A suspenseful, slow-burning mystery that could blow up at any moment but saves it in good time. Pedersen is a tower of strength, with Bruce Spence nicely lending him some much-needed friendliness and Hugo Weaving dicing it up masterfully. 5/5 stars.

I couldn't follow a word of that dialogue And I'm Australian It would have helped if the sound editor had toned the score down so you could actually *hear* what they were saying

To me, I think the score in the trailer is perfect just the vox track is too low and muddled. Even at the quietest parts of the score, the voices are not clear. The style of the score here completely reminds me of Sicario.

The sound editor isn’t responsible for that kind of issue. It’s the re-recording mixer.

This is the 1st time ever I've seen a trailer without knowing if I saw the movie before. If I did, the movie was really good. Guess I have to rewatch to find out!

True words. In an age of breakneck speed dialogue and explosions, this film is the Zen craft of suspense. Great movie.

Just watched this movie. So why did the drug dealers killed the girls?? Also what is the real reason Hugo weaving’s character is involved with the drug dealers???! I need answers 😁😁

One (or more) of them just liked to kill girls. Weaving has just been corrupted by money, but discovers he has a line, or a bit of who he was.

I love minimalist slow burn because it allows the characters to really focus on the nuance of their acting. You also have to be a really good storyteller with the right pacing to make it work. I never felt like I knew what was going to happen next. Good subtle tension & believable characters & dialogue. Sadly, the title & trailer are meh. Ignore that, and just watch it.

Anyone explain this movie! I have watched it twice and can't make head nor tail orrit! Is the 'bent ' cop bent!? If he was bent and in with the drug's gang then why didn't he shoot Jay? Who Killed the girl? What did the hidden drugs have to do with it !?

The movie is a slow burner, and no it's not a rip off from No Country For Old Men, if you don't like it than fuck off, not everything has to be made like a Hollywood type

You are kidding right? We have the largest cattle stations, in terms of area, in the world. That said, we call our cowboys Jackaroos and our cowgirls Jillaroos.

i was confused. Wasn't Hugo Weaving's character a part of the drug-dealing scheme? Originally I thought he wanted to kill to the protagonist.

Fair question! Here's my take on it... This film left a lot unseen and unsaid, which greatly added to the suspense. Seems to me that Weaving's character was in debt to the bad dudes ( remember him sniffing a lot?) but wanted to manage it alone until it became clear that he could leverage Pedersen's daughter's risk to his own benefit. Shitty thing to do, but it gave him a redeeming chance to go down fighting.

Australia has so much potential for more movies on the big screen (even internationally i reckon) outstanding performances, gritty drama, great cinematography but unfortunately a lot of them a very slow paced which some viewers may easily find boring or the typical phrase 'aussie movies are boring/depressing'. I think Australia has big potential for the future in the movie industry.

The Australian film industry is crap by comparison. Most of the actors work odd jobs to supplement their income with the best ones (or supposedly better actors) making greater success in Hollywood. The only potential Australia has for big box office flicks is its filming locations. Quite frankly alot of Australian movies and tv shows are just shit!

Movie was boring. nothing like American movies except trying too hard to be like Americans. Its slow and leads up to a gun scene which ive seen much better much more times. Ppl who are commenting are making a big deal, literally out of nothing. Film sucked and i am apologizing to my daughters dad who i had sit through this entire movie with me because of these comments made by either little children or australians who dont know shit about good movies. Nobody does it like USA, nobody does anything like USA. It was bad....
