trigger on the 75.

hey, thanks for watching! Currently my favorite camera is my Lumix G95, although I also recently picked up a used Lumix LX100 II that has been a ton of fun in a super small package. I do also love my Lumix S5 FF camera, but the larger weight is harder for me to get used to, so I most often reach for something smaller and lighter. The G95 is a great compromise for me because it has the larger 20mp sensor and it's one of the few Lumix M4/3 cameras that has live composite, which is a feature I absolutely fell in love with on the S5. What is your favorite camera?

hey thanks for watching! you can use any autofocus lenses that you can mount to your camera, but in general it's best to choose Olympus lenses if you want to get the absolute best performance from your autofocus system. The idea is that the brand is making the lens and body technologies to work in concert together. You can totally use any MFT lenses, and adapt all kinds of other lenses with adapters, but you may experience slower focusing across brands. You will also not be able to use some functions, like manual aperture or lens stabilization (Panasonic has some lenses that have stabilization in the lens, so when paired with a Panasonic camera that also has stabilization, you can get double stabilization). I don't really worry about this stuff too much, but there are a lot of people who complain about it. lol

Hi thanks for watching and what a good question. Of course it depends what kind of photographer (or videographer) you are and what your preferences and needs are, which is very subjective and personal. For me, if I could only have one camera it would still be M4/3. I just really love the smaller system, and being able to carry more gear that's smaller and lighter. I can carry 2 bodies and 5 or 6 lenses in a small bag that doesn't weigh me down, so for this reason alone, I will never give up my M4/3 system! I also really love the 2X crop factor (which I know a lot of others criticize), but I love using a 200mm lens and getting a 400mm equivalent focal length. At present, I am content with my G85, but I would love to upgrade to a 20MP sensor, but in a smaller/more compact body. The G100 is almost ideal, except it lacks stabilization, which is an odd choice for a vlogging camera. I am hoping it will get an upgrade and become the perfect, small powerhouse for the system, similar to the S5 for L-Mount, but I guess we will have to wait and see what happens!

@@graphiknation thanks for your detailed reply. I do see your point. I just wish they had better evfs on the smaller models ( and cheaper) without having to buy the top of the line.

@@krugmeup2162 Yeah, I hear you, and sure, I wish myself the S5 had a better EVF - and it IS a high end camera at $2000 (body only)! I think overall LUMIX is known for putting a lot of value for money in their smaller cameras, so the quality of the EVF for example is probably just not cost efficient at all to do so below a certain price point. I also often think about how much more advanced even the most bare, minimal digital cameras are these days (compared to film cameras) and it gets me back to center. This helps me appreciate more the things I have, rather than dwelling on the things I don't have. Thanks again for watching and engaging. @@CanuckQuest Hey David, I haven't really noticed any problems with flaring on this lens beyond what you would expect when you're shooting directly into bright lights. I have Olympus cameras also, and I use it on both systems. It's a great lens! As Mentioned in the video, I would probably get Laowa today, due to it's brighter aperture and smaller size, but I am having a very hard time letting this one go, it's a really great lens!

@@graphiknation Thanks! I finally grabbed the 7-14 used (same price as new Laowa). I am with you with form factor but in the end I only have the Lumix family cameras so kind of gravitated there. Can't wait for my Oly 45mm 1.8 though! Seems almost too good to be true.

@@CanuckQuest It's a great lens, I think you will be thrilled with it. Also, the variable focal length is nice as well (the Laowa of course is only a fixed focal length). The 45 Oly is absolutely hands down irreplaceable to me. I just adore this lens, I hope you love it too!

