N222 One of the BEST Motorcycle Roads in the World? | Portugal Serra da Estrela R1250GS & Tenere 700

I was doing some late night research on the best motorcycle roads in the world and I stumbled across one that was mentioned in several different articles. This road just so happened to be right here in my backyard. The N222 is one of the most beautiful roads I have ever seen and definitely a huge draw for Portugal. Winding roads down by the river and through the mountains.
We hit the tallest point in Portugal on our way up north. Serra da Estrela mountain range is spectacular and full of great camping sites and plenty of waterfalls for the avid adventurer.
This ride was super quick and we saw so much in just two days.
as usual I was on the trusted R1250GS and my buddy was on his Yamaha super tenere 700.

Your gonna love it! Awesome pavement and stunning views. There’s some other great roads I didn’t hit in Serra da Estrela só tons to explore. It’s the right season

Hello American, if you liked the n222, you need to try the n2, with a guide on where to stop. You will definitely like it.

@@AmericanAbroad1 No, it is on the mainland, N2 starts in Chaves and ends in Faro (Algarve). There is a script. The biggest national road, like Route 66 but there is the size of our country, 739km, there is a lot of information on the internet.

Man you couldn’t have picked a better place to ride. I love the roads here. The restaurant we ate at was incredible and at a bargain price Tábua D'Aço - Actividades Hoteleiras, Lda. Hotel was - Plácido Hotel Douro Tabuaço. Decent digs for the price. Great breakfast. Enjoy your stay and let me know how you like it!
