Am I the only one who needs to see this throw?! I’m totally the person who would miss out on the throw and it would bug me for months that I didn’t think enough of myself to ask for one 🤦🏻‍♀️

Being humble is certainly a good thing. When an opportunity presents itself as a result of your hard work, though, it is ok to accept it. That's very different from the embarrassing greed that you saw exhibited by those other people. I hope you enjoy your trip.

I am so like this, it's scary LOL I too will stand by...not quite sure...but never ask...and then it's too late. Observing others taking the absolute Michael. I know people say 'if its free then who cares' and the 'if you don't ask you dont get' but some people seriously lack a bit of decorum and respect. I think sometimes we are TOO polite for our own good, but it's nice to be polite LOL x

This kind of reminds me of that line from when the curtain falls "don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm" which I actually have to remind myself of regularly. It's so easy to see yourself as lesser and put others before yourself. It's so important to not belittle yourself like that. Helping others is amazing, but you need to prioritise yourself!

I’m so proud that you were brave!! Go Carrie! You got a fancy shmancy throw!! FOR FREE!! I also completely know what you mean about the distancing yourself from the edited version, looking at yourself on a screen and hearing your own voice often gets a bit much. I’ve found that distancing myself from it in a way helps me too x

this is something im learning as well. its okay to take up space, its okay to BE a person and to have just as much the right to ask for things you need/want. you deserve it just as much as everyone else. whether it is a throw, affection, help, anything. but small things like this sometimes make you feel really good and proud of yourself!

I know to a lot of people this might sound like an easy thing to do. To just ask two women a question. But I completely understand. I would be exactly the same and I’m so proud of you for doing that!! I just got back from my school where I auditioned for Fantine in Les mis and I’ve loved theatre for ages. I’ve been in shows but always in the chorus. I’m always too scared to even audition but I auditioned because I love this show and this character and it’d mean so much to me. And even though I know that song inside out I forgot a line and needed help but I didn’t sound awful and I’m really proud of myself for doing it. I definitely was not the best. I haven’t got that part or even a callback I just know it but though I’m annoyed at myself for forgetting the line (and therefore breaking character for a moment) I’m so proud of myself for putting myself out there. Thank you for giving me confidence, Carrie and I’m proud of you💜💜💜

Very different reasoning, but I got in the habit of waiting until the end to get stuff because I was always "working" the events I was at. My mom did a TON of events for the city, and charity fundraisers, and all that kind of stuff. So I decorated, helped chop vegetables, made punch, whatever was needed, starting at a young age. So for me all that goodie bag type stuff was for the people who were donating or who the party was for. The party wasn't for me. I was probably around 13 or 14 when I realized that I was also donating, just time instead of money. Still waited for later because I was rarely included in headcounts and whatnot, but I wasn't going to feel bad about it. I'd earned it.

I think I might have needed this video. Just wow. Taking us through the entire thought process of the whole situation it was EERILY familiar. This is EXACTLY what I do. All the time. With guilt and fear of being selfish or wrong as my driving forces. But hearing you, and thinking of YOU (not myself) and wanting to jump through space and time and just grab a throw and give it to you, or at the very least just ask anybody if they were for taking at the very start, makes me want to hit myself in the head to wake up (metaphorically of course, I'm a pacifist lol). It was so hard hearing you go through all that over something so simple and yet I do it all the time. I must low key hate listening to myself and for that reason try to spend as little time with myself as possible and instead seek distractions in the form of constant media and entertainment. I don't know how else to put it except this was like when you suddenly hear a recording of yourself you didn't know was taken and you realize how often you use the word "like" and cringe. Thank you for this. I'm going to also try and stop obsessing so hard over every little thing and worrying over what I "deserve". And I really REALLY hope you enjoy that throw!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏

I'm glad you got a throw, Carrie! Maybe you can't see yourself now because you need to be detached, but in 10 years or so these videos might be fun to go back and view, like looking at old photographs, and you'll remember the moments they commemorate fondly and be able to embrace them then. :)

I don't really know what to say but I think this video resonates with so many people. I once did a gig with my partner at a Christmas party. We stood around the piano singing and doing our thing and thought to ourselves, "maybe we'll take a 15 and get some water and there will be food leftover that they'll want to get rid of at the end of the party" and then the guy throwing the party came up and said "it's Christmas you guys are family! Get some food and relax when you want." 😲

Oh girl, I'm not sure if everyone would be similar in England, but in LA EVERYONE is out for free stuff. If Disney ever has a bunch of merchandise just sitting around not in a store there will always be those people that take more than their share, so you have to make sure to grab yours before those people have taken it!

This story reminded me of the summer I handed out free tee shirts - and the unbelievable greed that people have when offered free things! I don't understand what it is about "free" that makes people act so unreasonable and entitled... take your free thing and go - you don't need 5 of them, you don't need to harass the employee for a different size or a different color. Good on you for calling those women out and just taking 1 !

Honestly, I am very constantly trying to remind myself to let myself enjoy things like that, like free things being given away at parties or such. I did it recently when I went on vacation with my mom. There were two wonderful women that we kept running into who had a drink package where we were staying (my mom and I didn't, we don't drink *that* much) and they offered us free drinks. Old me would have declined and been like "no no no, that's okay! you don't have to!" And a part of me was really afraid that the staff would catch on and be like "YOU didn't purchase the drink package, blah blah blah." But...it was free. They weren't paying for the drink itself, they'd paid for something beforehand and wanted to share it. Why shouldn't I say yes if I truly wanted a drink? So, of course, I did. (Every time I saw them, but that's besides the point. I think they enjoyed sharing, honestly.) I think it's just a mindset, really, because we subconsciously believe we don't deserve these things or that other people, for some reason, deserve them more than we do. Sometimes it's important to remind ourselves that we deserve good things too (and that, sometimes, it's really not too good to be true, haha). Plus, if we don't take our share then someone will take advantage of that and take too much, like the ones who took 5 throws haha

To be honest I am quite jealous of those people who feel like they are entitled to everything (extra throws etc). I think life is just easier for them than for those who constantly apologize and worry if they could have nice things (myself included). they disregard politeness, cut queues but in the end they get what they want. I used to think that what goes around comes around but I have not seen it to be the case, sadly. Being shy and polite only gets one left on the sidelines, and being straightforward and entitled gets you places.
