Great video Pan. Two things to consider. We’ve been playing with foam cannons and cleaners for about 20 years. I’ve found two things to work better when using foams. Don’t let it soak that long. We foam, reinstall the tip in the pressure washer lance and rinse right away. Usually the foam is on the car for 1-2 minutes tops. Always rinse from the bottom up. These foams are designed to suspend the dirt and use the high pressure rinse to lift the dirt from the surface. Rinsing normally from the top down will rinse the cleaner away before the high pressure rinse can do it’s job. We consistently get better results doing these two things. I know you’re following manufactures recommendations, but I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

You make an excellent point with the PIR. On those vehicles with heavy mud and road grime, the higher PIR will do the better cleaning. For maintenance washes, the lower PIR (around 1) will do the cleaning with minimal wear and tear on the protection. As a rule, I apply protection in the form of a sealant or sealant and wax on any vehicle that isn't on a maintenance schedule. This gives the customer the benefit of high gloss and solid protection for as long as possible. Thank you for the excellent video! I have to admit, I would not consider a touchless wash on any vehicle as my obsession with cleanliness won't allow it - I have to do a contact wash as well :)

Excellent video Pan! IMO touchless washes are great for getting a 75 - 85% clean. Important to only blow dry when doing touchless washes since there are still some remaining contaminants on the surface

While going through my last winter wash at a local gas station, I thought about an idea for an episode(s) for your channel. During the winter months most of us living in sub freezing temperatures have no option but to use drive-through car washes. If you can come up with way to compare the different car washes in terms of the quality of the products use, the cleanliness of the water ( recycled water ?), effectiveness of the pressure cleaning / drying etc

Hello from Chicago! You and I met a few weeks ago at The Bays Romeoville, Illinois location and talked a little bit about my experience with Jescar UltraLock (ceramic). The first time I washed the car was after applying UltraLock was after Chicago Streets and Sanitation workers applied more salt and sodium chloride to the roads than measurable snow. Needless to say, my Subaru Outback was coated with salt a sodium, and crud. When it came time to wash, I applied a ph neutral car shampoo for the UltraLock’s first wash, I was amazed as all the salt, sodium and road grime simply slipped off the car and onto the alley during the rinse. For a moment, I thought I discovered a car detailers nirvana! However, the second wash left grime and the third wash left grime. You’re right-touch less car wash is a myth! Thanks for the video!

I would have to do a contact wash after this as My OCD would make Me nuts. Regarding pollen(it's bad here) would You constantly use a rinseless/contact wash? Vs blowing it off with a leaf blower? Now my car wasn't dirty like his but it works for me to do a "pollen maintence wash" when it's HEAVY❗️ The TWHS Hyper Foam I actually used 3 brushes because I like CLEAN wheels but I only use this every so often, Brake Buster is my maintence go to wheel cleaner👌 Nice meeting you 2 weeks ago at CSW, hope you enjoyed the tacos, you needed a break, even the Rupes guy agreed☺️

Acid and alkaline together would actually make a pretty decent cleaner once every 6 months or so. You can probably mix your own touchless cleaner by using autoshampoo/snow foam plus a regular alkaline cleaner (like KC Greenstar). According to my understanding you only need the consistency of the snowfoam to make the alkaline cleaner stay on the surface for longer. Snowfoam plus alkaline cleaner will give you just that.

As long as the dirt level on the car is very minimal yes you could try that. If there’s a good amount of dirt/road grime on the car don’t rinse the car first. Cause that will cause scratching with all the excessive dirt. A pre treat foam would be best first. Unless of course you don’t mind rinsing that dirty of a car.

Bilt Hamber Touch-Less foam works best when used as a system with Bilt Hamber Touch-On ceramic paint protection, after the initial wash and easy application, your car stays cleaner for longer and subsequent washes just require a blast with the Touch-Less foam until a reapplication of Touch-On is required depending on the time of year. I have had comments about how my car always looks clean despite not washing it that regularly.

My workhorse 2015 Lincoln MKS gets a full automatic contact wash hundreds of times per year. My wash package allows me unlimited passes. And some winter days, I may go through 3 times. But I keep it, clay bar'd, polished and waxed. It's got over 370k miles and while the finish is not showroom new, it still shines like crazy when clean...no touchless washes here...

I started doing touchless washes in between full washes. I just pre-rinse with clear water, foam with regular car wash, and rinse. I will follow up with spray wax on the wet car and dry with very clean towels. I keep my car under a cover outside, and it does get a buildup of very fine dust after a rain.

I did the brushless automated car wash on my brand new Dodge truck from the very start. Car wash was close so I would drive it immediately home and park under the carport. I then had 25 or so microfiber rags pre wrung out. I would then, with a one-way motion, wipe the dirt away folding and turning the rag often. I also had a dry microfiber rag to wipe it all dry behind me. It worked great and for over 10 years I never had any micro scratches that I could see at all. It was a dark metallic paint. I was living in the eastern desert of Washington state at the time.

I would like to see a Bilt Hamber products test. I use BH auto wheel, and after trying at least 12 wheel cleaners, I found the BH product to be the best. It reacts the quickest as an iron fallout remover, yet it also has fantastic cleaning ability too. I use BH auto foam in an Auto Glym foam gun, which gives a thick foam, but not too thick that it doesn't do it's job which is to slide the dirt off the paint surface. Good to see you rinse top to bottom, which is always how you should imo. I see a few rinsing snow foam bottom to top, WHY ??? What is the point of rinsing the dirtiest part of a car (the bottom bit) upwards onto the cleanest part ? I think valeters and detailers who go against gravity also think the earth is flat too.

