"It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" recorded by Kitty Wells. It was an answer song to the Hank Thompson hit "The Wild Side of Life." So you need to go check out his song then you will understand this song better. Love you guys!!!

Kitty Wells was truly the first big female country artist and opened the door for Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Dolly and others. The Carter family were big but Kitty was the first solo female to really make an impact in the genre.

She not only "went there", but was the first female country artist to "go there". This song was not only banned from most radio stations at that time, but also from the Grand Ole Opry. Women were not supposed to be sitting in a bar somewhere. They were to be the long suffering wife, waiting for her man to come home. BTW: Kitty was happily married to Johnny Wright and would not travel without him. She, herself made the statement that you do not have to live a country song to sing a country song. She was living proof that if you are good enough, you can bring a song right to the hearts of millions.

Kitty Wells was a huge influence on Loretta Lynn. When Loretta started singing, she was told that Nashville "already has a Kitty Wells" and she had to develop her own sound. Kitty Wells has been considered the original Queen of Country Music.

Love this song, one of my favorites! Kitty Wells, Patsy and Loretta were all of my mother's generation and I tell you I have never seen a braver and stronger group of women. They were the first ones to break through the barrier and sing about real issues that effected women. Every freedom we enjoy today is because of their courage to speak the truth in a world that want to keep women objectified. It hurts me to see some of the things people are doing in music today that down grade and disrespects women. If they only knew what my mama's generation had to live through they would never let men disrespect them so, and make them seem that they are only body parts to be exploited. Love your channel guys please keep up the good work! I had a serious injury over the weekend and will be laid up for several weeks. I look so forward to seeing what you two will be up to and I find fun and peace in your positivity and your deep reactions. It distracts me from the terrible pain. Keep hanging in there and I will too ! :)

Sending prayers for a full and speedy recovery, Ma'am. I agree. It sickens me to hear how people sing about women nowadays. My Grandma and Mom were strong women who wouldn't tolerate being treated like that. My Stepdaddy raised my Brothers and me to respect women, as the most beautiful creatures God has ever created (true inward beauty, not just pretty to look at). He taught us especially to respect Mom saying, "That woman risked her life to bring you into this life! If you don't respect anyone else, you'd better respect her!". When she died, those words came to me once more. Everyone except my older Brother and I left the hospital. We stayed with her until the person from the funeral home got there at 2 a.m. Then, we assisted in getting her transferred onto his gurney and I asked to be the one to cover her. My Brother and I wheeled her out and put her in the hearse, and I closed the door. I've been with my girlfriend 15 years and have made sure to instill that respect in her children. Her two sons respect women, and her daughter commands respect from any man she dates.

This is a answer song to the hit that Hank Thompson had Wild side of life. You should definitely react to it. I don't think this happened to Kitty. Kitty and her husband had the longest celebrity marriage ever. Kitty didn't have to strain to sing. When she opened her mouth it just poured out of her. Any female country singer will tell you that she influenced they're career.

This song was actually considered very risqué for the time. Kitty Wells was the first solo female country artist to have a number one hit and the first to sell over a million records. Before her, Nashville was essentially a sausage fest and the only way a woman could get to sing was if she were part of a band or group. Every female country artist that’s come owe their careers to Kitty.

Hello Guy's, this song is "Mother Mabelle & The Carter Sisters - Keep on the Sunny Side" they recorded this around the 1950's. It's something to think about the fact that these young artists starting out there wasn't any professional training around. They grew up with family members playing instruments and singing in gospel groups and singing on there porches playing together. Mother Maybelle Carter came from Country Royalty. The Carter Family was well known in the 1920's and the kids grew up singing and playing as a famous singing family. "Johnny Cash & The Carter Family - Where You There When They Crucified My Lord 1962" and Johnny Cash married June Carter, who was the daughter of Mother Maybelle Carter. This is a live Performance "Johnny Cash &June Carter Jackson" This is around two, two and half generations of music, right here... that will really blow your mind, if you think about it. 🤔😂🎶

Shawn was right. Kitty Wells was angry about the song; “The Wild Side of Life!” Hank Thompson and others tried to confront her about her marriage and husband suggesting that her husband cheated on her and she laid them flat with her answer that he wasn’t that kind. She was blunt and direct. She didn’t take all that good boys club bologny. Back then women had much less say so in society and they were blamed for many things that were men’s faults. Kitty stood up for women and the truth. So she rubbed these guys raw. They tried boycotting her and other sneaky tactics. She won out though.
