Today I have shared Homemade Potato Starch with Zero Waste. Potato Starch is a versatile product and improves the texture of foods. It is used in Gluten-free baking to add texture to baked good, like bread, cakes and also use as a great thickener in gravies, sauces , custards and puddings.

INGREDIENTS (Yield 100g ~ 120g)
Potatoes - 1 kg (I have used here starchy potatoes)

00:18 Peel wash & cut potatoes
00:47 blend the potatoes with water
01:11 Strain the potato mixture
01:59 Cover & Allow it to rest for 1 hr
02:10 Making quick potato chaff snack
02:53 Potato starch settled at the bottom
04:16 Sun dry the starch for whole day
04:48 Grind the potato starch

When making potato chips at home, this settled starch was used by my Dadi to make papad. She used to wash the starch and then boil it with water and jeera till little thick consistency and then pour one spoon for each papad on a plastic sheet in the sun.

Just wanted to say thanks for this. I'm currently in the process of making my first batch of potato starch and just made the potato chaff snack as a side for lunch. Very easy to do and was a hit with my family! I suspect that I'll be asked to make them again in the future -- which means I'll have an excuse to make more potato starch!

I'm really impressed, this is so simple to make and straight forward 👏 🙌 ✨️. I must give it a try, potato starch helps make very crispy fried chicken and fish. For the potato chaff, there are some Swahili snacks in East Africa called Katlesi one can make with them, you stuff ground meat in them and fry them, very tasty snacks.
