You must do this in order to have it written down by police. Make the call the insurance. Have your list of items & replacement cost. I am upset to see this! 😡

The business where you left your van parked must take some or all of the responsibility for your loss. You parked on their property and what happened?! they said "sorry"? Tint your windows and cover up your belongings. Reduce your chances for becoming a target.

I feel you. That happened to me in Seatle in 2017. During a work contract, I was helping a friend to move, and it only took like 10 minutes of lowering my guard in day light.I came back to the passenger window broken and my backpack with my mac, a tablet and a phone gone. I always keep my staff in the trunk or as hidden as possible, but that day I was too frantic helping that I forgot to do it. That was the day. I felt so mad and also vulnerable and helpless. It will pass, but it will be a learning lesson to at least always protect yourself and your property better. Now days, I have better deterrents, and I never leave valuables out of sight or in the open. I think my car was the right target with the license plates from Texas.

First time viewer. I’ve been broken into and it’s enraging. I don’t want other peoples stuff. I just want to keep my own. What I’ve found is that while I won’t recoup what I lost, the items I needed will show up in my life at a later time. Letting go of the rage has been the hardest part for me.

I’m also sorry they broke the front window, on an old van it might be hard to replace. The window could probably be sealed with duct tape for the time being. I read that some people steal insurance or registration because it has the VIN and they can either sell that or use it to register illegal cars/make false medical claims. Please beware. I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's such a violating feeling.

I would never leave my iPad or any of my devices at home if I was going away and I live in a very secure condo. I wouldn’t even leave a device in my car while I went into a restaurant. I have a briefcase type that holds my electronics and that goes where I go. Don’t trust anyone!

The thief has your home address from having gotten your insurance card. Be wary of identity theft, check your credit report, etc.

Check to see if they took any paperwork.....registration, anything. They can use for identity theft.

If they told you to leave it they must exercise 'ordinary care' which means care as anyone who owns the vehicle. They should have had it in a area with fencing and or cameras.

Sorry your Van was broken in to,that's my biggest fear.I stayed in Quartsite for 3 months in the winter I always leave for the cold months,I have a hse in the country in Missouri. I feel so sorry for you. I never left my truck alone just to shop for supplies and run back. But, I always tell myself when something bad happens that perhaps down the line there is a reason for it, some we may never know but nonetheless. Regarding your personal valuables I'm wondering if you should check the local "hock" shop? Maybe they traded them for money? Sorry for your troubles. Sorry for your breakin. I Don’t blame you for your thoughts of some old time western Justice. I was told never to leave my registration or pink card in a vehicle. Thieves break in get your address and garage opener (if you have one) then have easy access to your home. I always have my reg and insurance in my wallet. They like to do this where they know vehicles are parked for a while. Like at football games or theatres etc…. No apologies needed for the language.

Mulitple vehicles are getting broke into all the time in many areas. It so sickening.

Wow. That’s too bad that happened. I have an rv parked in a locked rv storage facility. Someone cut the fence, stole catalytic converters and broke in to a couple rv’s. Fortunately, they stayed clear of mine. But, they cut fence directly behind mine. Not a good call to get.

Small time thieves or drug users are usually only looking for what they can easily turn at a Pawnshop,such as,your pink backpack and Ipad…You should visit the local or closest pawnshop and ask a few questions, look around first… Salvage yard for your window extension… It’s not the end of the world and could have been a lot worse… Take care and be safe…

It's a shame what people do to others. The business where you left your van should at the very least have cameras installed. When I take my car into a business to have something fixed or installed I'm not expecting my car to be broken into(I don't think anyone does) I they should be responsible for at least some of the damage or give you a pretty big discount for whatever you were having done to your van there.

Many years ago, my van was in a body shop after an accident. It was packed outside one night and many things were stolen. Stereo, equalizer, speakers, and a digital clock with control switches built in. I definitely suspected an inside job, but oh well. I couldn't take revenge, and I think that riled me the most. May I suggest a voodoo doll ? It's the only way to get back at whoever did this. It might be therapeutic, or just make you laugh a little. Take care.
