Sorry for the audio mixing in this video, I tried using the official release version of the ost files instead of the datamined in-game mp3's so it's a bit off. I'll probably keep using the higher quality files whenever I can but will take the time to balance better.

For the Urayan Titan I think Rujah makes the most sense, but the cliffs of morytha I don’t think that Titan has a name or at least a known name anymore since it’s so old to the point of it decaying so its name would’ve been lost to history and it’s just called the cliffs of morytha causes like they’re cliffs on the edge of the land of morytha

After the DLC's been released and we found out another name of a downed titan, perhaps the Cliffs of Morytha, since it's a *decaying titan* like Torna, could be the Coean titan. That still doesn't figure out its name, but it's the closest I got.

As far as olethro is considered i don’t think it could be the titans name. Olethro (aka όλεθρος in greek) means complete and utter devastation. Thus it could be that the ruins where the site of a massive and incredibly destructive event. Perhaps we’ll see how the ruins got their name in the golden country, for there may be some kind of connection between the ruins and the aigis war.
@yum2735
@yum2735 6 жыл бұрын
"Olethro" is just the English localized name though. In Japanese the ruins are called "ruins of karamu" (カラムの遺跡 in Japanese). To me this still sound more like the name of a civilization called calam/caram rather than the name of the titan though. The English localizers probably identified "calam" as being derived from calamity/calamitas and then decided to obscure it a bit via Greek, but I'm not sure whether that was the developers' intention.

I second this! It's a really interesting topic I'd like to see a video on. I only know of 4 of the 11 guilds: Argentum, Larus, Voltis and Pyrithium. Argentum is the largest and Pyrithium the smallest, Larus and Voltis are somewhere in the middle. That still leaves 7 guilds unaccounted, the only clue we have is that they all seem to share latin based names, and each have a different crest.

Well, “Earth” isn’t really a nation, and I doubt humans will even have a unified government for a long time, assuming our species even lives long enough to do so. To compare this to the titans, Earth would be the name of the Titan in this case, and nations like the United States, Russia, Germany, etc. would probably be, well, a multitude of nations on said Titan.

I'm pretty sure the Titan's name isn't Morytha, they just started calling it the "Cliffs of Morytha" because it started hanging on the edge of the Cloud Sea gap created by Ophion while it was rotting, and the gap itself leads to the Land of Morytha.

I think Avaritia/Argentum is the name of the nation and Goldmund/Goldmouth is the name of the ship. As for the other names: It might be a good idea to also take a look at the canonical Japanese names. Maybe there's even some kind of pattern there like with Genbu. Edit: Melnath's Shoulder is an accurate translation of メルナス左肩区 (lit. "merunasu left shoulder section") in Japanese. I guess generic location names haven't been altered in the localization. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the name's meaning and origin. Edit 2: I previously questioned whether the Cliffs of Morytha were really a titan, but it's clearly stated in the game.

I feel like Cliffs of Morytha isn't called Morytha, I thought it was called Cliffs of Morytha because it hangs over the great void and people know the bottom of the great void where salvage is from as the Land of Morytha, even if no one's ever been down there very few people have been to Morytha recently as well, most people likely think the Cliffs of Morytha are as close as anyone can get to Morytha and even then it's very dangerous, so that's why it's called the cliffs of Morytha, it's not the titan name, to most people Morytha is probably seen as a land opposite of Elysium both are shrouded in mystery and many don't think they exist, and the Cliffs of Morytha are named after that mythical place as they're the closest one can get to it

Thanks for the video, I was wondering the same thing. As for the ruins of Morytha, it is stated by the Architect that those ruins are the remanents of his world, meaning is actual land, not a titan, which would make sense, people think is a dead titan and they don't know how much time it has been decaying. They just don't know land when the see it.

