@mannys91302 жыл бұрын
Makes sense. Long vocal cords, relaxed and voluminous larynx and pharynx, and a proper control of all the muscles involved are what's needed to have a smooth and deep male voice. Having tonsils removed traumatizes the area exceptionally well. You get inflammation which causes edema and spasm. Edema decreases larynx and pharynx volume, tightens the tissues, effectively shortens the vocal cords, causes muscle spasm due to pain which tightens things even more upon speaking, and causes a lot of mucous and blood build up which adds mass to the vocal cords and limits their ability to vibrate strongly. That's why you have a weak, raspy voice of a 12 year old on day 1. 😸 I'm sure you'll be totally back to normal in a month. Won't even know the surgery happened. The tonsils don't play a role in voice pitch, it's all local inflammation at work here right now so when that's gone it'll be fine.

As Somone who had a tonsillectomy, it’s not the tonsils that change your voice, it’s just that you try and move your throat less. And it’s just really dry on account of the massive scabs that ate forming in the gap where your tonsils were. But the worst was the breath, my parents avoided me for a week until I could use mouthwash and get rid of the blood/scab breath. It was pretty painful but it was still ok.
