This was so good to see how other families do MoH. Are y’all still using MoH? We are in volume 2 currently and keep getting tempted to try biblioplan.

Thank you so much for this fantastic overview! It helps so much to see how you are implementing all of the supplemental materials. I am doing Sonlight now but considering a switch for my son’s eighth grade. I’m actually torn between this and the Notgrass World Geography which he really wants to do.

My pleasure! So glad the video was helpful! Our family enjoys MOH very much for World History. 😊 For our oldest son’s eighth grade year, we used Notgrass Uncle Sam and You Civics course kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLZ4hK1pscC1k4k.html and our currently using the World Geography for his 9th grade year kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nNmFksily9HFpZs.html (in addition to the MOH volume 2 which we are doing as a group subject with all 3 boys). Both are great Curriculum and have worked well for our family. ( I have never used Sonlight but have heard great things as well). Thank the Lord for all these great options to choose from! 😊 I pray you find the best fit for your son for the new year. 💛🌻

@ His arrows - our hands I love love your videos. I’m new to homeschooling (as of January) and like you I’m a mom of boys (4 to be exact) and I’m excited to be able to give them great biblical based education. Your tips and reviews have been very insightful for me.

I have struggled a little with MOH this year, but I love the concept and writing so we are still doing it next school year. Your video is very helpful to get a visual of how to implement it better. Thank you!!

Volume 4 is definitely more advanced than the others, but having group discussions regarding the topics throughout Our lesson times has benefited us greatly. I am So glad the video was helpful to you!💕

I love MOH. We’ve done 1&2 and probably doing 4 for 10th grade. Thank you for this helpful review.

Thank you for this video. It was very helpful to see how you plan things out. In your experience with this level, do you think it could be done with a 3rd, 6th and 8th grader together? I also have one in K this year but I won't be doing history "officially" with with her, but she may be in the room with us while I read to them. Thank you!

Hi Vicki, so glad the video was helpful. Thanks for watching. 💕 It is hard for me to say as each child is so different. I can say that the 4th volume is definitely more advanced than the others (longer lessons & more in depth topics)… Our 3rd grader did sit in on a lot of the lessons but I did not have him complete any of the worksheets or tests (it would have been a bit over his level). Our 7th & 5th grader did amazing with this level… and although not his curriculum, our 3rd grader did learn a lot! 🙂 (On a side note.. we did do volume 1 of MOH when the boys were in 6th, 4th & 2nd and that level worked great for them all!)

Great explanation. Being a Christian worldview book, is there enough information about other religions and cultures to be sufficient? I do want my son to know there are other religions, and such.

That is actually one of the things our family appreciated most about this curriculum as it definitely delves into many different cultures and religions (I saw this especially in volume 1- as ancient history was explored). The lense in looking at these different religions is the Christian World View and the Bible as the ultimate truth.

How long would say each lesson was? Less than an hour?
@HisArrowsOurHands
@HisArrowsOurHands 3 жыл бұрын
From my understanding, Level 4 is more advanced and longer that the first 3 levels (we have also used Level 1) I think it really depends on what you decide to do. Some lessons are longer than others… I liked to stop as I read the lesson aloud to have discussion with the boys as we went along, so that definitely made it longer 🙂 but was well worth the time invested (for us). The lesson length can also depend on if and how many of the optional activities you include in the lessons. In our experience, the lessons lasted around 30-40 min… but again it will depend on how you want to tailor it. (There were some lessons that I spread out over the course of a few days). Hope this helps 🙂

How does MOH handle figures such as Christopher Columbus?
@HisArrowsOurHands
@HisArrowsOurHands 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer, Christopher Columbus falls into the time period covered in Volume 3, which we have not yet studied. However, in volume 4, Lesson 2 is titled, "The Thirteen Colonies of North America." This lesson presents the history of the formation of the 13 colonies in which the author introduces the lesson with a look into the "new world" which she shares with the framework that it was not really "new" or a world but instead a land that "Native peoples had inhabited... since the Ice Age." She then proceeds to tell the story of the addition of each of the colonies. I feel that throughout the 2 volumes that we have studied so far (volume 1 & volume 4), Mrs. Hobar does a wonderful job in presenting all sides of history, through the lens of a Biblical World View. However, that is just my opinion, and I believe each family would need to decide what angle to approach these various topics in history. I hope this helps and that you find a curriculum that works well for you and your family. :-)
