This is a Namibia travel guide. And, this is a Namibia photography guide. In fact, hopefully, there's everything you need to know about travel and photography in the country within this video.
Here are all my Namibia travel vlogs: • Namibia Vlogs
Namibia is one of the fastest growing tourism destinations in Africa. But there is still so much misinformation about travel in Namibia. So, I wanted to put together a travel guide to Namibia that is inn depth and covers every aspect of travel and photography in the country.
Of course, with my photography background, this guide focuses on photography. But, I think it basically covers all the travel guide stuff as well. I believe that with this video it should cover every question you have about Namibia as a travel destination.
If you have more questions about Namibia, be sure to drop a comment and I'll get back at you with the answers.
As for life, we're now out of Namibia and back in South Africa. I've got a bunch of travel vlogs and some photography bits here and there coming up as well.

You said at the end that "this was a long boring video". It was anything But that !!! It will be my "go to" resource when I get around to planning a trip to Namibia. You promised more of them and I'm looking forward to those. N.B. it reminded me of a large scale version of your guide to the Cinque Terre (I've been following your blogs that long!).

Really enjoyed this video and it was pretty concise so well done. I saw a picture of Deadvlei back in 2007 and had wanted to go there ever since. After a few cancelled trips I finally got to spend a couple of weeks touring Namibia in 2019 and it was everything I expected and more. What a wonderful country, especially for a photographer. Highlights were a dawn helicopter flight over the dunes in Namib-Naukluft Park, and staying in the fantastic Wolwedans Dunes Lodge in the NabidRand reserve; what a place.

Thank you so much for this Brendan. My wife and I should have gone on a long awaited trip to Namibia last month but waiting for lockdown to end and borders to open to get this trip on track. I lived in Whk in early 2000's and flew all over the place as flight paramedic incl several lodges to medivac tourists and vowed to return one day on a 4x4 trip. My first trip (from Pta) will be the southern part. Very helpful and I made lotsa notes. Good job.

I have to say, we just stayed at Ai-Ais, not camping, in the lodge itself, and the service and food was really low standard for the price we paid. The hot springs were very nice, so I would still go again for that, but the service and food really left us disappointed. Maybe camping there is better. There were people hiking in Fish River Canyon so you can hike there now.

Pointer! IF you decide to drive from parking 1 to 2 going to Deadvlei, be very careful and hit the pedal. There are big chances you’ll get stuck in the sand there. Trust me, it took a local crew 6 hours to retrieve my 4x4.

Super helpful video guide as we plan a 3-week self-drive in Namibia next month! Probably a long shot, but any idea if it’s possible to rent gear in Windhoek and return it by mail? Our itinerary looks to be ending in Maun vs. going back to Windhoek and I’d love to rent a telephoto (we’re traveling full time so my Tamron 150-600 is home in the states, sadly)...

This video was such a gift, Brendan! Thanks for posting it. I have two questions. First, what was the name of the gear rental store in Windhoek you use to rent your lenses? Second, you've said that a 4x4 isn't necessary. Except for the two places you mentioned, do you think it would be feasible to do a self-drive in a rented 23 ft. 2WD RV with standard RV ground clearance?
@BrendanvanSon

Capture Namibia is the lens rental. And, yeah, absolutely. Just make sure you have spare tires on hand in case of flats as the rural shops might not have tires your size.

I very much like your position towards a visit of the Himba village. On our guided tour last year we felt very uneasy during that visit. Closed to "civilized" areas of Namibia it looked like as they, mainly the women, are being artificially kept (forced to stay?) in the life stile of former ages. My strong recommendation: do not visit that village!