Hey Martin, thanks for watching and your question, it's an interesting one indeed! I don't know of a good tele option that is as inexpensive as a CCTV lens. The closest thing I can think of would be the Pentax 110 lenses, which are extremely small and all have a fixed 2.8 aperture. They are quirky and weird, and the longest focal length is 70mm, which will give you 140mm equivalent on M4/3. You should be able to grab on for between about $50-$100. I don't have this particular lens at the moment, but I am watching a few of them on e-bay! I am actually planning to make a video about the Pentax 110 lenses, and I have collected 3 so far (18mm, 24mm & 50mm). I do have a weird old 135mm f/2.8 Leica Elmarit rangefinder with goggles, but it's frustrating to use. The goggles makes it impossible to mount to any camera with a protruding hand grip, so the GH4 is a no-go (I can mount it to a smaller body, like my GM1 or GF8). Hey Martin, I have looked into this a little more, and you might take a look at a vintage Jupiter 135mm f/4 lens. Russian made, they are in the $30-$80+ range, and will give you 270mm equivalent on M4/3. Hope this helps, thanks again for watching!

​@@graphiknation I spent so much time devouring info and deciding between the Jupiter 11 and 37 that I ended up going down a rabbit hole and buying a SOLIGOR 90-230mm F4.5 for Nikon. I've got the Metabones speedbooster - Nikon to M 4/3 - so it should get a bit more light. I really wanted the Jupiter 11 for the vibe and the 37 for sharpness. I tried the buy a J11 but the seller was "temporarily on vacation". I'm awaiting that seller's return. Your suggestion really sent me on a journey.

Hey, thanks so much for watching and sharing that video! I definitely am with you on the Laowa, it's an amazing little gem! The only big reservation I have had on scooping it up is the hefty price, and the fact that it overlaps some of my other lenses. In addition to the 7-14 I have for M4/3, I also have a tiny vintage Voigtlander 15mm f/4 that I use on my S5, which is pretty much like having the Laowa on a full frame camera. You can see that amazing tiny lens featured in my Vintage Lenses video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rdmpmdym0KyngWQ.html I also hear you on the 15, since I too have the 20mm f/1.7 and the 14mm f/2.5. I can't speak for the 17mm since I have never used it, but the 15mm is leaps and bounds above the 20mm for me personally. I have the older version, and it is so freaking slow to auto focus I can hardly stand it. I use it only once in a while, and I should really sell it. I have heard from some others who have it that the newer version of the 20 is only slightly better and still pretty slow to focus, which is a bummer. I also just love the manual aperture ring on the 15, that really makes a difference for me. I agree on sticking with primes, too. If you have to have a zoom lens, it's worth the increase in cost for me to get one with a constant aperture. I have to say, the 12-35mm pretty much lives in my bag, and the flexibility of focal length makes it irreplaceable on my street photography walks. It's the most boring lens on my list, but I use it so often, I just couldn't rationalize leaving it off the list. I have the LUMIX 45mm f/2.8 macro and it is an awesome lens, but I rarely shoot macro myself, so it doesn't get as much use from me over the 45 f/1.8. I like the idea though of the 60mm focal length being in between the 45 and 75, so perhaps if I had that one, I would like it more? @@NeroMC hey, thanks so much for the follow! Golden hour tones are elusive, and not all sunrises/sunsets deliver the perfect tones. I watch the weather patterns and cloud formations and I go out and shoot often. I always shoot in RAW and edit professionally in Adobe Lightroom. The most impressive color tones at golden hour are either gonna be there or they won't. It's a waiting game, and one that I am addicted to playing :)

@@graphiknation First Thank you for your reply. One of the issues with TOP lists is that it is not always clear what are the factors for the ranking . Is it a list which names the best lenses based on their optical results regardless of price and size ? or is it the best lenses factoring price and size AND usefulness of the focal length . One of the things that bothers me is that your top 2 are lenses which have odd , less than generic focal lengths so it would be not good advice for new users . I have the 75mm and it is optically very good but not that useful focal length too long for portraits and too short for most tele applications . Your choice of portrait lens is also not good since you chose to put forward the weakest of the four AF lenses . I happen to have three of those four and , like you , got the 1.8/45mm because ,as you pointed out it was the first one to come out . That being said the Panasonic 1/7/42.5mm is better than the 1.8 Olympus , especially in the corners , offers dual iS for Panasonic body owners and has much better close focusing distance making it a cheap "close up " lens . It is also very similarly priced to the Olympus when you consider that the 1.7 Lumix includes the hood in the box which the Olympus does not I also do not agree with your recommendation for the everyday zoom . In this category I think the Olympus 2.8/12-40mm or 4/12/45mm are better choices than the two Panasonic lenses you named . On the wide angle , your argument to favour the Lumix 7/14mm over the 8-18mm does not make much sense since the size difference between the two is not that big when you consider that you need the hood on the 7-14mm to protect the lens . Also for most users , being able to put a protective filter on a lens which is going to be used outdoors , is a HUGE plus for the PL 8-18mm which btw is only FIFTEEN grams more than the Lumix 7-14mm and does not have the flare issues of the Lumix . In the end , I reckon that making those TOP 5 or Top 10 lists is not easy . I think your approach to choose by category is a good idea but you list is all over the place imo. sorry

