Remarkable has stepped up its game. Say what you want, but for use cases like mine as a writer who enjoys bouncing from handwriting to text not to mention being unable to stare at laptops for long periods.. this is perfect. Handwriting to text has always been seamless for me (sorry to those who have issues with it) no other device has ever come close. I've stopped using Supernote and Boox but always stick with Remarkable and my Freewrites. With this keyboard it completely changes the game for the better with simple clean productivity. For those seeking a workhorse for images and such stick with Ipad.

Remarkable has another shipping delay on its hands. Some people who ordered the Type Folio are getting it as early as next week, while a number of users who ordered at roughly the same time received an email today warning of a supply shortage that will cause delays. The email was vague on how long of a delay it would be, however when you add the folio to your cart on the Remarkable website, it now estimates 32-47 business days for express shipping and 39-54 for standard until delivery.

I love typing on my remarkable 2 with my HHKB. Incredibly responsive screen and great interface for typing. I will most likely keep my bluetooth dock keyboard for typing on remarkable 2 at my desk, but I will definitely use this for typing away from my desk. (And half the screen won’t be taken up by onscreen keyboard.) I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.

They added function that stick handwritten notes to text and there are moving with it. That really amazed me. You circle the word and it stay circled (underlined or whatever). When you type before it, the word will move with the circle. When you write between the paragraphs and type something above, notes will move and stay between paragraphs. Same goes for notes in margins. Indeed impressive staff. If there would be some proper text formating with images or even a capability to do a full presentation with slides, pictures and charts, I would love it. Maybe they add a function to directly annotate text in PDF and that would be a game changer. In that mythic time I would be really considering of buying it but now I don't need it. I'm more of a handwriter. Only problem I have is that I'm Czech and we have special diacritical marks and reMarkable is not supporting all of them. In handwriting conversion yes but not all with keyboard and I think it goes same for Type Folio. Also I don't know if they are planning a new model, so I'll wait before throwing a bag of money to Norway.

Was tempted first but asked myself the question if this would make my Remarkable a better replacement for my paper notebook. It does not. Especially the static, fixed location of text is the reason I haven't used the Text option for now. A nice keyboard will not change that.

Splendid review as ever from My Deep Guide. For me, this keyboard would be perfect if it worked in Portrait mode (most PDFs for sale e.g. yearly journals/diaries) are in portrait mode and if the typing worked on such PDFs. I’d be buying one right now 😊

Very good introduction and insights. Yes, the software really lags behind the hardware in terms of the functions. I think if they could do use cases similar to Notability in a focused approach, they would be hard to beat in the eink space. The ability to add pictures or meeting transcripts from a phone directly to a document would be good

Hi Voja, I was thinking about they direction of travel remarkable are taking to encourage users to 'mash up' typed and written text and something that has started the frustrate me on the platform could become an even more acute problem with this approach unless they support this better in the convert text feature. I use the text to email feature quite a bit to distribute meeting notes to colleagues and have started to use the typed text to give my hand written notes structure, however it is a real pain that when you convert the note page to text the conversion PDF or email completely ignores the typed text/ titles which is a problem when you have add them in post convert! I think this is only going to be more annoying when the keyboard is going to encourage this 'mash-up' even more. I have added this as a wish to remarkable but wondered if you had the same thought?

Looking very nice; cramped but for an emergency it would do. Although the second position is the most unusable one... How can you possibly draw or write for extended time while not touching the keyboard right below? You are forced to keep your arms up or you hit the keyboard if you rest your arms... Would make sense to have that angle if the keyboard was BELOW the screen, not right in front of it. Now basically only SN has no folio with keyboard...

Just received mine this morning and a brief update. The cover is not as good as the previous folio . My older folio has more padding and feels more premium although the typing experience is great. The remarkable name in the corner is not embossed on this one but sits up so could eventually fall off over time

The device itself looks interesting. Apparently, RM decided they needed a new product to sell and they are right. But, in order to do that, they have to widen their appeal from the pencil or pen on paper feel in a digital product to their system being a complete writer’s tool. There is a long way to go in that regard. Right now, for example, you cannot use your Bluetooth or Magic Keyboard to input on their mobile apps. Once you start to expand the concept you run straight into which is better for creating documents an E-ink device or an iPad, for example. The iPad is well ahead in that regard.

