This week I'm sharing my five favourite sewing machine feet. These little beauties make my life easier, speed up my sewing and allow me to consistently achieve better results with certain sewing techniques.
► Sewing machine accessories www.sewessential.co.uk/sewing...
► Full guide www.sewessential.co.uk/blog/sewing-machine-presser-feet-guide/
► Sew Essential www.sewessential.co.uk
I'll talk you through each sewing machine foot, how it works, what I use it for and will show you a quick clip of each of them in action. Every sewing machine comes with certain feet as standard - how many depends on the make and model of your machine. Most sewing tasks can be completed with the standard feet, but using feet specifically designed for certain tasks can make the world of difference to your sewing. We stock a huge range of sewing machine feet and accessories for Janome, Brother, Husqvarna Viking, Pfaff and Elna sewing machines and include compatibility charts to help you find the right ones for your machine. It is crucial you check compatibility with your machine before buying any new feet. Now let me show you my favourites.

Thank you for this presentation. Unfortunately for me, when using the seam guide with the incremental markings I find it difficult to maintain alignment with the guidemarks during a lengthy seaming. I therefore prefer the seam guide with adjustable hinge so that there is a containment against which the fabric can be butted or one that is magnetic and elevated so that it can be set at the different markings on the presser foot plate and the fabric can ride up against it. Thanx for sharing your knowledge ☺️🌷 U mentioned a Compatibility chart for presser feet on this video but I cannot locate it. I have an ELNA Diva (type 900) which I’m told is comparable to the ELNA 9000 computerized machine. I have been advised to try the janome mechanical HD 1000 presser feet for my ELNA diva. Please advise. 👌

I love the idea of the seam guide foot I struggle. Are they supplied for Janome 9 MM and also what happens on Jersey lightning stitch? In my machine that moves the needle position.
@SewEssential
@SewEssential 5 жыл бұрын
This is the closest thing I can find to a seam guide foot for the Janomes, it is designed more for top and edge stitching, but would effectively do the same job. The hole is wide enough to do some zig zag stitches, but it would be limited as to how wide. Also I can't find your machine on the compatibility chart, perhaps it is an old model in which case you would need to check which category it is - this foot is for category B/C. If you want to order anything and are struggling to confirm the category you can email us at sales@sewessential.co.uk and we will be happy to help and speak to Janome if necessary.

The sewing machine,my parents bought me 47 years ago had a button sewing foot.I used it for coats through to crepe de chine with no problems .i ve now bought one for my new machine and,as you said,they make work so much easier.Also if you sew a button in the wrong place there's no effort in removing it and sewing it again..My next purchase will be the walking foot,It's £50 for my machine ,so I'm counting my pennies.I loved this vlog.Would you beable to show how you use a buttonhole foot ,also how you use it if the button is too big or small to go in the button compartment.thanks

The quarter inch foot has a single needle hole and not the zigzag opening which is wide. There is more control. Before sewing machines had zigzag foots, all mechanical sewing machines were single needle hole and sewing was in some ways easier.

I have a question, when you sewed the button and then took it away from the machine, all of a sudden the attached thread disappeared. I understand that the machine cuts the thread automatically but It disappeared from the top of the button leaving no trace like a magic trick. How does It work?

I’m curious. At one time I thought you mentioned using a Pfaff. Is the seam guide foot option available for Pfaff and do you use an actual walking foot on a Pfaff?
@SewEssential
@SewEssential 5 жыл бұрын
The Pfaff machines usually come with a built in walking foot known as their IDT system so no need to use a walking foot on the machines which have this feature. Here is a metal seam guide foot for Pfaff machines, although always remember to check the compatibility chart for your specific model because it might not fit all of them.
