Rehab has been something I’ve gotten a lot of questions about since I went in January 2019. I totally understand why as it’s something that is kept very hidden and hardly spoken about. As I have no shame, I don’t mind sharing my experience! Also, I had such a good time it feels appropriate to talk about it as I know there’s so many negative stories out there. If you’ve got any questions, let me know in the comments below. If I get enough, I’ll do a follow up Q and A. Thanks so much for watching, have a happy day! Janet x

So glad you found your way back. I tried so many times to put the bottle down but the day my now wife got pregnant I've not picked it up since, 12 years on. Therapy for my PTSD has helped me along with my kids.

One is to many and ten is never enough!!! THats the truth about any addiction. I am a recovering addict myself. I have been clean for 8 years now. I do not drink or any drugs, but at times it gets tough. What i love about you janet is your willingness to speak the truth hoping someone else will hear what your saying and maybe go to rehab or doctor or whatever it takes for their addiction. Your a Boss, Never lose that about yourself, its hard to find these days!!! You are a beautiful human!!!!

Glad that you've shared this. It's important for addicts your age to see that they are not alone and that there is a way out. You mentioned it in that you were glad to have people your age there with you. Keep sharing, you save two lives - your own and the person's that is ready to hear what you have to share.

My heart goes out to you Janet. We've all lost lovely people. I lost my high school sweet heart after 37 years of marriage to cancer. Spent the last 4 years recovering from grief. Like you, I finally escaped the 'bubble' of emotionlessness and can 'feel' life again. So glad you found help, friends and life again. I wish people would have been there for me. Thank you so much for continuing to give of yourself to help others. I'm absolutely thrilled to see you happy and healthy. You inspire me. Thank you.

I adore you so much for posting this Janet! I went to rehab for drug addictions at the start of 2020 and it was amazing for so many of the reasons you described. The closeness that you form with other addicts is like nothing else and you made me laugh so much remembering silly adventures and ways we were treated like children. I'm also really happy that you expressed the severity of benzodiazepine addiction as it's one of the most insidious yet dangerous, as in the withdrawal can actually kill you. And this isn't as widely known as it should be. I'm so proud of you and I know how difficult this is 💚💚💚

I agree to some comment, that if you really, truly want to go in there, you more likely get better results. This video should, as it is now, be shown as an educational lesson for all people, who struggle, or know someone who struggles with addictions, so basically to everyone. Much love!! 💕

Thank you for being so open about your experience . I was in for an eating dissorder and depression, qnd a suicide attempt. No one talks about the people that impact our lives while we are in there, wether they are annoying as sin or so helpful and friendly, or even the ones you play practical jokes on that make day to day manageable. It took me several weeks and several different stays to realise yes these people were great, and made the experience so much better. I also realised i had to do this for me, not for my family that i put through absolute hell, not for the counselors or doctors and therapy people, but for me. I though at first, do this to make them happy, thats the reason why the first few stays didnt work. It didnt mean anything to me. Until i saw one day a man get his medication infront of his child for a methadone addiction, and the look of his childs little face broke my heart. I let loose this torential amount of tears and anger and hurt and just utter disgust i had with myself for what i did to my own body. Rehab was the best and worst moments in my life. It led to the most rewarding moment in my life, me getting better and having a little girl. 17 years later she has the most firey spirit and wicked sense of humor.

I loved this! I will be 30 this year, was an addict since I was in my late teens, started with alcohol ( even though I didn't know it until a couple years ago) then switched to liquor and coke, then added opioids to the mix ,then just did the opioids for 6-7 years. Tried stopping on my own a few times but it never stuck. Then went to rehab/detox and had one of the best times in my life with amazing people and tons of laughs. Which I didn't realize how desperately needed after losing all of my friends and left my ex the day before I went to rehab. Mentally I needed to feel that happiness was still possible. I've been sober for two years going strong and a positive experience about rehab goes a long way for people looking into going. I appreciate how honest and brave and wonderful you are! Never change! Lots of love from millions of miles away over here in Saint John, NB, Canada.

It was hard to say goodbye to my lil' sis too when she went into rehab for the first time. She was so scared. So I hugged her and whispered to her: "Do you remember the movie "The Terminator"? She laughed even as I could feel her tears on my shoulder and answered, "Yeah..." and I said: "Because you are gonna Sarah Connor this bitch..." She did too. Just got her 6 month chip.

I have watched pretty much all of your videos and I feel that you should consider a possible "category" of videos that tell your stories of dealing with mental health, addiction, eating disorder etc so that people actually looking for these types of videos will find them without having to search your name. I say this because I feel your videos are so good and so honest and open and show that people are not "special" and "alone" in dealing with these types of things. Maybe a website that deals with addictions and rehab would welcome your videos for use. I just feel that you are an excellent speaker and it's obvious that your feelings are worn on your sleeve. So much love for you. HUGS

I don't know what it is about you, but when you talk so openly about the trials and tribulations your life have taken you though, I get such a strong urge to just give you a big hug, (not in a creepy way) but just to let you know you are not alone in these feelings and that there are lots of people that truly care about you. So many talented people seem to have ghosts in their closets that are kept hidden from the public until their tragic end, but you have decided to express your deepest feelings, freeing your emotions and keeping you grounded in reality, healing your soul. By doing this you are also helping so many other people that are also dealing with their own inner demons. Thank you for being such a talented, honest, caring person. God bless you and keep you safe.

ive just got out of hospital after 2 years. It was kind of a 'rehab'. but I just wanted to say, i also had times where I laughed so hard I couldnt breathe, I cried and I couldnt stop giggling after. I met the most amazing people there, lifelong friends. I also empathise with insomnia and eating. I gained alot of weight in hospital (also have an ED) and I'm the biggest I have ever been. I also get the pettiness, I was such a twat sometimes. You are really an inspiration to alot of people and I love watching you, you have an awesome sense of humour.

I remember that admission photo from the "Better Now" chapter in your book. It was great to read about you going from that broken girl, to drum therapy, and joyfully skipping through the hallways. I'm so happy that you recognized, for yourself, that you needed to go away and seek help before you lost control, so that you were able to have a positive experience.

Thank you so much for sharing. I lost my very close friend who I met in rehab 6 years ago, last sunday due to euthanasia. I miss her dearly, because like you said... we know each other on a level not even your family knows you. Somehow this video helps me heal because as much as rehab sucks we had loads and loads of fun and I'm glad I get to remember my time with her in and outside of rehab with a smile on my face :) thank you Janet i love u

I always find it funny how people say "I am so glad I am clean", "I am so happy I stopped drinking" but never once have I ever heard someone say "I am so glad I started drinking...". Says a lot. It's wonderful you have such a supportive family. I am so happy for you!
