Mysterious Angkor-era ruins in the Cambodian jungle! I didn’t expect this! Phnom Dei Temple

Explore a beautiful and mysterious hidden temple ruin with me! I started out looking for two temples north of Siem Reap. What I found is perhaps my favourite temple site so far! The route takes us through many different kinds of terrain and the roads range from highways to goat tracks, and everything in between. It’s extremely unlikely you will come across anyone else visiting these sites. You definitely won’t see any tourists.

Well after last years failure I was finally able to visit the Phnom Dei temple today with my family. Very serene and beautiful. Combined it with the Knpop temple which is very close by(10 min) and also swallowed by the jungle. And you can also do Banteay Thom on the way back. So you have three stunning temples devoid of tourist.

You’re brave…..the thought of land mines freaks me out. Being alone there in that silence looking at the work and lives of ancient people ….i would find that very moving spiritually. In ways looking at answers that we’ve lost along the way…..a sense of finding and loss. But as an individual …..more than that
@ForRiel

Yes, a lot of different thoughts and emotions were swirling around. The evidence of looting is something that affects me, and to see that it had taken place in a place like that made me very sad. On the other hand, I felt so much wonder about the fact that I was there, in that place, all by myself, having travelled there under my own steam. Quite a powerful experience.

Went there last year in the wet season. The road had turned to mud and although I'm experienced dirt biker, on a small moto, the road was a challenge. Made it to the site and was like you alone and felt like trespassing. Late afternoon and dark clouds building up I decided to turn back without going past the statue. Will go back there in a month or so and this time not alone. It was brave of you to go alone but since it's so remote.....mabey something to thing about next time. Really enjoyed the video though..!!!

* The rider starts the journey by going through the Ankle Wat and the Bayon before reaching the north gate of Ankle Tom [0:01 - 2:22]. * He takes a detour off the main road to find temples but ends up finding an abandoned camp with Buddhist flags and laterite stones [2:23 - 5:22]. * The rider gives up on finding the first temple and heads to the second one, where he finds a large statue, several structures that look like the tops of doorways, and leaning prangs [5:23 - 10:22]. * He is impressed by the beauty of the temples and feels fortunate to be able to explore these ruins [10:23 - 11:22]. * On the way back, the rider stops at a bridge and shows the viewers the surrounding area. He concludes the video by mentioning another temple with an absara marker, which is now easily accessible on the roadside [12:14 - 14:26].

Hello, I watch your videos regularly. They are either informative or very beautiful, like this one. I have a phobia of spiders. I have 2 questions for you: 1. In the first images of this video we can see you on a terrace surrounded by vegetation. Question: Do you have spiders entering your home? (large size, small ones don't scare me, not much) 2. You go to the forest and you don't seem to care about the animals. Cambodia is a country that still has a lot of snakes, tigers, elephants and....spiders. Do you see a lot of spiders during your exploratory walks? I thank you in advance for your answers. And I look forward to seeing your next videos. Best regards.