@@Harold6643 Hey thanks for your detailed follow up. It's much appreciated to have some real substance in your remarks, rather than just saying this list sucks with no real reasons as to why you think that is. My reason for making this video, which I said in the intro was to examine whether or not I should be upgrading some of my older lenses, since newer, technically "better" lenses have emerged over the years. That is the perspective for which this video was made, incase you missed that in the beginning. I hear and can understand your criticism on the 15 and 75, but I don't find it to be true in my own experience. I tend to like unusual focal lengths, and I will just get closer or further from my subject to get better framing. In the case of the 75mm specifically, I actually use this lens for portraits more often than any other lens that I own. I have quite a collection 40 - 50-ish lenses (new and vintage) which would all be considered by many "better" for portraits on M4/3, yet I still prefer the 75. So as unconventional as it may be, I have adored this lens for many years and I find it to be the most unique and irreplaceable in my bag for M4/3. I also gave a lot of consideration to the Panasonic 42.5 f/1.7, which is as you stated newer, sharper and has faster AF. While all of those things are technically true, I don't necessarily think comparing these specs on paper amounts to very much of a noticeable difference in actual field use (which was my reason for comparing it to the obviously better/sharper/faster Leica Nocticron). In fact none of the things you mentioned has ever caused me even a nano-second of concern in shooting beautiful images with this lens. And since I already own the Oly and the Pana/Leica f/1.2, it just makes no sense for me personally to invest in the newer Panasonic version. Of course I did not go into huge detail on these differences in the video, but I do mention that while there are sharper, newer lenses in this category, this one feels right for me and it has never let me down. My overall point is why fix something that isn't broken? I don't see any reason to go chasing the latest and greatest and constantly keep spending and switching out gear if what you already have is working perfectly fine. As a side note, I also just really like the look and physical size and shape of this particular lens, which makes it stand out, easy to stow in small pockets or grab from the smallest corners of my bag, often times in total darkness. By touch and feel alone, I can always find this lens without any trouble because of it's unique, irregular shape (the silver color also helps to spot it quicker in low light). The Panasonic version, while I have not held it or used it personally, looks to be a similar size and shape as a lot of other small primes, so I could see myself fumbling in the dark to find that lens and not being able to easily discern between that one and some others I often carry around. The wide angle lenses you mention are also all very excellent lenses, close in size and I completely agree about not being able to put a protective filter on the 7-14, that is absolutely a fair point. I think I edited out some talking points for this lens in trying to keep things from rambling on too much, perhaps my editing was a bit too shrewd in this case? I do mention and acknowledge the 8-18 lens as the better choice in the video. I also highlight that after having given it much thought and consideration, it just isn't the best choice for me personally. My choice in wanting to move to the Laowa over the other "better" lenses in this category is purely based on it's small and compact size. In my own evolution as a photographer in recent years, I find myself leaving the 7-14 behind in favor of some smaller primes, then wanting the wide angle option when you come across a shot you really need that focal length for. I rationalize this omission most of the time by thinking I will just shoot multiple images across a scene and stitch them together into a pano in post, but there are those times when you actually just want the wide angle distortion. For me, if I am leaving the 7-14 behind most days because it's too large and lower on my list of must-have focal lengths, anything larger would just never make it into my bag at all (hence the Laowa).
