Hehe - well, I was deliberately trying to show the recognisable parts of the synth - but, as you know, with obscurity!

Well played sir! You made it very difficult because the way you use the filter gave it sort of a digital or FM tone however, you made it sound very lush and rich unmistakably Analog. And then the diversity of examples! Very much enjoyed the segment. I am interested to see the segment going viral and the rest of the synthesizer world picking up on it. Copycats, let’s see what they do!

Erm...sorry! Guess I was right, after all (sort of!) - but yeah... the filter did make it sound rather more digital. Oh well, let's keep on guessing!

gosh! very close to a cz101 string preset, i really like this "name that synth"

Interesting how it was considered a Yamaha by a few of you. I thought I was deliberately being Korg-ish ;)

nah, i thought it was a Korg Poly61m first. the CZ101 is a Casio, i never thought it was a Yamaha ;) the string sound in your demo is very close to that cz101 preset called: string ens.1, don't you think?

@@brettlemmings of course. I realise that - but the combination of social media comments (not just here) seemed to sway to Yamaha. When I replied to your comment, I must have been replying to another by mistake :) Anyway, back to the CZ101 - yes it has a similar "thin" sound. Perhaps they used a similar filter design?

ex800 & poly800 uses analog filter, as i'm sure you know, the cz101 is a totally digital thing that distorts a wavform to emulate opening of a filter, simply explained 😇

Sounds nice :) I thought it was a Monopoly. But Korg was as close as I got on this.

Monopoly - nice - and probably similar in a lot of respects. I used sounds that were "characteristic" of the Poly800/EX-800 - so I was definitely prepared for people to guess it.
