i just got back yesterday, actually 3 this morning, from paris. went to the grave wednesday the 26th of july 2023. it was hard to find. bumped into a family from new jersey who kindly let me join them as we searched. i got to throw a rose to the edge of his grave. it was surrounded by a fence. it was a beautiful sunny day and other people were there on a tour of the cemetary. we were told that jim's grave is the most visited.

Do you know what frustrates me, the fact that there are so many people in the past that destroyed Jim’s grave and they’ve now had to resort to putting a fence around it. And to those people who originally stole the bust that was on his tombstone that is just disgraceful😢

@@jadeblues357 i totally agree with you. it did put somewhat of a damper on the experience, but i have a picture of his statue in my phone and a good throwing arm. :)

I went in 1998…you could just walk right up to grave..take pics leave flowers etc..too bad a few bad apples ruined it for everyone…although I have been to Paris many time since that was the only time I went…it’s a grave stone and dirt..I’d rather listen to the music..that’s where the life is.

Visited in the Spring of 92'. We snuck in at night, no bother finding it....followed the graffiti showing the directions. We had a bottle of JD which almost broke climbing the high wall. Spooky at night. Security guards caught us after a while and flung us out.

I went to his grave in 1997 to leave a note and a cork from a bottle of wine and so many people were looking for it. It was covered in candles, notes, etc. It was on July 3, the date of his death.

I heard his epitaph translates to “TRUE TO HIS OWN SPIRIT” but Google translate has, “AGAINST THE DEMON WITHIN THYSELF”. For such a strait laced father that Morrison had, that is a great fiting epitaph.

That is nice, been there in 1991, smoked it, but there were rumours of his remains doug up and shipped to america. Thank you, and don't forget, Elle by Paul Verhoeven ends there, and eh, the doors really are infinite and immortal but there ar no doors among the emoticons

I was there in the summer of 1991 for the 20th anniversary of his death. There were guards, but you could still access his grave. There were no fences then. Sad.

At the 20th anniversary, there also where things happened, what was one of the reason they put fences around his grave.. But these days, the security only come at the anniversary days

Sad that a fence blocks everyone from getting close to his grave. Not just the fence, but the security guard giving you the eye as he walks behind the tombstones.

Back in the 2000s the 30 year lease on Jim's plot ran out not to burst anyone's bubble but he's not in there. The French government payed for a life time lease AKA forever. but moved him so he can rest in peace under one of his alias,s. That's just for fan's and tourism The lease running out is public record.
@rolandlastname55329 ай бұрын
Life time is not the jargon for a grave in case you are dead :-) Many graves at Pere Lachaise have inscripted: license perpetuelle, that is what you mean. The 30 year lease should have expired a few days after 3 july 2001. But are you sure his remains are moved? That would not make sense to me. Any clue as moved to where? By the way, the tomb of Oscar Wilde nearby has more protection: a 2 m tall solid glass wall all around, provided by the City of Paris
@mben-david20648 ай бұрын
The lease was re-designated in 2001, 30 years after he passed. He is now the permanent and sole owner/ resident of that plot. You're what the French call " Le Imbecile".

It isn't that straight forward brugh.. Hey but when I was there, O, must been 2000, they had sme flood or work issue, so you couldn't access the way one nbormaallly would. I will say this though,. WOW the French have a take on a cemetery like no other, not the greeks, the romans, the Dutch, Russian or Asian.. it is a galmourous death being dead for thos interred. :)
