What are the most painful rollercoasters that you've been on? Coasters can have a rattle that gives you a headache, some horrendous transitions that snap your neck, or just uncomfortable restraints that make you feel like you're in a hydraulic press. However, I think these are the worst of the worst. In this video, I count down my top 5 most painful experiences I've had on coasters around the world, including some you wouldn't really expect... And yes, I know I didn't mention Hero in the video, but I haven't even been to Flamingo Land since it opened, so I didn't want to comment.

The Brighton turbo loop thing is quite fun in the back, I have a great story of that day when a couple of Americans came running up to me on the pier (with 1500 creds) who needed another person for them to send the train, ans begged me to join them so they could get the credit. I got a free ride and it was so fun and janky and we didn't die which was a bonus

Sorry to hear about the breakup man, hope you’re okay. Good video as always, though I’ve not actually ridden Turbo at Brighton, I have done a coaster like it when Southport Pleasureland used to have one and can confirm it probably does deserve to be on this list 😂😂 As for my most painful coaster experiences, notable ones would also include Rita, but also coasters like Saw, Colossus & arguably Smiler. As you mentioned in this video, Grand National can be better on a non-wheel seat, that also applies for Big Dipper, failing that both can be brutal coasters!! Keep on going and doing what you enjoy, I look forward to future uploads mate :)

Thanks! Hahaha well that's good to know! Saw and Colossus is a pretty brutal 1-2 since they're next to each other aren't they... Although they're bad, I've never had a ride so bad it's stopped me wanting to do it again on those though. The old woodies on the other hand... 😂 Thanks, I need to get some sort of a plan together tbh because I'm still just winging it hahaha

Yo so I’ve been watching your vids for a while now and just wanna say how much I love your videos! I feel like your one of the most underrated uk theme park KZfaqrs and when you said that you broke up with your girlfriend that actually made me feel quite sad for you, I hope you feel better soon and find someone who is right for you and everyone here is always here for you :)

colossus scarred me as a kid i swear, i've ridden it only once and i came off with a massive headache, also i think specifically the last inversion on the smiler also gets a pretty high spot, my favourite ride in the world but damn, that thing hurts me like i owe it money

All of the old wooden coasters at Kennywood, including the two from the 1920s are very smooth and fun rides. Blackpool doesn't seem to be maintaining that racing woodie very well if it beats you up as much as you say. I have never been to the UK but its something I can dream of.

That's fair! I think Blackpool go down the route of leaving it alone for ages until it's unbearable and then spending loads in one go to fix it rather than just keeping on top of it

The most painful roller coaster experience I had was recently at my home park Elitch Gardens. I sat on a wheel assembly seat of the twister 3 storm chaser coaster which is already known for being rough. In my opinion twister 3 storm chaser is worse than the SLC at the same park.

Ah I've never actually ridden Hero tbh, and it's been so long since I've been to chessington I can't remember much about rattlesnake other than being surprised at the height limit haha

Oh yeah, any small shuffle on that will be brutal at top speed. The tolerances on the track and train are going to have to be so tight it's ridiculous

After the loop is where Turbo is at it’s worst. The upwards to the turn left is hell.

Yeah I remember watching everyone's heads jolt around particularly badly on that corner. It did not look comfortable...

My most painful is actually Zadra. Crazy I know - but after 8 rides over 2 days, my elbows smashing into the side of the trains whenever you go over that S-bend right before the final inversion was getting really uncomfortable. Also the ridiculously high deceleration on the brake run paired with the generally tight restraints and the ride ops stapling me every time wasn’t very kind to my nuts either 😂

Hahaha I think a lot of coasters might become painful after that many rides! I get what you're saying about the restraints though, the airtime on Hakugei was insane, but I didn't really enjoy most of it because I was just being pinned in

rita is the only coaster ive been on thats on this list. It is definitely painful and i managed to hurt my legs on the restraint right before the break run. Colossus is pretty painful aswell

Ah yeah colossus can be brutal sometimes... it's so annoying when you hurt yourself so late on in the ride isn't it!

