Brock Beard I forgot about this moment for several years. One day, someone made a comment about it on a forum like this was folklore but it was never documented to be true. I dug out the photos on an old hard drive and posted them. At the time, I was working for Stan’s tiny one-truck operation. He had come over to our pit and asked one of our crew to borrow our spare bottle and gun. He, Cindy, and one crew guy were the only ones pushing the truck through inspection (with Morgan in his Citgo suit). I may have more photos from this day. I’ll keep looking. It’s been 20 years.

Good Video. I worked with Morgan in 2016, 2018, and early 2020 to get him back to the track. NASCAR changed a lot of rules during the off season and he wanted to go to Daytona. But with only a small budget putting the NEW body on his Daytona car would take almost all of the budget and with the big field he needed to Qualify in or go bankrupt. So I helped get ready for Vegas. He needed to put a new lower nose on the car I suggest he should use Carl Long guy. So he did. He was a little more expensive but was impressed that the car got through tech on first try. He Thanked me numerous times on suggesting him to use Carl Long guy. Because that was the 1st time for a new season start Morgan didn't need to take everything out of his trailer to fix the nose to get through tech. Usually the 1st 3-4 races of every season he have trouble getting through because the nose would fail on the scan or on templates.

Fun Fact: 2001 wasn't the last time a heavy metal act would try to be a sponsor in NASCAR. In the summer of 2017 Slayer tried to promote the then forthcoming final north american leg of their Farewell Tour behind Repentless which was scheduled to start a few days later by sponsoring a NASCAR driver for a single race. They even released renderings of the livery but NASCAR nixed it the day before the race, although considering the subject matter slayer likes writing songs about and their album art I can understand why nascar said no.
