An Americal friend once asked me to watch a webcam from Ocean City, MD. He asked me if i noticed anything....and I hesitated to say: I see a lot of overweight folks slowly moving towards the beach. So I came up with some polite things. And each time he said, "anything else...? Don't be afraid if it's negative..." He meant the obesity. You don't see that many obese people in Germany, so it strikes you instantly. He was relieved I saw it as well.

Grocery shopping is stressful in Germany. There always is a little competition between you and the cashier, whether she can scan the items quicker than you can put them in your bag. BTW: she won, if she tells you the total before you put everything away.

The trick is to put stuff like cucumbers and apples in between since they have to weigh them first or something made of glass since they are gonna be much more careful with that. @@juyonglee7426 That's correct. The German workforce is concentrated around the production of high value products for the entire world. The real thing, so to speak. My family, in Germany for a family reunion and vacation, just left Schwäbisch Hall this morning. Beautiful town! Years ago, while visiting Schwäbisch Hall, I got stuck on the outside of the canvas wall they had erected to limit access to the main square. Must have been a concert or other performance taking place. I climbed under the canvas, trying to get back to our hotel or where my family was dining. I was greeted on the other side by two workers who probably thought I was trying to enter without a ticket. I pointed in the direction of where I needed to go and said the German equivalent of “my mommy and daddy are there.” They laughed hysterically and waved me through. We still laugh about the experience ourselves. My German is better, nur ein bischen, these days. Enjoy watching your uploads. Thank you.

And I kid you not, we turned the corner into Neue Straße when you suddenly walked past us towards the Michelskirche. The odds of that happening... absolutely ridiculous. I tried getting your attention by saying "NALF?" but you were wearing earphones and were too far away by this point. I then had some explaining to do since my family looked at me funny for saying something "random" to some guy walking down the street lol Maybe next time I get to say hi! Thank you for your videos.

I'm native german...but I never was happy with that. On one side there is a lot of history and culture, dialects, traditions, art and tech knowledge, but also a very wealthy, stupid, brainwashed population. Germany just is loosing its position in each way. To come to Germany, drink beer, admire our historical buildings and take a look over the mountains seems just an illusion of Germany...

You're a good "ambassador" for germany, and a good tour-guide as we'll! I'd love to see you exploring the north of germany or the freakingly beautiful rhine-valley, or even better: the EIFEL-Region and the unbelievably beautiful Ahrtal (which, as you surely be aware of, was struck by the biggest and most devestating catastrophy in July 2021... but even if, it's still probably the most impressing and beautiful places to visit in germany!).

I just returned to the States from the Kaiserslautern area. I absolutely loved visiting Germany. It is one of the cleanest and prettiest places I have ever seen. The no water thing was an eye opener to me as well. I don't know how the entire country is not dehydrated all the time. LOL. I ordered water in restaurants a couple of times and unless you specifically ask for plain water, you will get mineral water. And paid parking areas are a completely hilarious disaster in Germany.

Great memories here. I went to school for six months at the Goethe-Institut in Schwaebisch-Hall in the early 90s. Some of the happiest days of my life. A magical place. Stayed first in the noisy old Studentenheim, before moving to a quiet hotel. I remember the ancient Cathedral downtown, and the wonderful Greek restaurants. (You should have visited the fabulous swim hall with its' outdoor circular slide, saunas, and steam rooms.) Thanks for showing me my past.

It's really eye-opening to see someone experience the things you grew up with. These experiences feel common, not special anymore. Hence, seeing the city, the food, and nature through visitors' eyes makes you appreciate what you have. However, we have scarcely any water fountains in Germany, I can totally agree.

Next time in Munich: Wirtshaus zum Straubinger opposite the Schrannenhalle just a stone throw off Viktualienmarkt - that’s where locals go, cute little beer garden and awesome staff! Try the Schnaps tasting, brilliant! And for Pizza there is only Pasta e Basta @Fraunhofer U-Bahn Station, and opposite you have Bergwolf Imbiss (they import their Currywurst from NRW - LOL - proper and authentic Currywurst Pommes Schranke (white and red, Mayonnaise and Ketchup) Another cute Biergarten is Gasthof Hinterbrühl near the Flossländle. I loved living in Munich, particularly during the summer months. Maybe next time your family and friends visit Germany, but you ought to check out these places. Great video, as usual! Thank you for them all!

Great story, it's nice to share a unique cultural experience with family and friends. I share your deep respect for German bakeries. I recall that things looked like they would be much sweeter than they turned out to be (in general). Anything combined with marzipan is pretty off the charts, however. For about 2 years I went to the market street bakery in Esslingen am Neckar ~2-3 mornings each week. Fond memories.
