I miss it when the UCL Final opening ceremony was a show of the host country’s culture. Nowadays, it’s just a pop-EDM festival under the brand Pepsi.

The Champions League final is way more prestigious than the Super Bowl but yet UEFA lowers their standards to the NFL’s standard by allowing pop singers to lip sync instead of showing off the host city’s culture. Shameful!!

What a day that was even though we lost too the best side no doubt (best side I’ve ever seen united face). Opening ceremony was so good, gave me goosebumps before the kick off.

Barca were the best team in the world at the time. Fergie himself had no complaints and said after the match that Barca were simply too good for any team to handle. You put up a good fight but we will never see a better Barca team than this again.

13 years ago today, footballing nirvana was reached 💔. And with 7 players that went through the youth system in the starting 11 as well. Other clubs might have been more succesful recently, none did it this way. Still the benchmark by which great teams that followed this one get measured.

Barcelona and Italy have the same feat. They won the European competition in the final held at Wembley and Olimpico. (Barcelona in UCL 2009 and 2011, Italy in Euro 1968 and 2020).

I enjoy such display about the hosting city's/hosting country's culture a lot more than what we saw with Alicia Keys in Milan (she has nothing to do with Milan). That is what the Champions League final opening ceremony should be about.

I totally agree. Champions League is essentially a European cultural thing; that's why I really like the EURO 2016 Opening this year, it was just full of French stuff... until David Guetta came on with EDM (yes, yes I know he's French) lol. I really hope they preserve this tradition.
