In this video, I share my 2-month travel experience living solo as a Black digital nomad in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia. Brazil has lots to offer with its amazing beaches, friendly people, and vibrant culture, but during my time there, I quickly learned that it wasn't a place where I could see myself living long-term. Despite my rocky experience in the country, I'd still recommend anyone to visit. It's just too gorgeous not to!
This video is my personal experience and shouldn't ever stop you from experiencing a destination for yourself. Thanks for watching!

Ari thanks for your statement and feel more than welcome to give a chance to Brazil again: A WARNING to everyone: Rio is a nice city to spend a week MAX. Living there is by far the worst option in Brazil where there are MUCH more developed cities with stunning lower (almost 0) crime rates. Cities like Florianópolis and São Paulo are made for living and offer a great quality of living. Rio is just for tourism.

Thank you for watching and acknowledging my experience. I hope I'll be able to give Brazil another chance too because I genuinely love how warm and friendly the people are. Even Brazilians I've met in other places around the world have been some of my favorite people 😊 My next visit will definitely be to Florianópolis or São Paulo!

Ariiiii! Thank you so much for sharing!! Your experience in Brazil as a solo female traveler is super validating to me as I had a similarly challenging time living in Brazil for the 2 months I was there. I was based in Rio the entire time, but struggled just like you to do any basic task. The CPF thing drove me crazy, and when I tried to get the yellow fever vaccine certificate, it required a CPF, which I didn't have, so I almost missed my flight to Colombia as well. Being in Medellin after Brazil was like being able to breathe again. Love your videos girl and maybe we will cross travel paths someday! Keep it up!
@Ariventuras

I’m honestly glad to hear that it wasn’t just me! Lol I’m also really glad you were still able to make your flight!! I argued with the flight attendant about that for hours and it’s honestly ridiculous that they would demand something like knowing how difficult it is for foreigners to do anything - let alone get a vaccination! Finally able to breathe again is EXACTLY how I would describe being in Medellin after Brazil. 😌😅 I hope our travel paths cross someday too! Thanks so much for watching!

The ribbon story is so real. I met a girl in Mexico who was kind of ALOT and She tied a bracket on me while saying affirmations. I immediately went home and cut it in a panic. But honestly our body and experiences will change you out of a situation that could of ended up way worse. I’m glad you know yourself and got to leave and be at peace.

Wow! Thank you for sharing this. As a person who also travels and works remotely, I felt your pain. Those were definitely NOT mediocre problems. It's funny that you "escaped" to Medellin when I had a similar experience when I visited Medellin. So much so that I cut my trip short and left early.

I think you should have a synastry chart ran between your birth chart and Brazil. Or have an astrocautographer run your chart and look specifically at you and Brazil.
@Ariventuras

Interesting. Do you think a chart will tell me something differently from my experience?
@Thereturntoself
@Thereturntoself Жыл бұрын
@@Ariventuras no- actually, I believe it’s going to confirm the disconnect between you and the place. It’s going to likely show your Pluto line going through where you traveled. I am also a world traveler and it confirmed weird things that occurred with me, in a place I went. I started using an astrocautography chart for my future travels. You can go anywhere but it helps in knowing where it’s beneficially to stay longer and where you could run into trouble, so you can prepare for that. If none of this helps, please just disregard.

I'd agree that you should look into the astro chart for future trips as a digital nomad. My birthday is in April and it says that Brazil would look similar to some of the things you mentioned so I've avoided going there. Sorry you were under attack spiritually but for reference, the Orisha symbols shouldn't have evoked anything since the Brazilian's ancestors just synchronized their ancestral practices with Catholicism. From the sounds of it, you are either Christian or from the American Christian tradition so that could've played a role in your experience with facing African spiritual symbols and practices as well but yea it seems like things were off from the start so it wasn't a place for you. Thank you for putting the video together it really helped confirm things for me as well when he comes to Brazil. I hope you're now someplace safe and thriving!

I am not doubting your story as everyone has different experiences, but this is WILD!!! 😳The plane situation was just the final straw. It's unfortunate that you had such a difficult time. I have had some unpleasantness, but not on this level. To be here for a few years, I can maneuver around a bit easier. I hope that if you do decide to give the country another opportunity that you indeed have a much better experience.

