Naiki Gumi, hollow Kumihimo cord

Naiki Gumi is a braiding technique that produces a hollow braid. You can make this hollow braid over a strong cord and then use it as a bag handle.
You can also make bracelets or key chains with this technique.

I learned how to do this technique about a year ago, at first it was very confusing cause the lady would do it twice to the right and twice to the left so I had to figure out to just do it once to the right and once to the left, which is exactly how you are doing it on this tutorial, now I can make bracelets with as many strings as I want without getting confused.

Dear Marion, I want to ask you a question, Do you think is possible to combine hollow kumihimo braiding with loom knitting? Am a loom knitter and love it 😊, same for the kumihimo braiding specially the hollow technique, love the different patterns and I been wandering how beautiful they would look on a winter hat.

Puedes activar los subtítulos en español. Y si va demasiado rápido, ralentiza el vídeo. You can turn on subtitles in Spanish. And if it goes too fast, then slow down the video.

When you pause the video at 51 seconds, you can see the set up for the purple and yellow braid. When you pause the video at 1 minute, you can see the set up for the blue braid. I also mention where I have put the colors. Or you can click on the link in the description under the video, to make you own design.