For me, it has to be either Revolution at Blackpool or Turbo on brighton pier. Both waaaayyy worse than even the worse SLCs. Never found Infusion or Grand National painfuil though, love both of those.

I think revolution gets away with it for me because its so short haha. There seems to be something with seaside resorts and rough rides doesn't there...

I greyed out till the point I was almost blacked out at the top of one of the inversions on infusion.

Damn I don't remember it being that intense! I don't know about you, but I'm not a massive fan of greying out tbh. I know some people love it but it just makes me feel a bit ill lol

Personally the ride that hurt me the most was American eagle at six flags great America, it was the last year that it had both tracks running trains and that helix was brutal. The structure sounded like it was breaking beneath my feet and with you going 40+ mph at the bottom and hitting potholes the whole way it’s brutal.

Would love to see your reaction to Hades 360 whilst it has some insane forces, airtime, laterals everything you want in a woodie to the extreme, it is brutally rough to the point you feel it in your spine despite this fact its my 4th favourite woodie

All right, so the Vekoma SLC should be treated like any older wooden coaster. It was built in a time before rider comfort was really a thing, So you are expected to ride defensively. That being said, I love the stupid janky layout of the thing, and really don't mind the roughness that much.

I get what you're saying, but it was also built at the same time as rides that are still pretty comfortable, so some dodgy design/ manufacturing was definitely going on... I agree it is a good ride if you can get past the roughness though!

Ive been on Turbo Coaster a few weeks ago, and i can confirm i had a headache afterwards. The looping was good but the rest was awful

Rattlesnake at chessington is brutal also I will never ride furuious baco ever again (WHO'S IDEA WAS IT TO STICK AN 80MPH HYDRAULLIC LAUNCH ON A WING COASTER!)

Wild Maus, I was in physical pain as my hips slammed into the lap bar and side of the train. Colossus, went on it on Hyperia's opening day and came off wanting to go home.

Ahh yeah wild mouse coasters can be absolutely brutal. Weirdly I've never had an awful ride on colossus, I mean sure it's uncomfortable but it's never been too bad for me

@@coaster_shark my head slammed so hard against the restraints, I used to never have painful rides on Colossus but that one put me out of riding the rest of the rides and just stick to Hyperia

I rode infusion last year (one of my most rough coasters) and I came off crying 😂. Not my proudest moment. But I went up north again and I kept my head to the side and it was enjoyable! 🎉 (To a degree)

Hahaha nah I can't say I blame you, sometimes rides can just be too painful to enjoy at all. You do have to brace yourself a fair bit on Infusion, and it will hurt if you don't

The most painful coaster I've ever been on, big dipper at Blackpool, my first ride was alright but the second one was actual torture, literally felt like my insides were rearranged when I came off. Still love pleasure beach though.

Old woodies are tough aren't they, because they kind of have an excuse to be rough, but some of them are just awful. I do think it's great that they still have so many classics still running!

@@coaster_shark explains how big dipper is still running, it had just turned 100 years old when I went on it last year definitely a experience riding on one of oldest coasters in the UK, and like I said my first ride was actually pretty enjoyable I remember the seats helped alot probably the most comfortable seat I've sat in on a coaster aswell.

Ah yeah, that's a difficult one, I'm sure you'll figure it out though. I found going to theme parks solo is OK (especially if they have single rider lines), but it's definitely more fun with a friend

5. Rougarou @ Cedar Point - More painful than #4, but I didn't rank it as high because at least it's actually a thrilling ride with an enjoyable layout. But the headbanging is horrible! I have no doubt it was better as Mantis - standups for me are not as painful as some people claim, I quite enjoyed Green Lantern @ SFGAdv 4. Cedar Creek Mine Ride @ Cedar Point - Not so much painful as just extremely uncomfortable, the trains are ridiculously small, which doesn't help with the Arrow transitions. At least it's extremely slow and boring. 3. Corkscrew @ Cedar Point - those restraints and seats are not designed for a 6 foot tall adult, period. Headbanging plus a weird lump in the seat making it impossible to sit up straight means I will probably never ride it again. 2. Wild Mouse @ Hersheypark - Those laterals just slam you into the side of the car unceremoniously. All wild mice are prone to a bit of discomfort, but for some reason this one was worse than others of the exact same layout. 1. SkyRocket @ Kennywood - Those shin restraints are horrible! Honorable mention (non coaster, but far worse than any of them): Satellite @ Knoebels, a Roll-o-Plane. I was actually injured by the sharp edge of the door latch and it took a couple weeks to heal. Never again.

