Hey NALF, if you are interested in good Brezeln you should look for some with thin arms and a fluffy bow/arch. Brezeln with thicker arms (and salt on the arms) are bavarian style Brezeln, which are usually "breadier" aka not as soft because they dont use as much butter as the swabians, but more important, they are the go to industrial Brezel. So if you find Brezeln with thicker arms and salt everywhere in Baden-Württemberg, they are often from a factory somewhere else. Brezeln with thin and crispy arms and a fluffy arch are the swabian/baden style and a sign for Brezeln made at least in the region.

Love that you went to HD first! Well done. About the Butterbrezel. It’s hard hard to find a really really good one. At my old company the staff would have Butterbrezel tastings each year for the annual shareholder meeting. They would get Brezeln from five or six local bakeries and have us top floor staff taste and rate each one. Then they’d get that one for the Big Meeting. Silly? Maybe. Many free Butterbrezeln? Definitely! And they were delicious.
