Oh sweetie don't give up. I struggled for 3 years with retaining length, but when I finally got the hang of it, siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssss,😆😆. It started with me loving my hair and myself. Honestly , I'd do my natural hair journey all over again, cos I had to learn to love myself no matter how I look and shove people's opinions out of my mind. It's been awesome 😁

I'm just watching this for the FIRST TIME EVER! And I am literally about to cry because the struggle with type 4 hair is REAL and I have been at the same length as when I started my natural hair journey about 2 years ago. I feel as though a lot of natural-haired KZfaqrs sugarcoat the process in which one has to go through to get that desired length, but but you gave the the full journey not leaving out nothing. I am SUPER HAPPY I came across this video when I did. :)

I also used protein treatments waaaaayyyy too much.. At first it worked and then my hair freaked out and I kid you not, it looked as if my curls fainted. How can hair faint? I can't explain it my friend. But hair freaked out. It acted as if I had processed it and it started breaking off and my curls were still passed out but I guess you live and you learn with natural hair. I am now midback length THANK YOOOUUUU JESUS *busts out tambourine and starts praise dancing*

sensimania Yes...But it wasn't anything horrific! I had those ends cut away in order to redevelop my curl pattern. My hair wasn't growing as fast as it should😥 So Hopefully, these next few months of no heat use, will allow it to grow longer

I have seen a few of your videos just by seeing it on the recommended list after or while I watched other videos but watching this video got me to subscribe to you because this video is one of the honest natural hair videos I have watched being a 4b/4c the struggle is defiantly real..i have restarted this journey and cut my hair multiple times learned that just because the natural hair community raves about something does not mean it will work for my hair...i have learned so much about myself and my hair and even though I'm still learning my hair is the longest and the healthiest it has ever been. even though I have had to put a few people in their place because even though my hair is to my breast it looks like it is just a little past my ear (the shrinkage is real) thanks for being honest and real about your natural hair journey and showing us type 4 hair girls that we are not alone

I love this!! I had really long thick hair, and over the course of college it got damages and started falling out. I get so frustrated looking back at what my hair used to be, but this gave me hope that I can still start over and grow my hair out

At it again with the inspo sis, OG sub here, back when you were doing guy talk(miss those by the way) but I'm in the middle of my NHJ and watching it slowly grow and be healthy and like you say "healthy hair is the goal length is a bonus", you don't say those exact words but yeah. As a natural for 2 years the journey was hard and still is. I dont fully understand or know how to handle my hair but it's getting easier. I have realized that sew in weaves and wigs grow my hair. while with braids I seem to lose more hair then I grow. So I stop braids all together and damn your girl hair is growing healthy and long. I did trim my hair this weekend and as soon as I take off my wig or weave I do hot oil treatments and give my hair time to air and just be free. My weaves and wigs stay in for about 1 or 2 months and between that time my hands are out my head and my hair gets it down time . I found this works for me but the shrinkage is a killer I'm still working on handling the shrinkage and my hairline but its growing back with the natural oils slowly

Omg you don’t know how encouraging watch you is and how much you’ve helped me on my natural journey. My hair is finally growing and your tips helped me to find products to actually moisturize my hair and not just make it greasy.....