My theory (spoilers untill the very end of xeno 2): Morytha is under the cloud sea, yes? We see technology and Monsters there. These monsters look similar to humans AND remind me of the architect. Despite that one of these monsters even had a pass with it, which we saw in one cutscene down there. SO in conclusion Morytha could possibly be a man made city from the human kind that the architect was, who created the whole xenoblade 2 universe. The architects name was claus or klaus from our earth and universe. We get to know that a lot of things got sucked into the new unviverse by creating it Sorry if the grammar is bad, english aint beein` my mother tounge

Never noticed this thing with the names, but now we have 6 out of 7 deadly sins... Maybe in the Golden Country there will be a titan named Ira (wrath)? Also Leftherian comes frome the greek word ἐλευθερία wich means liberty, and Temperantia is the latin for temperance, maybe more titans named after cardinal virtues? I can really see Torna or another brand new titan fill the spot for the missing sin, and some more new "positive" titans coming with this DLC.
@MrSentinel07
@MrSentinel07 6 жыл бұрын
Torna's Japanese name is "Ira".
@Pierah
@Pierah 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Torna is Wrath. The name comes from the Dutch "Toorn", which means ire or wrath. Technically, Spirit Crucible Elpys aludes to Hope (elpis is greek for hope), one of the three theological virtues. Liberty/Freedom isn't a virtue, but it is traditionally associated with Charity (the freedom to give), so it's likely that the Leftherian Archipelago might represent in its entirety all of the theological virtues (there existed a kingdom close to the Isle of Sleeping Remains, that could be Faith, the last theological virtue). Then, we have the kingdom of Judicium, which aludes to Justice. Together with Temperantia, that makes 2 cardinal virtues, so we're only missing 2 virtues: Prudence and Courage. The only other two titans/nations we know aside from these are Coeia and Regideria. Coeia might alude to Courage (since Courage is derived from the word for heart "corage", and has it's roots on the latin "cor", that's the closest I found to the name). Regideria comes from regi, which means to take control or govern, which could be close to Prudence (to take appropriate action). These last two might be a stretch, but depending on how you look at it we might already know all of them. The fact that Judicium, Temperantia, Regideria are confirmed to be in the same region of the world, combined with the fact that Coeia might actually be in Temperantia (if my theory is correct), it would be like Leftheria where that entire region represents the cardinal virtues.
@slobertooth1358
@slobertooth1358 6 жыл бұрын
I also think a video on Regideria, the supposed lost kingdom that Dagas ruled over would be cool. We know that 3 titans died during the aegis war, Torna, Judicium and one more we don't know of. Could the last one be Regideria? Did malos send that beast their to destroy it? If so why? Did Regideria pose a big threat to Malos? I guess this could also turn into more of a Dagas theory too and if he was truly king of Regideria how did he become a blade?
@Pierah
@Pierah 6 жыл бұрын
The Torna expansion trailer talked about a country called Coeia sinking beneath the clouds by Malos, so that's likely the third one. We'll only know for sure once the DLC is out. Regideria is said to be close to Temperantia though, which was completely eradicated by the Aegis War, so if it existed in those times, it'll likely have been subjected to Malos's rampage as well.
@slobertooth1358
@slobertooth1358 6 жыл бұрын
Pierah Oh yeah true..I completely forgot about the Coeia nation mentioned in the trailer. The land of morytha is as we see, a devastated land. SPOILERS. We are told that the Architect didn't want this happening again, so he formed the cloud sea and the blade/titan cycle. 500 years before the game is set, the aegis also sinks 3 titans, including Torna, which is seen in the land of morytha. So, the land of morytha could be a referance to Mira/Bionis/Mechonis but also combined with Torna and possibly the other titans that were sunk. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

[SPOILERS]Personally, I believe the ruined Titan “cliffs of morytha” is the Titan Morytha. The “land of morytha” is just a city from earth, as Klaus describes in the end that “the land of morytha” was where he lived, (and he lived on earth). When the titans were created, and Klaus’ world was destroyed, salvagers that knew about the Titan morytha saw the lost “land of morytha” and thus named it after the “cliffs” Titan because it was is close proximity to it. I probably confused you, but hopefully you get it. Also I know I’m 4 months late :p

Mor Ardain has multiple docks, and there are areas on the other side of the Titan that we can't get to, but still exist. As well as the dock we arrive at, there's a second dock at the palace, and we're explicitly told the name of a salvager town on the other side of the Titan that was destroyed by Malos if we talk to someone on the Titan in one of the later chapters, which cannot possibly be serviced by the dock near the capitol because the Titan's spine is in the way, and unlike on Gormott it has no pass in it.

Those names are the names for the countries/nations/regions. Titans can have multiple countries in theory. It's kind of like how a country in the real world can have a name, and the piece of land it sits on has another. They use the names of the countries to refer to the titans for ease of identification I guess, just like how I wouldn't call a place in the world by the name of the peninsula/geographical area/continent it was on, but rather by the name of its city or country.

