Wow, how crazy. I have a Japanese history course, and I had to do a mapping project for 3 assigned cities, and see how landmarks of cities were affected by World War II. One of the cities I was assigned was Shizuoka, and I actually used Sunpu Castle as my landmark.

I'll edit this as I go through the video 1. When you zoomed into what looks like the entry desk or somehing, the "ció" ending indicated Catalan language to me. I understand that you won't know everything, but you had the hindsight of noticing Basque in another map while editing, so yeah 2. I understand it's blurry, but on the sign, I could make out "Tombouctou" - French for Timbuktu 3. I KNEW it was subcontinent, I just couldn't pinpoint it

Original North American area codes and 902 I knew that the 902 area code was PEI or Nova Scotia because I fell into a Wikipedia hole about the North American Numbering Plan for area codes started back in 1947. You may already know that area codes with 0 in the middle were single-state area codes (e.g., DC is 202), while those with a 1 in the middle were states with multiple codes. Hence, Chicago was 312 and Illinois also had 815, 217, and 618. Because for rotary phones, having the smaller digits were optimal, those tended to be given to places with a lot of phones...hence, NYC 212, Los Angeles 213, New Jersey 201. There are exceptions as the single-state ones were assigned more regionally than by population or number of phones. Also, the decision on what states received multiple area codes included Iowa, which made little sense. Because there were only so many single-state area codes, the initial mapping only went up to where the first and last digit added up to 11 (e.g., 902, 803, 704, 605). 902 was an exception to this as it was assigned to both PEI and Nova Scotia, despite getting a single-state style area code. It was also assigned to New Brunswick and, after it joined Canada two years later in 1947, Newfoundland. In 1955, New Brunswick and Newfoundland were broken off and given the next available single-state area code, 506. So, if you're the kind of nerd who would invest a half-hour reading about the rollout of the North American Numbering Plan, you would have known 902 was Nova Scotia or PEI.
