Time to shorten up the swings and become a much more consistent golfer.
In this video, MyGolfDNA instructor Chris Tyler, shows you a really simple way to tighten your golf swing up once and for all. This drill will help you get rid of all that unnecessary movement and help you hit the ball further with a shorted swing. Try it out.

Love it Chris, I’ve been looking for a good backswing drill when things feel out of synch.

Didn’t think much of this upon first viewing it, but I was on a search for a reason. Did the reps exactly as Chris outlined and immediately noticed a different feel and consistency in my shots through the bag. Had a great round today and felt “in control” of the golf ball for the first time pretty much all season. Thanks Chris!

I'm looking to pump my drives about 265 down the middle so let me know if I have permission to practice the ol' 30-60-90-110. Thanks!

Hello Chris, Congratulations on your Your Tube site, which I enjoy and fine very helpful. Regarding your "Simple Ball Sticking Drill" above; could you please explain your full swing feel or what is driving the swing after reaching the 90 position. Are your pulling downward with both arms or tuning the chest etc. I am having problems finishing the swing or facing the target, once I shift my weight. You look exactly like the pro golfers going through the ball and I am having trouble achieving that. thank you and look forward to your new videos. Jeff Joseph

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for the kind words and thank you for joining. My personal “feels” are feeling the pressure shift through my feet. Once I feel the weight transfer to the lead side, most of my focus shifts to the release. The shift will move the arms all the way down into delivery. It’s important though to post up and release. The latest video I just released can help you out with that.

Hey Chris thank you for the content. I discovered Rotary Swing about 10 years ago or so and I’ve jumped around to different philosophies. I’ve been grinding your videos. One thing I’ve always struggled with Rotary Swing is what you mentioned to the above question. At the top of my backswing, the shift to lead foot or ‘squat to square’ never gets my arms into delivery on their own. Too much tension? I know it’s hard to answer without seeing my swing but have you come across other students that experience this? Thanks!

Thanks for airing this drill. Very helpful. I can see it from a frontal view . I’m however not sure how I should see this from a side view, I.e looking at your swing from your right side to the left. Example, when you’re at 90% , is the club at 45 degree angle? Also, is the swing always in front of your body? Not sure if I’m clear and explaining this properly. From a visual perspective, how you would do this from an side angle view on your swing would give , at least for me, a better visual of how you start and end the swing process.

When you're at the 90% mark, you want to feel like you're almost fully set with the wrists. Just shy of 100%. The point of the drill is to keep the "perfect positions" mindset less involved as wrist set, arm position, body turn etc. can all be considered variables from one student to the next. I don't advocate the arms getting too flat or too deep, as that can lack efficiency and create some recovery moves that can be considered more stressful on the body. So, most people do feel like the hands and arms are more out in front than one they are used to. I am/will be doing a video on this in the near future. Hope that helps.

Awesome drill! Any reason we can’t combine this with one of your downswing drills? Or is that too much?
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA 8 ай бұрын
You can combine this drill with any of the other downswing drills. I try to keep some continuity in the drills so you can use them bring the entire swing together. Just make sure you don’t go into system overload and your back checking things on camera.

Thank you for the video’s Chris. Question, do your clear your hips first before you start the down swing?
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA Жыл бұрын
My pleasure. More to come. When you start making your move onto the lead side, the hips will start to square back up from a wound position that you’ve created in the takeaway/backswing. The hips will then clear/open to 40-50 degrees during the post up and release of the club. I have a video on the channel that discusses how to get seated on the lead side properly. It’s called “start your downswing like a pro golfer | pressure shift”. That will show you how to get things moving properly. Hope that helps.

I have a narrow to neutral stance yet my head sways to the right about 3 to 4 inches. I notice that if I use my core/obliques more to rotate and a straight right arm on takeaway, I don't sway as much. Is this a correct technique?
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA 9 ай бұрын
That’s a very good way to reduce the excess lateral movement. This is definitely correct.

What if I have a half swing would it just be 30 60 shift?
@MyGolfDNA
@MyGolfDNA Жыл бұрын
Then probably not the most ideal drill for you specifically. Unless you feel like when you shift at 60, you'll have enough time to get the hips fully shifted and out of the way in time to release the club. You can play around with it. Maybe find where YOUR 90 would be and then see if that helps.