I'm tired of ReMarkable ripping us Canadians off; I hear it's even worse for Australians. Why can't they be like virtually any other company and just list product in whatever currency you like and I'll pay for it at whatever the going conversion rate was at that moment. If it's $199 USD, then we should pay around $270CAD, what's the extra $30 bucks for? If I were to buy a Boox Leaf from the Onyx Boox site; it would be listed at $199usd and $199usd would be removed from my account (which would convert to $270 CAD. The actual ReMarkable 2 is much worse; the device is $279USD to Americans which should convert to $383 for us in Canada. But instead we pay $549CAD which is $400USD!!! Why are charged over $100USDs extra?? I haven't had to do this with any other company; every other company I've bought something from online just sells it to me at the conversion rate; I don't have to pay some made up extra fee as ReMarkable does to us 😅. I wonder how bad it is for other countries besides Canada and Australia?

I know I'm dreaming really big when I say this, and it will never happen. But some kind of IDE integration for a few of the popular coding languages would be a freaking DREAM! I don't care if its a remote link to an IDE on another machine, or something completely native; I simply think coding on remarkable would be amazing! Crazy long battery life, no eye strain, extremely light and portable. What a programmer not to love? Especially if I could draw and write over my code.

Remarkable (ha-ha...) slick design but when it comes to the hardware I still see more advantages in my Keychron K3 (cheaper and I'd bet the K3 is the better keyboard than the remarkable one...) + Note Air 2 + Obsidian Setup. I prefer comfortable writing over fancy design anytime (looks cramped in both videos. Can not imagine typing anything longer than this comment on it...). Regarding the software it is still Remarkable (ha-ha 2) bad: You're closed in within their ecosystem. Not even sure if you can properly migrate all your files to a editable format(?). Especially thinking of the now possible typed ones. Don't know how these can compete with a boox device (or any future e Ink tablet with playstore) + a good BT keyboard + an open format system like markdown. IA Writer or Obsidian both work well on my note air 2 and with the latter you could even work something out so that you could combine handwritten notes with typed stuff and rearrange it to your liking (I'm too lazy for that and just add the handwritten notes as pdf in Obsidian...). The Remarkable all in one hardware & software package has some advantages like portability (but that goes for every 2 in 1 tablet setting vs. a separate BT keyboard...) and until you configured yourself a good system the Remarkable software wise provided workflow is probably smoother but I just think that for most people an open ecosystem would suit their needs better... And how functional is it really to write in the lower setup with the keyboard connected? Misstypes with your forearm preprogrammed....? Maybe I'm little harsh so I'm curious to see how these all works out in the review!

depends how you use the RM2. I am taking notes while on calls with clients e.g. - thats the main purpose and very fast. That was the MAIN reason why i bought the RM1/2. Its a "notetaking" device / instead of using paper. Using now the Keyboard will not make any sense to me (in this case i can directly write notes using my Notebook / Keyboard via Notes e.g. ). Also I will be forced to use the device now more in landscape mode which i do not like since i am not using pen and paper in landscape....who does that ??? So even with the 50$ discount it makes no sense to ME. Further when you flip the device it will become hard to use the pan i think since your hand/palm has to "fly" over the keyboard all the time otherwise you will touch keys i think. Not sure.but it does not look ergonomic to my eyes. Can just talk for my specific use cases. There might be people outside who will like that keyboard.

I am a big remarkable fan, but I am really struggling to see the point of this. Full sized bluetooth keyboards have been available for tablets for years. They are very cheap but I have never seen one actually being used. So, who wants this? Is this really something that should be being developed when we still cannnot email documents to the device or even paste images? I am more impressed by the fact that the mobile app allows you to do voice to text.

@1965anthony
@1965anthony Жыл бұрын
@@markroe4952 It is as much a function of the phone as the app, and you might have poke about in your settings a bit becuse android phones are all different. But it works like this. Open the rM app on a mobile phone and allow it to sync. Open a document. Tap on the screen for the new text input. Now, the clever bit. The keyboard that appears is called by the app, but it is actually part of your phone's operating system. So it will have voice input. If you are lucky, there will be a microphone icon on the keyboard. Otherwise, as I say, you might have to go into the settings. Anyway, activate the microphone and begin to speak. The keyboard will turn it into text and pass it to the app. The app adds the text to thew document and syncs it to your rM.
