Mill Brook Railroad

Жыл бұрын

Today, it's time to pick up a load of steel and move a newly acquired car up to the yard.
The newly acquired car is from the Ossipee Central Railway, which was very recently acquired by the MLBK. You'll see more OCR equipment soon.
Did you know? The Mill Brook Railroad is funded entirely by KZfaq ad revenue and patrons on Patreon! You can help support the Mill Brook Railroad by becoming a patron as well. You'll get advance access to videos and some exclusive content.

About time to get the weed sprayer out there, yeah? The battle of Cudzilla is taking over our railroad as well. Luckily 286k lb boxcars do a decent job of cutting through it for now. Also, would it be prudent to secure the load on the flat car with straps? Today's trip showed no signs of shifting or rolling, but it "could" happen. Anyway it's neat to see a scale model getting some utility function out of it! It makes me think and the first question is; Do they make functioning tank cars in that scale? Would be a hoot to have a series of tank cars that could haul things like water. Thanks for sharing!
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 11 ай бұрын
Yes. It's about time to get the weed sprayer out. It has to not be raining, though. At least your empties don't get derailed on grape vines. Flat loads at 3 MPH tend to stay where they're put. This size railroad has a lot more in common with a garden cart in that respect. It's liberating, in a way. I take every opportunity to make the railroad earn its keep. It's not just for fun. Functioning tank cars are made in this scale. I have two so far. Both are homemade. One is an unfinished weed sprayer car, and the other is a water tank.

The MBRR looks to be running smoother now. 🙂 I did see a few things that you may, or may not, be aware of. 1-Drive chains appear to have slack, 2-Coupler heights not matching, 3- still having problems with the frogs on switches, and 4-Vegitation is beginning to encroach on the R.R. When do you plan to get the turntable in operation? With your planned expansion to the North(I think) will you be adding a second turntable or a 'Y' to turn the engine around? A turntable will take less trackage(space) than a 'Y' turn around. As always, a great job 🙂

In Florida, you'll want to use 7-1/2" gauge. That's what people are using in most of the country. The exceptions are: New England, New York, New Jersey, and eastern PA, and then in Canada, from Ontario east and the rest of the world outside of the USA is also 7-1/4" gauge.