Infusion is up there as one of the worst Bandit, Trombi, Volare, Condor, Toxic Garden, Screamin Eagle, Pegasus are all rough as heck with very little redeeming qualities.

yeah, even tho its my number 1, i was expecting infusion to appear somewhere, although i will say, the first time i ever rode it was in 2022 i think and i've never had a bad ride since then either so if the last time you rode it was before 2022, it might have been improved upon or something, although i will admit you can see some of the original red paint from traumatizer appearing now so it does need a new paint job done

magnum at cedar point, this isn't because it was rough (its actually quite smooth for an arrow) its because of the horrible restraints. I only rode once and it was in row 3 and the final airtime hills gave such extreme ejector (strongest I've felt on any coaster) that combined with the restraints which were basically a thin metal bar caused more pain than any slc or volair I have ridden. This is the only time on a coaster where I haven't enjoyed ejector airtime

It's ridiculous how much airtime you can get on some of these classic coasters isn't it! That doesn't sound comfortable though, your thighs must have gotten quite the bruising...

For me the uncomfiest I’ve ever done would probably have to be Rita as on that turn even tho I kept my head back I still bashed my chin on the restraint on the first turn which also made me accidentally bite my lip and I did it hard to where my mouth was bleeding after cuz when we went in the brakes my cousin said “your mouth is bleeding” I was like what and it was and I’d still ride it again cuz I’m that stupid 😂😂

i will say that my first ever looping coaster was a pinfari looper at southport which wasn't too bad but it also wasnt great

my most painful however is probably grand national from my first ride on it, it was awful, however, my second ride was actually fine and fun so im not entirely sure if the painful ride was a fluke or not, more likely the latter

Turbo isnt actually that painful, its abit rough yeah and its easily one of the worst coasters ive ridden but not that painful. My 5 would be. 5. Collosus (everytime you take a seat that isnt front row your rolling the dice with fate) 4. Saw (love the ride but damn ive had a particularly rough front row ride on this) 3. Rattlesnake (damn that emergency stop brake though) 2. Samarai (hit in the balls by the seat bouncing up when getting off the ride 😂 ) 1. Oddysee (rode it on a particularly rough running day, one kid even came off crying holding his kneck and mostly everyone complained about the ride, after the first drop the headbanging was so intense i barely could concentrate on the elements of the ride)

I thought it was weird that mine were mosrly UK based as well, I couldn't remember a single awfully rough coaster from the US, but maybe that's just because I've only been to the big parks that can afford to properly maintain them...

got a hairline fracture in my neck from rita. only ride at alton towers that made me feel ill the entire time

@@coaster_shark i think my hood rolled up in a weird way and pushed my neck forward too much. when it launched it probably compressed and moved my neck in a weird way. even though my neck hurt after that i still went on rides after it and only went to the doctors 2 weeks later to find i had a hairline fracture in my neck

@@coaster_shark hyperia was great but I didn't enjoy it only having a lap bar. Lap bar locked just a little above my legs so on the negative g parts I was literally flying out of my seat lol. Not a fan of negative g at all tbh and I was shitting bricks when I went over the top. It's always the first drop on rides that make me feel like that tho lol. I've got 2 nice big bruises from colossus. Overall I'd say nemesis inferno was my favourite as it didn't hurt and it was just sick as hell. Took 2 hours to get on stealth because it broke down while I was 20 mins off getting on. I swear I saw more empty carts going round than full ones

It's been a while since I've been on it, but I remember enjoying it. I think the custom SLCs seem to ride a bit better than the standard layouts, especially if its a coaster that's been relocated a few times!