Yes, please book as early as you can! Brazil also recently announced that they are requiring visas for US citizens starting next year so be sure to look into that, have a physical copy of your YF vax with you and get a Brazilian ID if you plan to visit for longer than a week. I hope your visit is a much better experience than mine 🙏🏾 Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm brazilian and I was looking for a black digital nomad experience and coincidentally you came to my city Salvador haha. I'm sorry for the bad experiences. I hope you give it another try in the future. About the CPF, it is not validated on the goverment system. It's only validated by a math formula. So you can generate a random one on the Internet and use it, the goverment systems are terrible so I feel your pain in trying to use it. Also, Brazil is a huge and mixed country and except by some specific districts, everyone will assume you're brazilian, so they will assume you know the rules of the country.

Thanks for watching! I hope one day I can give it another try too. Especially Salvador - struggles aside, I did like it there. That’s also good information to know about the CPF! That would’ve made my life a lot easier if I had known. Having a Brazilian friend or two is a must for navigating the country.

You're lucky with the Yellow Fever Vaccine. They would not let us check our bags unless we had yellow fever documentation. My brother and i had to buy tickets to Lima in order to leave Sao Paulo. Then we booked another flight out of Lima just to get to Cartagna. I was pissed!!!!
@Ariventuras
@Ariventuras Жыл бұрын
That's wild and I hate that that happened to you all! Honestly, the man that was arguing with me was just being unreasonable, because I offered to buy a ticket back to US if they weren't going to let me board my flight to Colombia and he refused that. He tried really hard to not let me leave the country at all...but GOD! Lol I also made sure I got my YF vaccine after that. I don't want those problems ever again.

I wrote a big comment here, but it's gone. :(((( I don't know what happened!! I hope you got that on your email somehow. Anyway, KZfaq recommended you to me and I liked your tone voice which is why I watched your video and completely related to it, since I was married to an American for many years and it was much easy for me to adapt to the US than it was for him to adapt to Brazil. Anyway, I apologize for your experience, but I understand why you went through what you went through... All the best, Carolina

hi again, i'm loving ur solo vlogs, i'm still too afraid to book my solo adventure, so i'm looking for inspiration, your instinct to question organised religion is spot on most organised religions are new [less than 2000 years old, whereas homo sapiens are 200,000 years old] and are taxdodging boysclubs that teach kids to hate "others" and girls n gays [xenophobia, homophobia, gynophobia is spread by the church, popes, for example, are all billionaires, the corruption is insane]

@@Ariventuras While Lapa is indeed known as a popular tourist destination with its vibrant nightlife and cultural attractions, it's also true that some areas may face cleanliness and homelessness challenges. Like many urban areas, it has diverse aspects. It's essential to acknowledge tho that Lapa is full of drug addicts roaming around, a problem that people should be aware of before visiting it. It didn’t surprise me that the place you rented didn’t have good beds and wasn’t clean due to being in Lapa.

@Ariventuras didn't assume anything...I watched your video twice before I commented. You said it yourself about the underplanning. How are you a digital nomad thar doesn't have a solution for wifi? You have the nerve to say it's the internet cafe's fault. Why don't you have at least 2or 3 cell phones to use as a wireless Hotspot, I am not a digital nomad and dealt with no power or wifi for 36 hours in Colombia and worked perfectly fine. Why are you staying in a hostel where you have to rely on the quiet of other people to make your work surroundings good or bad. That isn't smart at all. How do you not know about the CPF situation...AS A DIGITAL NOMAD. I am not one but wanted to watch a football match in Rio so I dealt with that before staying for my own leisure for 2 weeks. You wanted to conduct actual work or business and didn't. The nerve of you to say the sunlight and a man selling you a wristband added to the bad vibes or experience of your trip...seriously. You are a complainer. I assumed nothing.

I have to say that I was really enjoying this video until I got to the spirituality part and the spiritual experience you had in Salvador de Bahia. For you to create a scenario of demonization because number 1. You started to question God, Christianity, the history of Christianity and how violent it was as a black person for you to be introduced to it RIGHTFULLY SO is strange. The strange man put the bracelet on you could’ve placed a charm or some sort of bracelet that was extremely charged with some sort of spirituality that feels foreign to you yet still whether he had good intentions or bad intentions that has nothing to do with the indigenous spirituality that Afro Brazilian enslaved people brought with them to Bahia. The fact that you combined demonization, and you questioning God, as you being under spiritual attack is soooo strange because what kind of God do you have that you cannot question and face the TRUE fact that without centuries + of colonization, blood, death, slavery, and pillaging you would never know this God. Meanwhile, the people who preserved their own deities, you are finding a way to put them down to uplift and edify your own God…sad.
