Nakamichi is reserved for channel milestones so I don't have to work on them much, and for my 1k subscriber project I've chosen an old 480. This is a somewhat newer version of this model from the early 80s, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a LOT of problems. This one does nothing much and the eject mechanism is broken.
In part one, we're dealing with the backside of the transport. New idler, new shutoff belt, some greasery, and fixing the broken plastic eject clamp.
This unit has too much going on for one video, so I'm making life easy on myself and splitting it into parts. I don't like Nakamichi enough to try to do this all in one long video.
Shutoff belt used: 110mm IC x 0.7mm
Control belt: 130mm IC x 2mm
Idler: 13x20x3mm (Fix Your Audio)
I'm re-using the old capstan belt. It's loose but still usable. Otherwise, use an FRSP9.6 if you need this belt.