Wait.. I’m a tad bit confused. Isn’t the Argentum Trade Guild not a titan, but rather a large ship? I recall a cutscene back when you were just entering Torigoth. Nia explains that since Gormott is on a titan, it will shift the cloud sea around it. But then she goes on to say that Argentum isn’t a titan, so it doesn’t displace the cloud sea. I might have missed something during that section of the video, or I misheard something during the cutscene, but I guess the only way to find out is to comment.

He explains in the video that the Argentum Trade Guild is not a titan. It's an organization (one of the 11 nopon guilds of the world of Alrest), which works as a nation of sorts. He mentions that Goldmouth might be the name of the titan. In that cutscene, it's not Nia but Rex that mentions that high tide wouldn't happen in Leftheria and Argentum, but doesn't mention why.

Argentum is a ship ATTACHED to a globe fish like titan. To me the entire guild is kind of a zeppelin ^^' You can have a look, all ships are actually ON smaller titans or attached to them (remember the ship quest with Toras uncle or something ? The "titanship" ran away because there were not enough food or something, and first mission has the guild ship deploying smaller ships that look just like the big one in Argentum). Rex even says the monoceros is the only ship he knows that doesn't require a titan to travel... Gormott and Mor Ardain titans walk on the ruins of the "underworld" while indol is no doubt a swiming/flying type like Azurda. Lefteria floats around like real life jellyfish colony would, temperantia swims if my memory is good just like genbu and uraya, torna sunk with 2 other titans and morytha just crashed somewhere to decay. There is also the titan Rex sees dying in the first minute of introduction that is nowhere to be named and is a swim type...

I don't think that the Gormott Titan's name is Melnath, because the name of the location is "Melnath's Shoulder", even though Tora said in a previous cutscene that Umon's shipyard is at the Gormott titan's "bum-bum". Melnath's shoulder is very close to Umon's shipyard. Also, Pyra said something about the "Grandarbor's roots" when referring to the Titan, so I think it's name is Grandarbor.

Anangham could be the Ardainian titan by the port theory. The locations are Anangham #2 Docks / Port Anangham. The key to open the giant gate is also called the Anangham Gate Key. Google was able to translate it from Romanian to English as the word "trouble" which that titan and its inhabitants are in. Also Hardhaigh palace and port appear to just be proper nouns for the name of the palace itself.

im super curios if the revelation of the third Eagis near the end of the game makes sence with xenoblade one or if there any for shadowing in the original game .also maybe this was explained and i didnt pay attencion but why can every Eagis use a monado like weapon except for pyra and mythra
@Pierah
@Pierah 6 жыл бұрын
There is a character in XC1 that fits the role of the third aegis, It's speculated that that character might be Ontos (and it is heavily implied by end of battle quotes of the Challenge Mode rewarded blades that this is the case). Officially, nothing is confirmed though. The Aegis is a Monado technically. In XC1 not all Monados looked like Shulk's and Malos's, with the kanji displaying center piece. Interestingly, the character with the different looking one was also female, so it might be that the male wielders have that familiar shape, while the female ones have the more "Aegis" looking one.

@MaxWelton
@MaxWelton Жыл бұрын
I think “Indol” is a faction, not a Titan. In Torna, Radallis says something about the “greater glory of Indol,” which makes it sounds like a shortening of “Indoline Praetorium.” Indol’s whole thing is human supremacy over Titans and Blades, so I don’t think Radallis would give any glory to Yannath/Goetuis. To me, he was clearly talking about an institution.

I think Goldmouth is the name of the ship because in german rex always refers to it as "die goldmumd" die being the female german pronoun. And while ships have a neutral genus, when it's being reffered to by it's name, the female pronoun is used ("die titanic"). If he was reffering to the titan he would be using the male pronoun ("der titan") and it further makes no grammatical sense if he was reffering to the titan. The only question is if the german translation is canon
@Dualgas
@Dualgas 5 жыл бұрын
What if the titan is female? Aren't female names always female? For example, Dark Samus is called "Dunkele Samus" in German, despite Samus ending in the Latin masculine "-us".