@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
Only if used every week at 5% PIR. That's a bit too strong for continuous use. If used once in a while, every other month to remove grime and traffic film, no problem for true coatings (glass bottle types) as those can typically resist higher pH chemicals. But if you want to use it weekly, just use it at 2% PIR and that's fine.

I was in the commercial carwash business for 25 yrs in the Fingerlakes region of upstate NY. We had a 100’ soft cloth tunnel, 2 touch less Laser washes, and self serve bays. We tried every chemical and combination of chemicals available. Road dirt and salt will generally be removed from vehicles with chemical and high pressure water, road film needs friction to be removed. The key is removing the abrasives before touching, as this gentleman states in this video.

Hi Pan, is it worth jet washing the vehicle first, then put the B-H foam on? I find if you do this the chemicals do a much better job of getting deeper in to the grime. P&S Brakebuster is my go to wheel and tyres, but is there something better for really dirty tyres initially? I'm about to do first cleans on my brothers cars for his garage, not to your or my level but a decent level, so was thinking a TFR (traffic film remover) as a first job, but seems the B-H is better? Where did you get the protector end on the car dryer, I have one of these and its great but sometimes just touch the car so a protected nozzle would be very good? Thanks for the info as always, my go to for anything I need looking at. Enjoy the spring!

Hi! Just wanted advice. I'm very sensitive with swirl marks and scratches. I used to wash my car in the garage myself. But I moved to an apartment with no water supply and hose in the garage giving me only tunnel car wash as an option to clean my car. I know improper ones can scratch, but if I always have a proper layer of wax, will that guarantee that my car won't get swirl marks in the long run? I dry my car properly with microfiber so its just the automatic car wash I'm worried about. Thanks!

I think touchless wash is achievable But probably not cost effective. My first idea is to refoam Bilt hammer when the car is dry or even trying products for road grime/film. 2nd after the first foam go closer with the presser washer but not too close to remove paint. Depends on the pressure and flow rate. Have removed 90% of floor resin with a pressure washer and the rest with cutting compound and rotary.

Pan I am a fan but this video I have 2 thing that bothered me. both on the paint and both on the wheels you left the chemicals to dry. I'm using bilt hambers product for a year and I found that since they're very powerful you don't need to let them sit too much. 1-2 minutes is enough. see when you leave it too much, the dirt that is being lifted is starting to dry and stick to the paint wheels, so you gotta find the sweet spot and rinse it before it starts drying again. I have fantastic results with this products, even better than showed on your video, sometimes a contact wash is pointless since bilt hamber products do such a good job. cheers mate.

Pan, what am I doing wrong? I tried to do a touchless wash and that didnt work, so I decided to wash my truck in the safest way possible since its band new and I dont want to scratch the clearcoat. I went out and I bought a dozen of Microfiber Chenille Mitts to wash my brand new black truck with my foam cannon. I foamed the entire truck and I let the soap dwell for a little bit and then I used a clean wash mitt for a small section. As soon as I was done I tossed the dirty mitt in a bucket and I used a clean unused mitt on the next section. When I air dried the truck I noticed some small swirl marks on the paint. I dont understand how this happened?? Do you have any idea what I did wrong?

It popped up in my feed. i'm always up for learning. I been in the car business my whole life. I have done it all. hand wash, touchless, soft cloth and even nylon bristle. The nylon bristle car washes from the past is where the whole thing started with scratches. Back in the day when the car wash used nylon bristle brush's and the paint was soft lacquer, the paint surface was easily surface scratched. Now with clear coats and soft cloth, there is no comparison. It does not scratch like people claim. People scratch their own cars setting things on them, driving through the bush and getting snow off of it with a push broom or a shovel . Then they go through the car wash and see the damage once the car is clean and right away point blame.

Out of curiosity, do you prefer the turtle wax hyperfoam over brake buster? I use both since my M brakes create a lot of dust and I tend to use it when the rims are completely soiled. It does seem like the hyperfoam does a lot more work pre agitation, but after agitation the results do look the same. The hyperfoam also runs out incredibly quick compared to brake buster.

Great video. Question for you though: have you tested any 2-step touchless washes? It would be nice to see a comparison between this one step soap and a 2-step soap. Mainly because with 2-step soaps, the step 1 is a low pH which helps to breakdown the static bond which makes traffic film stick to your surface. Then you follow-up by foaming the high pH step 2 overtop of the step 1, which neutralizes the step 1 and also breaks the static bond between dirt particles and the surface. In my experience, the 2 step touchless soaps work loads better than single step ones. Full transparency, I do work for an automotive chemical company. I reached out to you via email 2 years ago offering to send a free sample of another one of our products and didn't receive a reply (I'm sure you get a lot of emails, so no worries). But since then, we have released a 2-step touchless wash which has been very well received by the trucking industry and also widely used as a maintenance wash for ceramic coated vehicles. This comment isn't meant to be a plug for our brand, so I'll refrain from mentioning the brand name or product name. If you search your emails from July 2021 for my name, you'll find it. Always love your content. Cheers!
