Your comments have gotten me thinking about the difference between isolating oneself purposefully to reduce noise and distractions (rarely productive for me) versus entering into a surrendered stillness, in the midst of right where you happen find yourself, and suddenly listening and hearing something fresh. In that place we may come synthesize unconsciously … leading to discovery. Writing haiku is like that for me. I cannot force haiku. Rather it flows from an unexpected moment of stillness - where I’m suddenly noticing what was previously unnoticeable. It’s very cool, how God made us.