@@Dualgas if he was reffering to it as a living thing he would just not use any pronoun. Actually a lot of the titans names are right gormott is the name like how nia said we’re in gormotts belly the titans races are named after the titans tornas people are called tornans like Asia-Asians azurda- azurdans I’m giving an example at one point each titan was small and gilded only 2 or 3 people like azurda they could talk at the time and people asked them what they’re names were then a few years later the titans grew enough to hold one or two towns and the rulers at the time named they’re people after the titans since the titans met humankind over 1500 years ago which is enough time for these beasts to evolve and birth humankind which would name themselves after their home like we do to

Fist of all, good video, very interesting, also i apologize in advance for any spelling horror, this isn´t my native language. I think that the name of the argentum titan may not be goldmouth, at least in the spanish version. During the hearth to hearth of Nim in temperentia, Tora mentions that "maelstorm" only speak nopon, refering to her previous attempt to talk to a titan, I admit that i may be wrong in the name or that they refered to the others titians around him. If anyone is on thath part of the game i would like to know if its the same.

Maelstrom is the Titan ship Rex and the three Torna members rode on in chapter 1, the one that was responsible for surfacing the ancient vessel. The Titan ship just docks at Goldmouth. And it's like that across all languages, anyway. I've played through NG+ twice, once in French and another in Spanish. But that heart-to-heart, I may need to look into that.

Due to your answer i think you may be right. it´s probale that hey were refering to the titan of the maelstorm, they never speak of it but i assume that if you are going to name your vessel you probably are going to use the titan name or name the titan as your ship, something bourocratic like in real life.

Spoiler for Zenoblade 1, late game as a "What If?" video suggestion. If you don't want to be spoiled on one of the bigger twists of the game, then please look away now and do no hit the "Read more" button. This story deserves to be shown off to people in a better fashion than a text box. At the end of Mechonis Core, after the fights with Egil, Shulk is able to confront and reason with him. This eventually leads to him convincing Egil that a peace between the people's of Bionis and Mechonis is possible. Just as Shulk reaches out his hand to Egil, Dickson appears and shoots him in the back, "killing" him and fully awakening the soul of the Bionis, Zanza, who was dormant within him. So, what would happen if Shulk's new ability to have visions without Zanza's power (explained later as Shulk focusing and the future just appearing to him in his mind rather than a full blown vision) allowed him to evade this "killing" shot? What would have allowed Zanza to awaken? Would Dickson be stopped?
@akirbyobsessee7396
@akirbyobsessee7396 3 жыл бұрын
Two years late but it’s time to toss my hat into the ring It’s clearly seen after destroying the core that Zanza is beginning to stir and detach from Shulk. Because Shulk is losing touch with the god within him, his body is becoming more and more 100% Homs, therefore the Monado is electrocuting him just like any other schmoe who grabs it. So by this point, especially by the time you fight Egil, Shulk is losing touch with Zanza and his abilities are slipping. Once he has finished battling Egil, Shulk has outlived his role as a vessel, and is entirely separated from Zanza by the time his body is shot down to let him break away. There’s absolutely no way for Shulk to just draw out the Monado’s power at a point where he can’t resonate with it. Remember how any “unworthy” Homs like Dunban never even got a vision beforehand? It’s only after Shulk’s revival that his “true monado” is manifesting by Alvis’ will and he regains the power to view the future.

I think the name of the Mor Ardanian titan can be found in the secret area the Fief of Forgetfulness. fief /fēf/ noun 1. HISTORICAL•LAW an estate of land, especially one held on condition of feudal service. Translated from it's definition as The Land of Forgetfulness, Mor Ardain forgot the name of the titan, they resided on an area of the titan, built on it similar to how a lord (the titan) would give out a piece of land for people to live on but you can just see the state of the titan, they drilled into it, they sapped it of it's energy, it has the same dying ether lines as Genbu first had. No other nation in the entire game has even remotely similar industrialization as Mor Ardain, even Indol with their crazy souped up laser battery additions has nowhere near the amount of just destroying that Mor Ardain had. It also lays further credence that the entrance to this secret area is hidden underneath a bridge only accessible by taking a leap of faith from the Ardanian's modifications, a fitting metaphor to the total disconnect of the Ardanians and the titan and that the Fief is located directly under Hardhaigh Palace. It even has a support column sticking out of the Fief that is holding up Hardhaigh Palace implying they literally built the palace above the land that was offered to them by the titan.
